It has been quite the in the past week for the Guardians. There weren't as many distress signals now that people were adjusting back from the Blip.

Now in the Benatar, everyone was taking the chance to relax until the next call came through.

Except for Ava.

Ava had came down from the main deck to see her brother at the table.

His head resting on his hand with his elbow propping himself up. The other hand holding a mug from New Asgard that read: Cool as Thor.

But of course her insecure brother had made some "upgrades" for it to say: Cooler than Thor.

She stepped closer to him with caution. Her hands hovered over his shoulders before she pounced.

"Good morning Pete!" Ava shouted into his ear as her brother shot out of his trance and spilled a little bit of his hot drink on the table.

He mumbled something under his breath as he glared at his sister. "Ava Quill, you know better, call me Starlord."

Peter than stood up to grab a towel to clean up the mess.

Ava rolled her eyes as she watched him wipe away the dark liquid equivalent to coffee.

"But I'm you're little sister first, I get to call you anything I want." Ava said sarcastically.

Peter chuckled with a sly smirk "Sure, but would calling me Starlord every once in a while be a problem?" He walked over to the counter and tossed the dirty towel near a mini sink.

"More like Star-diva." Ava said under her breath after moment of silence.

His head snapped his head back at her with his jaw dropped. "Alright, that's it!"

Peter came back and wrapped his arm around his sister's neck. He proceeded to rub his knuckles on top of her head.

"Peter Jason Quill! Let me go!" Ava squirmed, attempting to shove him off. It was no use as he started to tickle her.

"Not until you call me Starlord!" He demanded as he continued to torture Ava.

"Never!" She said with a stubborn determination to hold her tongue from hus silly nickname from their mother. "Let me go!"

Peter shook his head with a laugh. "Say it Ava. Say-"

"Let her go, Peter before I make you." A condescending voice made him let go real quick. The one Ava's brother would always listen to. The two siblings looked over and saw Gamora standing in front of the two. She sent Ava a wink before she scolded Peter.

"I may not know what having a brother is like, but I know when a girl needs personal space from her sibling." Gamora stated as she crossed her arms with an eyebrow raised.

"Ha! See Gamora gets it!" Ava huffed out.

As well as adding another reason why she would want Gamora as her Sister-in-law. Ava only knew her for about a few months and yet became a huge fan of the former assassin instantly. Even learned some combat skills to use as a defense, incase of any major battles on their missions.

Gamora nodded with a hum of agreement to Ava's defense as she went to the table.

"I am Groot."

Ava heard behind her and looked to see the flora colossus teenager. About to reply but was cut off by Rocket coming down from the top deck of the Benatar

"No you can't play video games with Ava. You're going to rot your brain." He said crossing his arms. Groot rolled his eyes and groaned before standing over by one of the windows.

Rocket looked back at Ava with a sneer. "If you sneak him to you're room again I swear I'll destroy that precious game you brought from Terra, with whatever weapon I have on me."

"It's called a Nintendo Switch Rocket." She corrected.

Rocket waved a hand. "Don't push it Quill-et."

Ava rolled her eyes at the nickname before making a fake cough into her elbow. "Kill-joy."

The raccoon only snarled at her.

"Where are we off to today?" Ava asked as she grabbed a bag of dried fruit, in their stash of rations that was now down to very little.

Peter sighed. "Well, we do need to stop by Xandar to get some fuel. We also need some more food. We don't want to starve because someone ate almost everything."

Ava shrugged with an innocent smile as she put a piece of the snack in her mouth. "Don't look at me. I barely ate anything."

Mantis took that opportunity to call her out. "You did eat all of Drax's Zargnuts."

Ava pulled her lips into a straight line, sensing the betrayal from Drax who finally showed up next to her.

"It was you!?" He gasped.

Shaking her head and scrunching her nose, Ava replied. "Why would I do that Drax? It was Mantis, she is always stealing your Zargnuts like she did all of last week."

Drax gasped again as he dropped his jaw. Mantis frowned at Ava who rose her eyebrows as if it were payback.

"Why you calling me out Ava!?" She shouted at her half-sister.

Ava scoffed.  "You called me out first!"

