"Yeah, there isn't much of the Resistance as there used be back then," Poe said after informing Ava about the adventures he had when he was the Commander of the Black Squadron. "But, don't worry, you'll get to meet my other friends."

"Friends?" She teased with herr eyebrows raised at him. "You have friends?"

Poe Dameron sighed with the roll of his eyes as he looked back at her with a wide grin, slightly leaning his head towards her. "You always have to ruin my serious moments like that don't you?"

"Only with you Dameron." Ava smirked back with a shrug.

He shook his head with laugh before returning to the topic. "Anyways, there are still friends I do have, that you'll get to meet."

They found themselves in the same park the were at a day or two prior. Where she played catch with BB-8.

"Well if you say so." Ava snickered as she sat down on the grass, holding knees against her chest.

She glanced up at him with a quick gesture of her head. Poe took that as permission to join her. He planted his hands behind and supporting his weight leaning back.

"Tell me about them."

He whipped his head over at the sound of her voice. Slightly confused on what she meant.

"Your friends." Ava clarified. "What are they like?"

"Well," Poe cleared his throat. "There's Finn. No last name since he was a stormtrooper. Taken from his home to fight for the First Order. Not a great way to grow up that's for sure."

"Just like Red Room." The words slipped out of her mouth but quick to aid Poe's lack of knowledge of the term. "There used to be a terrible organization on Earth that did something similar to little girls."

Poe nodded with a hum before going on. "There's also Rey. She's one of those powerful heroes with the lightsabers I told you about."

"What's a lightsaber like again?" Ava asked with a scrunched nose as she turned towards him.

He smiled at her. "It's the main weapon Jedi's use. Or Siths, but theirs are always red while Jedi's are usually blue, green, purple, white or Rey's is yellow. They are like Gamoras sword but with light as the blade."

It clicked in her mind that it was a light, saber. Of course it was a sword like weapon. Ava nodded as Poe continued tell her more about the different people from his Base. Talking about them the same way she felt about the Guardians and the few Avengers she has met. She already mentioned a few but added Peter Parker and Natasha Romanoff to inform Poe about.

"Your planet is weird." Poe snickered from hearing the stories of Earth's mightiest heros.

Ava rolled her eyes. "Like the giant furry guy, the Force and all that jazz isn't weird?"

"Thought we established my definition of weird is different than yours blondie." He said as she could see the smirk of his in her head.

Biting her lip, Ava pointing up to the cluster of stars in a sheer blanket of space. "There's the Milky Way Galaxy way over there."

"It's were Earth is."

"Huh," Poe huffed. "It doesn't seem too far."

"Yeah not too bad. You'll have to come visit one day." Ava said before she could stop herself. "I mean, you don't have to since your probably far-"

"I'll be planning on it one day." Poe cut her off. "Just as long as I get to have my personal expert there to help me not get lost."

A smile stretched on her lips

Ava shook her head. "Although I know the constellations there much better. Out here, they are limitless."

"That's fair." Poe shrugged. "I've always called them Stargrams with my mother. It reminded us of holograms."

"My mother used to look at the stars alot too, when Peter and I were little." She added, comparing her experience to his.

Poe tilted his head. "Yeah?"

"Sometimes we'd make up our own constellations-" Ava said, stealing another glance at the General who was already staring at her. Taking a deep breath, she resumed to tell him her idea.

"Maybe you and I can make them up if you want." Ava suggested as laid down on the grass.

Poe followed her lead. Setting off goosebumps when she felt Poe's arm brush against hers.

"Sounds like fun blondie." He said.

After 10 minutes of finding stars that shaped into various things, something else caught her eye. A streak of light, cutting through the night sky.

A shooting star is more than something you wish upon. It's a sign that something good is going to happen.

Her mother's words lingering in her mind as she thought about the possibilities of the outcome from the falling star.

"You saw that shooting star too?" Poe's voice pulled her back as she found his gaze again. She nodded. That same strange yet comfortable silence joining them as they exchange smiles.

Ava let out long sigh before she said.
"Poe?"

"Yeah?"

Not sure what to say, she looked up at the stars again.

"Have you- Have you ever been scared to love someone?" She asked, her words acting faster that her thoughts. Catching even herself off guard as she shifted the conversation.

Poe remained quiet for a moment but answered. "I don't think afraid is the word to describe it. I have been extremely nervous though."

Ava nodded. "Me too."

A smidge of sorrow overcame her. She mentally slapped herself to not pity herself for the fact Poe Dameron might have eyes for someone else.

"How do you not, be so nervous or afraid?" She asked a follow-up question.

Poe huffed with a snicker as he sat up as he perched his arms on his knees. "I still don't know. It's a work in progress."

