Lucy and Natsu made it back to her house and unconsciously Natsu held onto her hand like before.

"Lady Lucy! I'm so glad you're back! We were starting to get worried about you!" Cried Spetto.

"Sorry about that spetto-san, we lost track of time and stayed longer then we thought." Lucy apologized while bowing.

"Alright. Would you Like us to prepare you something to eat?"

"No that's fine, you and everyone else can head off to sleep now if you'd like, I'll be in the backyard if you need me." And with that said, Lucy and Natsu walked out back.

Once they got to the open field, Lucy let Natsu go and sat down; Natsu did as well.

The night sky shined above them and a cool breeze passed by making the grass blades swish.

After a while of silence, Natsu finally spoke up.

"H-Hey Luce?" Lucy jumped up a bit.

"Yeah?"

"Thanks for helping me out back there." Was all he said. Something inside Lucy made her feel better just by hearing him say that, but also made her feel bad about what she caused.

"You really shouldn't be thanking me. I forgot to tell you that a gun was there. I mean, you could have been killed." Lucy gripped the grass underneath her in frustration.

"Come on Luce, don't...don't beat yourself up like that." Natsu scooted closer to her so now their shoulders were touching.

"Yeah but if I would have remembered then you wouldn't have!-"

"So you forgot, it's only human, right?"

"Why are you so calm about this??" Natsu sighed.

"I don't really know myself. But when it happened, it reminded me of something that happened a long time ago." Natsu looked up into the sky that was being lit by a crescent moon and small stars that were scattered all over.

"Do you....Do you want to talk about it? I mean if you don't It's perfectly fine, I don't want to force you to-"

"Actually I do." Lucy was taken back a bit by his straight forward answer.

"Go on.."

"You know the day we got separated?"

"Yeah?"

"Well the day before, I was with my mom eating dinner and my dad was at work. I was always curious as to what his job was. He never told me much because I was 'too young'.

So I waited until my mom fell asleep and I snuck out. I vaguely had an idea of where he worked but when I got there, they told me he didn't work there anymore. That he only stayed there for a week or two and left.

I was mad, no I was really pissed off at him for lying to us. And as I walked down the street to go back home and to tell my mom what I found out, I noticed someone familiar in a dark alleyway. I hid in a corner and could barely see it was my dad arguing with some guys.

"I won! So give me what you owe me!" I heard my dad yell.

"No way, you cheated! I ain't givin' you nothin'!" They yelled back at him. That's when I see him take out a gun from his pocket.

"Well how's this for cheating!" He yelled. Then I heard shot after shot.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

That sound rang in my ears and I watched as the other guys fell to the ground motionless.

When my dad collected what he got, he turned around as if to run but before he could; he saw me.

I could see the guilt in his eyes.

"Natsu." He rushed over to me "What are you doing here at this hour?" I stayed motionless, not knowing if the man before me was actually the kind and caring man I called my dad.

"C-Come on, let's get to home in to your warm bed alrig-" He was going to caress my face but I flinched back afraid that he might hurt me too.

He sighed to himself. And the last thing he said was "I'm sorry." And he left..

I stayed there frozen for a while not knowing what to do.

Once I processed what had happened, I ran back home and cried to my mother. I never told her what I saw because it felt like if I said it out loud, it would feel even more real.

And I guess I've been suppressing that memory until now that I heard the gun shot again." Natsu turned to look at Lucy who was also looking back but her tears we falling rapidly to the ground.

"I'm so sorry Natsu." She said with a sniff.

"It's okay Luce." Natsu placed his arm around her and hugged her close to him for comfort. "Remember what I told you before? We from fairy tail, we all have problems but we try to look past it, so that's what I have to do.

No.

Thats what you and I have to do. So what do you say we keep moving forward and continue our adventure?" Natsu gave Lucy his signature smile.

"Yeah." Lucy said returning his smile, making him blush slightly.

"One last thing Luce. I-I've been meaning to tell you this for a while but I never knew how to tell you. I-I."

"Wait." Lucy interrupted. She pulled apart from Natsu and looked straight at him. "I know what your going to say.." She looked down to her hands that were Now holding each other nervously.

"R-Really?"

"Yeah. And I want you to know that...I... feel the same way too. I don't know when it happened or how it happened...but it did." Now Lucy felt her cheeks reden as well.

"S-So what do you say?" Natsu asked nervously. Lucy took a deep breath before answering.

"I....I'm just not ready to get into another relationship Natsu. I just got out of one and with everything that's happened recently... I don't think it's the right time, ya know?" Now she was looking at him with sorry filled eyes.

"Yeah, I get it. But it doesn't mean that something couldn't happen in the future, right?" Lucy smiled a bit.

"There's a big chance something could."

"Then I'll keep on trying my best for you to see that I'm fully committed to winning you over. I've waited 10 years to see you again. I think I can wait a little long for you to be mine." He said with a final wink.

They both stare deeply into each others eyes and they could feel their hearts beating faster by the second.

"But...let me be selfish, this one time.." Natsu lifted his hand to cup her face and slowly pull her closer to him until their lips met.

It was perfect,

there's was no other way to describe how they felt in that moment. Their lips moved in sync as they scooted closer to each other.

All their problems washed away for what felt like an eternity. They truly felt happy for one moment in their lives.

Once they needed to take a break to breath, Natsu leaned his forehead to hers and said

"Love you Luce."

"I love you too Natsu."