"Well maybe you shouldn't eat the Zargnuts without asking!" Mantis added, getting louder.

"Oh would you two shut up!" Nebula yelled over the two of us. "It's bad enough when it's just Drax and Mantis that I have to deal with."

A red light put an end to the contention, catching everyone's attention on the holographic monitor. Peter made his way over as he opened it.

"A distress signal? We haven't had one in a while." Peter informed.

However the screen displayed a fuzz dark image, only providing a voice in despair.

"Alright, somehow crash landed to this strange planet. I don't know where I am and have no connection to Rebel Base. If anyone get this please come get me out of here. I don't know what dangers await me."

Rebel Base?

The voice was deep and had a unique roughness with it. It was demanding and bold.

Ava stepped next to her brother and tapped the screen, hoping to see the profile of the messenger. To everyone's surprise, it was blank. "It's from an unknown source," Something caught her eye. "But it looks like there message came from here." Ava pointed.

Underneath the empty profile, revealed Behert in big bold yellow letters.

Ava clicked back to the original message to listen to it again. The two Quill siblings shared a look. Both trying to decide if they should trust this message or not.

"I think we need to go save that person."

Ava broke the silence with one nod, earning a scowl from her brother who thought the opposite.

"Ava, we don't know where that message came from, who it is, or what it means, but I have a bad feeling about it." Peter protested.

She couldn't argue as he wasn't completely wrong as most distress signals were more descriptive on the senders location. It was also was odd that there was no name linked to it. But who would they be to leave whoever it is stranded?

Screw it!

Ava scoffed. "Wait, but aren't we The Guardians of the Galaxy? Aren't you supposed to help people? That's the job right?" She put her hands on her hips and weight in her back foot, lifting a finger up as she pointed it at Peter. "Not be cowards!"

Nebula stepped in as she crossed her arms and leaned her face in front of Ava's. "Quit trying to be a Saint all of the sudden Ava! You don't think we help people? What do you think we've all been doing?"

Ava couldn't believe after saving the universe 6 months ago how stubborn some of them could be.

"I'm not trying to be a Saint! Just trying to what's right, Nebula!" Ava snapped back.

A hand was placed on her shoulder as Peter did a favor by breaking the tension before it got worse.

"Ava, look, I know you want to save this stranger. But I don't want to risk loosing you again. Especially with that being barely any information. It could be a trap." Peter explained his opinion more so Ava could understand.

"I agree with Quill here." Rocket moved his way into the sibling debate. "Nebula and I just saved your butts with that rich guy with the glasses and his friends by bringing you all back from Thanks' snap."

Gamora nodded in agreement. "Thanos maybe gone, but there are still threats. Not to mention the Sovereign as pretty pissed at you guys? We should focus more on taking care of Xandar and other planets that are struggling to rebuild their homes and families. That's how we can help."

Ava knew Gamora was trying to maintain peace by compromising. Something that Ava liked but also got annoyed by sometimes. Soon Drax and Mantis sided with them as well. Groot, being a teenager, didnt really care as he continued to play with a random object on the table.

Their arguments made sense. How could they trust a message like that? For all they knew it could be a set-up.

They were all stubborn.

Unfortunately for them, so was Ava.

"I understand the concern, but what if this person really needs our help? We can't turn our back now when we have a chance." She said, with the tone of her voice softer.

She looked at her brother before shaking her head with a sigh. The others remaining silent as if she was crazy.

"You know what?" Ava sighed as she looked down with a shrug. "This message never existed and we can just forget it."

She put her hands in the air before the slapped on the sides of her leather pants. Starting to head toward the ladder to the top deck.

"No."

Ava paused. Looking over her shoulder, Ava saw Gamora standing up from her seat.

"We are going to go to Behert." She stated as she walked over to Ava. Gamora put her hand on Ava's shoulder with a soft smile. "And if it's just me and her then so be it. We will take the pod and return soon."

Gamora took Ava's hand and started to drag her towards the pod in the back.

A loud groan stopped the two.

Gamora and Ava shared a smirk as they knew Peter wouldn't let them go alone.

"Fine!" Peter whined. "We will go help this person. Exception, we will have huge precautions. And if they end up being a jerk, I will say I told you so."