He picked up a few blades of grass and began to fidget. Ripping them as he stared at his hands, avoiding Ava's eyes and taking a deep breath.

"She's so beautiful, inside and out. She always makes me laugh and is caring. Shes stubborn when I'm with her, always keeping me in line though. She all of that and so much more to the point I'm still falling."

Ava stretched a side grin, trying not to show the pain from know he liked someone else. "Yeah? Why don't you tell her?"

Poe shook his head. "Can't do that."

"Why not?"

"She would laugh at me." He said.

"I doubt that. Your Poe Dameron." Ava stated simply as she sat up. He kept his eyes distant, focused on his hands still, while she stared at his side profile. Loose curls falling in his face that tempted her to push it back for him. Instead, her hand found his shoulder.

"I know if I were her I'd be head over heels and pinch myself."

Poe whipped his head. "You would?"

Realizing she said that outloud, she slapped a hand over her mouth. "Oh my gosh. I didn't mean to say that. I uh-"

"You really would?" He breathed out with a laugh, with a innocence in his sly grin.

"Go ahead and laugh at me Dameron! I fell for your stupid prank!" Ava shook her head as she stood up before this situation got more humiliating. "I'm not her always. So it doesn't matter."

A hand around wrist, refused to let her walk away.

"Hey,"

Ava looked over shoulder as Poe rose from the ground and stepping closer. Rubbing her arm in apology.

"It matters." He said, pulling her back towards him. "I only laughed because, she does matter to me. I wasn't a prank at all."

Silence hit them and there was no sign of a joke in his eyes when he looked at her, with a intimacy that he didn't shy away from.

Then it clicked in her head.

"Oh."

The woman was her.

Poe Dameron was not falling for someone in his base, which is what Ava assumed. But no, it was her.

Ava stepped away with a laugh of disbelief. Putting her cold knuckles on her cheeks in hopes to cool down her face burning like a furnance.

"This can't be happening." Ava shook her head before looking over at Poe who only tilted his head.

He worried that he overstepped.

"What can't be happening?"

Ava spun around and gestured to the two of them. "This! None of this makes sense. We are two people who live in very different galaxies that are super far, heck we dont even know how far."

"It's crazy and I should never have-"

"So what if it is crazy?" Poe asked, sounding more like a statement of truth, agreeing with Ava's logic.

"It is! I even promised myself I'd never fall for you the moment you showed your stupidly gorgeous face!" Ava continued to ramble not realizing Poe pulling out the Zune out from his pocket, pressing play. A song Ava knew all too well. I Can't Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley.

A tug on her arm almost sent her into cardiac arrest. Bringing her closer to that stupidly gorgeous face as she tried to stop him.

"What are you doing Poe?" She furrowed her browser in confusion mixed with anticipation. A small part of her curious of his actions and wanted to explore his intentions.

He leaned his head down as he said quietly. "If you dare, come a little bit closer, Blondie."

Ava smiled softly as she took a step forwards, grabbing his free hand with the other on his shoulder. Goosebumps went up her spine when she felt his hand on her back, supporting her descion.

Poe pulled her closer as the lyrics made their debut to this beautiful scene under the stars, swaying her to the steady beat quiet guitar and the flow of the broken piano chords.

"Wise men say
Only fools rush in."

"I'm surprise Peter let you take his Zune." Ava stated with a snicker, her nose scrunching. Something that made Poe's lovesick illness for her worse.

Poe tsk his tongue without a worry. "Eh, Rocket helped me get my hands on it."

"And snuck his sister out this late. If he finds out about this, you're getting yourself barried alive." She squinted her eyes that could easily see the usual cunning and daring personality of General Poe Dameron.

"You're a bad influence, Poe."

He clicked his tongue as she gave him a taste of his own medicine of sarcasm. A dangerous game to play but she found it as an addicting risk each time.

"Starlord has nothing to worry about if he does find out, which he won't." Poe said with a know it all attitude.

"But I can't help falling in love with you."

Poe lifted their linked hands above their heads, allowing her to twirl. She wasn't nearly as talented in dance as her brother, but didn't mind it.

Tripping over her feet as Poe brought her back to him, she grabbed his shoulders without thinking. He responded by wrapping his arms around her waist.

Ava felt her heart skip a beat as she kept her hands on his chest while Poe continued to sway them to the beat.

"Will you ever teach me the words to your favorite songs?" He asked.

Ava raised an eyebrow, intriged and smiled. "I'll teach you some of this one right now." She said, feeling a little weary of the intimate proximity, but courage let her voice the song slip into his ear.

"Shall I stay?
Would it be a sin
If I can't help falling in love with you?

Like a river flows

Surely to the sea
Darling, so it goes
Some things are meant to be."

