Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Freya's POV
When I entered my room Moira sat on my bed.
"Did Ronin ask questions?" She asked.
"He did. I told him that I had to help cook because you two had a fight." I said with a grin.
"About what?" She asked curiously.
"I didn't say."
"You sly monkey, so he doesn't suspect a thing?"
"Not a thing." I said triumphantly.
"Good, I can't wait to see his reaction when he sees his surprise. Goodnight Freya." She said as she walked to the door.
"Goodnight Moira." I replied before she gave me a last smile and left me alone in my room. What a busy day.

The next morning I was up before the crack of dawn and after I ate a quick breakfast I headed to the ballroom. The rest of the servants were already busy and I quickly joined them.
We cleaned the rest of the day and it felt like we made little progress, luckily we still had time to get the ballroom in order. Cook came by with lunch and when I told her what I told Ronin she couldn't help but laugh.
The day went by fast and I joined Ronin for dinner again. He still didn't like the idea of me not reading to him, but he understood why. But from the looks of it I could sense he didn't like Moira's reading capabilities.
The rest of the week went by fast and before I knew it the big night arrived.
Cook and I rushed to get the ball done and when it was almost time cook dragged me to my room to get ready.
She did my hair in a braid before she pinned all of my hair next to my head in an elegant bun. After that she helped me dress in a beautiful yellow ballgown. When I was dressed and ready to go Moira came by.
When her eyes fell on me her mouth dropped to the floor.
"You look lovely, dearie. Ronin will be blown away when he sees you." She said and I blushed at her statement.
"Thank you."
"So let's go over the plan again." Cook said.
"Moira and I will head to the ballroom, while you rush to Ronin and tell him that there was an accident in the ballroom and I was in trouble. And when he burst through the door the music will start and we all yell happy birthday." I said.
"Good, lets get to it then."
I nodded before Moira and I went to the ballroom and cook went to get Ronin. I just hoped he liked his surprise.

Ronin's POV
I was sitting in the library waiting for Moira to return. She said she would bring dinner to me and I wasn't in the mood to leave the library so I didn't protest.
Tonight was my final night and I couldn't even spend it with Freya...
Suddenly I heard the door burst open followed by heavy footsteps and panting. I quickly stood upright as I was faced with a horrified looking cook.
"Cook, what's the matter?" I asked her.
"It's...it's Freya...you need to...come quick." She said before she turned around and dashed out of the room with me following behind.
Millions of thoughts ran through my head and I could only hope that Freya was alright. Cook led me to the ballroom before she came to a hult and pointed to the ballroom.
I quickly opened the door and was blinded by bright lights and the sound of music filled my ears. I heard people scream surprise and when I opened my eyes I was blown away.
The ball was beautifully decorated and there was a table off to the side with chairs and mounds food atop. All my servants were standing infront of me with Freya infront. They all screamed happy birthday together before each one of them congratulated me on their own.
After all the servants greeted me Moira, cook and Freya came over.
"You all did this?" I asked the three ladies infront of me.
"Yes, anything for our king." Cook said and I felt my happiness grow. This was the best thing anyone has ever done for me.
They told me how they planned everything and how cook and Moira weren't really fighting. I was especially glad to hear that.
After talking to me for a few minutes they led me to the table where all my favorite foods were spread out. Moira and cook joined the rest of the servants while Freya and I enjoyed our lovely dinner.
When we finished our dinner Freya asked me to dance with her. I wanted to refuse but then I remembered that this will be the last night I will be spending with her, so I agreed.
We danced the night away and it felt wonderful to have her in my arms. With each turn we took I realised just how much I loved this little faery in my arms. She giggled as I spun her around and that brought laughter to my mouth. I enjoyed seeing her happy.
"Thank you Freya, for everything." I said as we danced across the room.
"You're the one I should thank, you saved my life." She said with her gorgeous smile I loved.
"Thank you for making my birthday more memorable." I said.
"It's my pleasure." She said and I suddenly felt bad that I haven't told her that this was going to be my last birthday. I couldn't keep it in any longer so I decided to tell her the truth.
"Freya, I...I've..."
"You've what?" She asked as she looked up into my eyes.
"I believe I haven't been quite open with you."
"What do you mean?" She asked with a frown on her face.
"I need to talk to you." I said and as soon as the words left my lips Freya's eyes suddenly glazed over. Her body went limb and I quickly caught her before she fell to the ground.
The servants noticed what happened and rushed over. I quickly scooped her into my arms before I called cook and Moira to follow me to her chambers.
I ran as fast as I could and when I arrived at her room I gently laid her in her bed.
"What happened?" Moira asked.
"I think I might have triggered another memory." I said as I faced Moira behind me.
"I was just about to tell her the truth, come clean. But now this had to happen." I said with a sigh.
"Don't worry, Ronin. I'm sure she will wake up soon." Cook said as she placed a hand on my shoulder.
"Return to the ball, I will stay here with Freya." I told them.
"Are you sure?" Moira asked.
"I'm certain, go enjoy the party." I told them. After they left I laid down on the carpet.
I wanted to tell her the truth and maybe even how I felt about her, but now I wasn't so sure I was going to get the chance to do it.
My thoughts started to drift and before long I was encased in darkness.

"Ro, Ro wake up." I heard a voice say as I small hand shook my shoulder.
When I opened my eyes I saw Freya hovering above me.
"Freya, you're awake." I said as I stood up.
"Yes, and I have great news!"
"What?" I asked.
"I got all my memories back!" She exclaimed. I felt both happy and sad at the same time.
"That's great." I said as I grabbed her in a hug.
"I know. I finally know who I am." She said excitedly.
"And who are you?" I asked.
"I'm Freya Light. Daughter of king Keelan Light and queen Rose Light. I have a brother, Javier and a protector, Rhid. I was chased by Aerolf, the elven duke, for my powers." She said at the speed of lightning, like she was scared she will forget it again.
"Your highness." I said as I bowed.
"Oh Ronin, this is wonderful." She said excitedly.
"I know, it is. Do you want to see your parents?" I asked.
"Yes, but how?" She asked puzzled.
"Follow me." I said and I took her to my room.
I quickly rummaged through my drawers for the enchanted mirror. When I found it I gave it to Freya who was sitting on my bed before joining her.
"What is this?" She asked.
"It is a magical mirror, it shows you anyone you ask for, but you have to give it a name." I said. She nodded before she looked at the mirror and whispered her mother's name.
The mirror changed and showed a room with a woman sitting on a chair. The woman looked pale and you could see there was something wrong. A man suddenly joined her with a tray of food in his hands.
"I'm not hungry." She told the man as he placed the tray infront of her.
"You need to eat, love." He said.
"How can I sit here and eat when my daughter is out there?!" She said as tears started to form in her eyes.
I could feel Freya shaking next to me and I realised she was crying. I quickly took the mirror out of her hands before I hugged her.
"I need to go home." She said after a while.
"I'll take you to the border, the first thing in the morning." I told her. I knew this day was coming soon, but I didn't want it to be this soon.

Keelan's POV
I watched Rose sleep next to me as I thought about Freya. Her disappearance has taken a toll on Rose and I wanted to help her, but I couldn't. If there was only a way to help her...
Suddenly an idea entered my mind and I knew what to do. I hurried to the library where I found Carling. Carling gave me a small smile when she noticed my presence.
"How is she doing?" Carling asked.
"Not good, that is why I came to see you. I need you to take her to the cabin for a few days. I think it might distract her, with the different scenery and all." I explained to Carling.
"I agree, we shall leave first thing tomorrow morning."
"Thank you." I could only hope this will give Rose the distraction she needed.
