Prologue

The clashing of swords could be heard from across the field as Rose stared at Keelan fighting. Their son stood beside her with an excited gleam in his eyes as he cheered his father on.

With one glance at her son she knew that he was going to become an excellent fighter just like his father.

She was so deep in thought that she almost didn't hear the screaming from behind her.

When she spun around she noticed Ms. Mousy screaming for her to come quick. She was bewildered at first but then Ms. Mousy spoke the next words and she dashed off immediately.

"It's Freya."

Rose ran as fast as she could, she heard a pair of footsteps behind her and knew it was Keelan. Thoughts ran through her head as she stressed about what happened to her daughter and if she was alright.

When they caught up with Ms. Mousy she led the way to the castle.

They were led to the royal garden and when they opened the door, everybody was gathered around something. Shocked masked all their faces and Rose started to worry even more.

But when everybody moved away and she saw her little girl playing with a flower that wasn't there, she knew that something was wrong.

"I don't understand, fae only get their powers at sixteen. Why is Freya already showing signs of developing her gifts." Keelan said later that they as all the family members were gathered together in the library.

"It is peculiar." Carling said.

"How is this possible, Freya has just turned three. My baby girl isn't old enough to develop gifts." Keelan said as he paced the room.

"Keelan, there is a legend." Carling said after a few minutes of silence.

"What does it say?" Zian asked.

And so the enchantress started her tale, "It goes something like this: Powers will arise to save a kingdom from despise, time lessens with every petal fall. Hurry quick to break a stone wall."

"What does that even mean?" Alvani asked.

"I'm not quite sure, but I fear for Freya's life." Carling said with a sigh.

"Why?" Rose asked with concerned etched on her face.

"It might be nothing..."

"Tell us." Keelan persisted.

"I fear that people might use her powers for their own gain, there are a lot of evil people out there." Carling said.

"What do you suggest we do?" Evelyn asked.

"We keep her powers hidden for as long as possible and only hope that nobody takes advantage of her. That is why I think it is better to keep her in the castle at all times, at least until her sixteen birthday when no one will question her having powers."

"I suppose this is the only way." Rose said, not completing agreeing with it for how do you prohibit a curious child from leaving the castle grounds. But if it is the only way to ensure her daughter's safety then so be it.

"Then we shall keep her here." Keelan said as he nodded his head in agreement.

Rose and Keelan didn't like the idea of locking up their daughter, but as a parent you would go to great lengths to ensure the wellbeing of your child.

And so it would be that Freya would be locked up with no knowledge of the outside world...