Poe shut his eyes hearing the lyrics in the form of sound of her gentle voice, melting away any worries or uncertainties.

Ava paused from singing the tune, but surprised to find him already staring at her, but near her chin this time. As if she could read his mind, she closed her eyes with a sigh of fear. Taking the best of her.

"Poe, whatever you're doing, it's a mistake." She said as his nose almost bumped hers.

"How so?" He questioned as he backed a little with his brows furrowed.

Ava let out a sigh again, with a vibration going off on her wrist. A perfect opportunity to step away from making a mistake. She pressed the accept button.

"Hey."

"Hey Sis!"

Poe sighed as he watched as another potiental moment slip through his fingers.

"Just noticed you left the office room and Poe isn't here. You two okay?" Peter asked as Ava looked over at Poe.

'Sorry.' She rolled her eyes from her brothers rude interruption and overly worried impulse to check up on her.

"Relax Peter. We only went for a walk." Ava stated, her voice coated in thick layer of annoyance. "Don't need you to keep track of us. We literally fought off the Skrulls. Without you there might i add!"

"She's right babe."

"Gamora! Thank Odin your here!" Ava sighed in relief. "Can you tell my brother that we'll be fine?"

"Will do." She said before hanging up as Ava could picture her scolding at Peter.

Awkard silence welcomed itself again as Ava wanted to love Poe as much as he loved her. But she was scared.

"Thanks for the dance, Poe-"

She attempted to leave but felt a tug of her wrist again. "I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable-"

"No Poe, it's not your fault." She replied, pulling her arm away as she closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. "It's mine.

"I just. Everytime I get close to someone, I loose them. It's written in the stars."
She admitted as she looked down.

Until a knuckle under her chin, lifted her face to find his concerning eyes.

"Maybe the stars are wrong this time." He said softly, now cupping her cheek while his thumb traced her skin. "And I don't regret getting close to you one bit."

"And I don't either." She began with anxiety shaking in her throat. "It's the feeling of falling terrifies me. I don't want to be falling to the ground just to break again."

"You have me this time. I'll catch you." He assured pushing back loose strands of her hair.

Ava shook head. "Then again it's impossible."

"Impossible?" He scoffed raised his eyebrows before shaking his head. "Screw that."

His stubborn rejection to her logic made it hard for her to concentrate. She shook her head again.

"It's impossible if your falling for me too. How are you going to catch me?" Ava questioned as he moved his head to be next to her ear.

"Then we fall together." Poe whispered. "That's the beauty of falling, Ava. But I don't ever plan on stopping, even with the broken pieces included. Nothing will keep me from loving you. No distance in between us or title is no match for that."

Ava smiled as the war between her heart and mind was ongoing. Her heart persistent to conquer this battle. She may not know for sure if the stars were right or wrong, but she didn't care. She could change the stars. With Poe. And nothing was going to stop them.

"You never lose by loving. You lose by holding back." Her mother's voice reminding her. Now, having no interest in loosing this battle, she was going to win. No matter the cost.

Bringing her head to be in front of that stupidly gorgeously face, hesitating and over-thinking her impulse, ready to take action.

To take a chance.

Before fear could try stop her again, Ava crashed her lips onto Poe's. Nerves electrified as she had never had a moment like this before in her life.

What am I doing?

She pulled away and avoided his eyes. The demon of overthinking trying to convince her this was all a mistake. That she needed to wake up to reality.

"I can't believe I just did that." She said in regret and uncertainty. "I don't know what I-"

Captivated by warm lips, she melted into the kiss as a hand found the back of her head to keep her from doubting.

"I'm happy you did." Poe muttered as he kept his lips close. "Hate to break it to you, but I'm kind of deeply in love with this blondie. Whether she likes it or not."

Ava's stretched her mouth from ear to ear. "Well hate to break it to you, but she's so in love with this idiot. Whether he likes it or not."

Poe rose a challenging eyebrow with a smirk. "Copy cat." He whispered colliding again.

Embracing the tenderness. To feel each others rhythm in the most natural way possible. It was as all of her love for him had been building up together before it exploded. As if it were the Big Bang. Bursting from her heart and spreading across her system. She dreamed to find that kind of power. What her parents began. What Gamora and Peter shared. And what that couple on Easik never forgot. Never did she ever think it would be hers.

Poe broke, while Ava's breath mixed with his. He rested his forehead against hers and their noses caressing against their beaming faces.

"That," Ava said bashfully with her eyes shut. "That was my first kiss I've had in a long time."

"Well," Poe clicked his tongue as she looked at him. "Hopefully it wasn't a bad one."

