Chapter 14

Freya's POV

"Are we there yet?" I asked for the tenth time as Ronin and I trekked through the forest. I felt a rumbling beneath me as Ronin let out a chuckle.

"No Freya, but we will be there soon." He said as we continued on the road.

"Can you atleast tell me where we're going?" I asked.

"No, as I told you before it is a surprise." He said.

"Well I don't think I quite enjoy surprises." I said with a small huff as I crossed my arms over my chest.

My legs were feeling like pins and needles and I wanted to walk so badly, but Ronin said that if I walked we will only take longer to get to our destination and I didn't want that. I was just too curious to see where he was taking me. And besides riding a bear was quite an exciting experience.

A gust of wind flew past and whipped my hair around. A whiff of salt entered my notrils that made me even more curious.

Suddenly we came to a hult and Ronin lowered himself so that I could climb off. When I was back on solid ground I looked up at Ronin.

"Well?" I asked.

"Just go through those bushes." He answered. I gave him a puzzled look before I went over to the bush as he instructed. I gently pulled the bushes away before I walked to the otherside. I heard a loud crashing noise and when I looked up a gasp escaped my awestruck lips.

In front of me was a white spread of sand before it dissapeared into the rolling waves of the breathtaking blue pool of water.

I heard crunching of leaves behind me and when I turned around I saw Ronin.

"Where am I?"

"This my dear Freya is the ocean." He said as he spread out his paw to indicate the everlasting ocean.

"Thank you so much." I said before I grabbed him for a quick hug. After that I raced like a mad woman to reach the ocean. In mid dash I took off my shoes and lifted up my skirts before I hopped and skipped around in the water.

The crystal water was cool and relaxing and a giggle escaped my lips as I jumped and hopped around. Ronin stood off to the side apprehensively, eyeing the water sceptically. I could see he was scared to jump in so I splashed him with water. He was shocked at first but then a grin formed on his face as he started to chase after me.

A yelp escaped my lips as I ran from the vengeful king. Eventually he caught up to me and let's just say I was completely soaked after that.

We played around like that for hours before we ate our lunch on the beach. The ocean was magnificent and the view was evenmore so. There were seagulls crying high in the sky and the small ocean breeze dried my hair.

When we finished our lunch Ronin took me to the ocean palace and gave me a tour around. The palace was even more beautiful than the castle and with a view like that I could stay here forever.

Staring out of the window of the palace I took in the view of the ocean.

"I could stay here forever." I said with a sigh.

"You can return here anytime you like." Ronin said behind me.

"I would like that." I said with a smile. We admired the view for a few more moments before Ronin dragged me off to show me the rest of the palace.

During our tour Ronin told me different stories about his childhood years and with each story it became harder to see him as a beast. Over these last few weeks I've learnt that he was definitely not the beast he portrayed to be. He was kind, caring, and very sweet.  Nothing you would expect from a cold hearted beast.

There was something about him that drew me in and didn't let go...

After our tour we went back down to the beach again and I couldn't resist running into the water again. The cool water was unlike anything I've ever experienced and I had a feeling that this was something I've never saw in life time.

Ronin sat on the beach admiring the view from afar. After spalshing around for a few more minutes I joined him on the beach.

"This is the most extraordinary thing I've ever seen. Thank you for bringing me here." I said as I gave Ronin a smile.

"It was my pleasure. So did it evoke any memories?" He asked.

"No, but I do get the feeling that I've never seen an ocean before." I said.

"You've never seen the ocean?"

"No, I'm certain I would've remembered a view like this and I'm postive a memory would've been triggered by now." I said with a sigh.

"Well now you saw it and I'm glad I could share this piece of beauty with you." He said and I gave him a smile. I was also very glad he shared this wonderful view with me.

We sat like that for a few hours just enjoying the view. While we sat there I forgot all about my worries and cares only enjoying this precious moment with Ronin. He was an amazing person and I wished that I could break his curse, but how?

He said there was no way and I only left it at that because I saw he was getting upset. I didn't want to upset him, but I wanted to help him. He was a good friend.

When I looked at him I saw his eyes were closed and a peaceful look has covered his face. He looked carefree and I wanted him to have this carefree look forever, but there was no way to keep this moment forever.

As I stared at his peaceful form I wondered how much time he had left. He said he had enough time left, but what did that even mean? And what was going to happen when the time was over, was he only going to stay a bear forever or was he going to die?

I didn't want him to die. Not after everything he has done for me. I must admit that when I first saw him I was a bit unsure about him, but now I see him for who really is. A kind, caring and understanding person who made a mistake by letting his anger cloud his judgement and now he was paying the price.

When my eyes returned back to the ocean I saw the sun was busy setting and the view was only enhanced as the sky was filled with pinks, oranges, purples and reds. I didn't even realise that it was this late until I saw the setting sun.

"We need to head back." Ronin said pulling me out of my stupor.

I nodded before I stood up. Ronin lowered himself so that I could climb on his back and after I gave the ocean a last glance Ronin dashed of into the woods.

Unknown POV

"Did you find her?" I asked the cloaked figure infront of me.

"No sire." He said and I screamed with outrage as I threw everything off my desk.

"Where could she possible be!" I exclaimed with anger. We've been searching for her for six months with no luck.

"I don't know sire, but I've seen no sign of her."

"I need you to go look further." I ordered.

"Sire I already searched half of the forest."

"I don't care search again and expand your search." I spat at him.

"Sire, don't you think we've been going at it long enough."

"No! Don't you dare tell me that we've searched long enough. Have you already forgotten about your wife and child? Their survival depends on you, and if don't bring my Freya back to me, I will make sure they die."

"I'll start my search immediately." He said.

"I thought so, now hurry along we don't have forever."

He nodded before he transformed into a bird and flew out of the window.

I needed her and I was going to have her. Don't worry Freya, you will be home soon. And then we can marry and then your powers will be all mine.