Ava grinned more as she nodded. "Deal."

The Guardians arrived on Behert and decided Gamora, Peter and Ava would find the messenger. The rest of the team stayed with the ship just incase there was an ambush or other danger awaiting the group.

The three journeyed through the planets overgrowth and trying not to get tangled in vines. Peter told Ava this was where he met Ego and Mantis.

Ava also couldn't help but smile when she saw Peter and Gamora bushing hands as if they wanted them to link but far too hesitant all the same.

The trio got to a point were there still was no trace of life. No sign of a ship or nothing.

"What if we split up? We can cover more ground." Ava offered.

"Ava, you know one of us will die if we do that. Remember that one scary movie Mom used to watch after she put us to bed?" Peter said.

Ava shivered. "Never bring that movie again. I hated seeing that poor girl get stuck and then killed by some demon or something."

Gamora seemed lost. "Whatever entertainment you guys had on Terra, it will always confuse me."

"We didn't watch it by choice!" Peter said in defense. "We both were hungry in the middle of the night and snuck out of bed to to just get a snack."

Ava chuckled with a shutter. "But it was October and didn't realize Mom was watching an old horror film."

Gamora nodded. "Right. Terrans have that weird celebration for evil spirits. Don't know why you'd have a holiday for that."

"It was fun to wear costumes and get a bag full of free candy okay!?" Peter added.

Ava was about to run her brother under the bus by exposing the year he dressed up as a alien. Knowing there wasn't a space creature that existed and that Gamora would laugh so hard if she saw the photo.

But her moment of truth never came out of her mouth as she saw something rustling in the bushes.

"Hey!" Ava exclaimed and chased the unknown creature.

"Ava wait!" Gamora called.

Ava didn't and couldn't wait for them to follow. She continued to run towards the direction of rustling leaves. Ava kept hearing strange high-pitched noises echoing all over the place.

Probably a bird or an animal.

A small clearing appeared and Ava needed to catch her breath. She didn't notice how far ahead she was of her fellow Guardians.

"You almost gave me a heart attack!" Peter scolded as he grabbed her shoulders, trying to recover from that run.

A regretful smirk played on his sister's mouth and her eyebrows knitted together.

"Sorry, I-"

Her sentence is cut off as she noticed something behind Peter and Gamora.

Inside the bushes she saw a camera-like object. A sphere that was white with some sort of lense on the front. Ava pushed past her brother and his girlfriend yet again as she observed the thing in the bush.

Ava approached slowly. "Hello?" She greeted it as if someone was in a lab of screens of different locations.

The word left her mouth, the thing disappeared immediately, followed by more rustling leaves.

"Wait come back!" Ava took off running, ignoring the shouts from behind.

Ava did happen to see the object as she chased the thing. The camera was on top of what looked like a soccer ball with orange circles on it and it was...rolling?

Ava kept running and was determined to catch it. It could have been where the message came from.

She definitely wasn't paying attention that there was a steep hill ahead as she slipped and tumbled down the slope.

After she reached the bottom of the hill, Ava got up on her feet and saw a ship that crashed next to the bottom of a cliff. The little soccer ball rolled up to her with the camera angled up at her.

"Hello?" She repeated from earlier.

A high pitched cat call that sounded robotic come from the object.

Ava tilted her head in response as she crouched down in front of it. "Whoever is watching me through this camera, quit the whistling."

The camera head looked down and shook its head before making more beeping noises and rolled over to a ship.

Knowing she lost Peter and Gamora. Ava knew she was on her own to investigate. Her curiosity taking over as she wanted to know who sent that message. Ava pulled out a space gun just incase her brother's suspicions where correct

Curiously observing the ship that had crashed. Except this ship didn't look like any she had seen before on Xandar. It was gray, the wings forming the shape of an "X." Carefully approaching the strange looking ship, she noticed a red symbol on the side towards the back. Ava also noticed some sort of cracked window at the top. Something didn't feel right.

Peter was right. There was a bad feeling about this.

CLICK CLICK

Ava froze after hearing the gun like sound behind her.

"Hold it right there. " A voice followed.

The captivating voice from the message.