She shook her head. "Oh so much better than I could imagine." She confirmed, innocently, looking up into Poe's stupid goregous face, while his lazy eyes never tore away from her. A man already mesmerized by the galaxy, but more hypnotized by her gaze.

"Poe." Ava whispered his name again that made his heart want to jump in an X-wing and soar across the sky.

"Hmm?"

"Can you please kiss me again? Incase this isn't real." She pleaded desperately, afraid the moment they separated he would be gone.

"I promise." Poe chuckled as he pressed a reassuring kiss on her forehead before leaning toward her. "It's real, sweetheart. And I'm not going anywhere."

Taking her request, his lips guided hers. Yet it wasn't hard for her to follow, regardless of her inexperience.
Hands secured on her waist as her arms wrapped around his neck, bringing each other near.
Fingers found the messy roots on his dark curls and becoming entangled in softness of his hair.
Lips couldn't help but smile as they molded together.

This wasn't a dream.

It was real.

But I can't help falling
In Love
With you.

Not realizing the song was still playing, the tune faded as the two unlikely lovers were captivated by the other.

Neither want anything to stop it. Stop her from loving Poe Dameron. Stop him from loving Ava Quill. The intimacy was a way to flip off every single star. To rebel against what was written.

Ava let out a small laugh as a silly thought entered her mind.

"What's so funny, Blondie?" Poe asked pulling away with his dashing yet playful smirk.

She laughed again. "I guess we should thank the Asteroid field for hitting your X-wing."

This time, without being offended, Poe let out a hum in a tune of agreement. "I guess we should, huh?" He brought a sweet peck on her hand as fingers intertwined.

"And I hate to be the mood killer, but we should probably head back."

Ava nodded as she let out a long breath. "That would probably be best. Got to watch out for those bounty hunters."

Poe laughed at her joke, one that started as a suspision off his.

"Well, they're too late! One of them got me already!" He exclaimed as if he was seriously in danger. "Someone help me!"

Drama Queen.

Ava giggled, rolling her eyes and squeezed his hand. "However, if Peter finds out you fell for his baby sister, then procced with caution. Or you might be wishing you got captured by bounty hunters instead."

"I'll uh-" He gulped and cleared his throat. Hiding the pitch of his voice that almost went up an octave. "I'll keep that in mind."

Ava leaned her head on his shoulder. "We can let him know together, when the time is right. Be honest and show him he has nothing to worry about."

"Cool." He let out a sigh of relief before pulling the Zune out again. "I think you still need to teach me music from Terra."

Ava grinned before snatching the device and selecting some of her favorite songs;
Still Into You.
Dancing Queen.
Don't Stop Believing
And well as the Quill siblings ultimate favorite, Come and Get You Love.

Once Poe seemed comfortable with singing along, Ava played the songs again as they danced around like they were drunk fools walking out of a Cantina. Swinging their linked hands in the middle of the street. Acting like two kids in love.

Finally they made it back to the house.
Creeping inside and careful not to wake anyone, especially Peter. Successfully, they got to the front of their bedroom doors.

"Thanks General. For dragging me out of the house." She sighed.

"Someone had to do it." Poe grinned as he squeezed her hand before bringing it up to his lips and planting a kiss on her knuckle. "But in all seriousness, your welcome, Ava."

Her cheeks became warm, when he for once didn't use a nickname. Ava then rubbed her thumb over his knuckle. "Goodnight, Poe Dameron."

She started to leave and open her door, but with a tugged of her wrist, she spun around for Poe to grant her another kiss.

"Goodnight, Ava Quill." Poe said as he pulled away, her name rolling off his tongue once again with ease. Letting her go with a smile that Ava mirrored.

She then slipped inside the room, not being able to wipe away the happiness inside of her. Ava ran as she fell on top of her bed with a glow on her cheeks.

Outside the window she saw the stars again. Looking them as if she challenged them with a daring smirk.

Sorry Stars,

As if the stars knew her thoughts about Poe Dameron. Yet she remembered that one shooting star falling out of place as a sign. A sign she didn't have to follow what was written in the stars.

You're have to deal with it.

BA-BAM!!
POVA IS FINALLY HERE!

Pova is the official ship name I made for Poe and Ava. It was Pava but then I remembered Jessika Pava from Poe's Black Squadron and didn't want to confuse y'all.

And I know it took a while for me to post this chapter. It's been sitting as a draft for a LONG TIME. Mostly because I'm a perfectionist and kept wanting to change how their first kiss came about.

BUT IT HAPPENED!

Here's some memes to celebrate:

(Ava said "jarvis play rewrite the stars*)

(Then again when has Poe ever listened to Ava or ANYONE!?)

(She's watching that whole romance with Leia, Luke, Han, Tony and Nat like its a rom-com i know it.)
