Arima Kousei POV:
My eyes opened in a very dark and empty space. The silence was blearing too much on my ears, too.
Where am I?
I don't remember how I got in this empty vacuum.
A few seconds later, I saw a shadow of my mother and father standing in front of me.
I stood immediately and ran to go to them but I can't seem to reach them.
The distance between me and my parents had kept on going farther until I wasn't able to reach them.
"Mom! Mom! Dad! Please don't leave me alone! Dad! Mom!"
I tried running to get to them but no matter how much I move my legs, I don't seem to reach them."Mom! Dad! Without you, my life had been nothing but useless! Please, don't leave me alone!"
I tried running more to get to them but my parents were still so distant from me. I cried harder and screamed, "Please don't leave me alone!"
I put my right hand on my chest as it feels like it's being stabbed repeatedly. I screamed harder due to the pain and tears fall on my eyes.
Because of the pain that it's giving me, I truly hoped to die. I couldn't breathe, and I can't move. My body's frozen in place.
"What is happening to me?" I asked myself. While my chest was aching, I collapsed and I could feel the dark, empty space absorbing me.
...
Seto Hiroko POV:
I just got back from my house to take Kousei's clothes when I saw the medical staff that consists of two doctors, and three nurses had entered Kousei's isolation room with a defibrillator with them.
I tried to get in to know what was happening but two of Kousei's bodyguards employed by the Japanese Government stopped me from moving further.
"Ma'am, the medical staff are attending to the patient. Please don't interfere," one of them told me. "You may interrupt them."
I had no choice but to look at the glass window after I was prevented to even look at him inside his room. When I finally came to look at him by the glass window, it was a shock to me that they're giving him CPR since his heart monitor's in a flat line.
When the defibrillator's ready, Doctor Sakamoto Jane, a Japanese-American put it on his chest several times. I looked at Kousei while he's still on the bed. I could see his very pale face. He's still in a life support tube.
I hate to say it but the machine could be the only one giving him life. He truly looked so broken and frail. Drops of tears broke on my eyes painfully. I feel faint while I was seeing Saki's son in pain.
A male nurse closed the curtains as the two doctors, Dr. Sakamoto and Dr. Akizawa try to save Kousei's life to give them privacy.
Genichi appeared behind me and when he became aware that I'm still standing near Kousei's room while his doctors were trying to revive him, he hugged me while my tears were falling down my cheeks. "We already know who tried to kill him and who killed his father. You know that I'm the secretary of the Prime Minister, right?"
"Who did this to Kousei, Genichi? He doesn't deserve this pain! He's just a boy!" I asked him as I cry.
He touched my wet cheeks and dried it using his thumb. "I can't tell you, yet. Forgive me, Hiroko but I am assuring you that he will be safe and the suspect won't be able to touch him again."
After a while, Drs. Jane and Akizawa went out of Kousei's room to face me and my husband.
"Doctor Akizawa, what happened to Kousei?" I asked them. "I saw that his heart went into a flatline! What happened to him?"
It was Dr. Akizawa who answered after I dried all of my tears, "Kousei's heart suddenly went into heart arrest. We immediately resuscitated him before it's too late."
"How is Kousei now?" Genichi asked him.
"The patient's still fighting for his life. We will keep on monitoring him. After the last blood test we took, we found out that his immune system is back. He will soon be located again in the ICU," he said to us.
I looked back again at the other side of the transparent glass after a nurse opened it.
Kousei's heartbeat is already stable.
The two doctors lowered their heads respectfully at me before they left.
...
Two weeks after Kousei was brought in the ICU, the doctors and his bodyguards allowed me to get in. As they say, he's getting better now. Even if his body's immune system is back, he's still in a life support tube.
My husband joined me in the ICU with our daughter. "What happened to nii-san? Will he be okay?" Koharu asked us.
Genichi and I hugged her. "Koharu, he will be okay."
After that, he told me, "There are two women outside of the ICU. The hospital and the government only allow three people in his room to allow Kousei to recuperate. Should I let them in?"
"Who are they?" I asked as I clean Kousei's face and hands with a white towel.
"They said that they are Tsubaki and Kaori," he told me.
I stood straight in front. "Yes. Let them in, Genichi," I said to him.
He opened the door and left with Koharu. When the door of Kousei's room opened, Tsubaki and Kaori entered the room.
"What happened to him, Seto-san?" his childhood friend asked me.
Kousei's two important women sat side by side after I allowed them to be with him for a while and listen to him breathe.
"Whatever happened to him is confidential. Forgive me. I can't tell you," I said to them as I give his friends privacy.
...
After I went out of his room, my husband and an unexpected guest, Prime Minister Nakamichi approached me with Kousei's mental health doctors.
"Why are they here, Genichi?" I shouted at him. "Get them out of here!!!!"
"Hiroko, they're just here to see Arima Kousei. Can they get in?" he asked me.
I shook my head. "You can't get in yet. Please, let Kousei's friends be with him. They still can't accept that he's going through so much. You may see him as a target of a criminal group and his father's knighted by an emperor, even so, he is just a majorly depressed boy that needs love and attention."
"I understand. I will wait for his friends to go out of his room. I think it is also better that as we wait, I should be the one to tell you facts about what we have learned in the investigation," he spoke up behind me.
"Information? What are they?" I asked him as I face him upright.
"We also want to ask you if you know a man named Okata Jun?" Dr. Akizawa asked me.
"Okata Jun was a classmate of Saki. She is Kousei's mother," I answered him. "Why are you asking me?"
"He's the suspect that we believe attempted to murder Arima Kousei and the man that murdered Sir Arima Takahiko. We also believe that if he learns that Kousei is still alive, he will attack him, again," he said as he steps back away from Kousei's room.
I was speechless by what they all told me. "Why, Kousei? Why is Jun so angry with the Arimas?"
"The Arimas is an old, rich clan. We still can't tell you everything but what's important is for him to be transferred safely in a more secure hospital. Lastly, it is Kousei's right to know the other important details concerning his father," Genichi replied to me.
"I understand. When and where will you take him?" I asked.
"At the time his doctors tell us that it is safe for him to travel. If we cannot take him out of here due to her condition, we will add more people who could protect him," Dr. Mika said to me.
"We have to wake him up," I told him.
My words shocked them.
"Are you sure about it?" Genichi asked me.
"Yes, call his doctors. We have to wake him," I said to them. "I don't know when he would wake up. If we wake him up, he might recover faster."
"Wasn't it dangerous to wake him now?" Genichi asked me.
"We will know after he wakes up," I told him.
...
A few minutes after I asked them to call Kousei's doctors in the hospital, Dr. Jane asked me inside Kousei's room, "Are you really sure about this?"
"Yes. I'm sure of it," I answered her. "Wake him up."
After a while, they injected a medicine in Kousei's IV line. They asked us to wait for him to open his eyes. It took us several hours before the effects of the medicine to show up.
That late-night, when I entered his room, I found his eyes open. I cried in relief to see him awake but he looks so forlorn and pale. His eyes seemed so tired, too. I could see that he's afraid and confused. I touched his cold, right hand to tell him that I am beside him. "I'm here, Kousei."
When he sensed me, his fears vanished slowly. His eyes closed again after that.
"Kousei, I know you are in pain right now. Don't forget that you still have me as your second mother. I do love you like I was the one that gave birth to you! I will always be here. You don't need to be afraid anymore. I won't let you get hurt again," I cried as I hug him tightly.
