Chapter 3 - Together we are strong

The four ninja and their sensei sailed through the icy waters of the icy desert. Huge glaciers made safe travel almost impossible. "I see something that you don't see and that is...white", said Jay, who was leaning against the rail near the helm. "Hey, can't you just be quiet? I have to concentrate! ", Cole replied annoyed, pointing to the steering wheel in his hand. A jerk made Jay hold on to the railing before he could say anything. "I see what you don't see and that's broken!"

Kai and Zane stood on deck. The younger rubbed his hands tremblingly, while the older one did not seem to be affected by the cold. "If the sensei knows the way to the next golden weapon, why isn't he steering the ship?", Kai asked trembling as he looked at Wu, who was standing on one leg on the ship's figurehead, a dragon head. Zane followed his gaze before turning his head to the Master of Fire and saying: "The wisdom of Sensei exceeds mine." "The true power of Spinjitzu can only unfold when these four elements are united:...", said the white-bearded man, as he turned to the deck and jumped off the figurehead, "...earth, ice, fire, lightning." As he said this, he assumed different poses for each element. Jay had joined the other two and asked: "Hey! And what happens when everyone is united?" "The tornado of creation. The power to create something big out of nothing." When Wu said this, he didn't suddenly take a teacup out of it and turned away. >Did that also include a heat source?< Thought Kai, trembling, before trying to imitate Wu's movements. He paused when he heard Kai, turned around and said firmly: "No, Kai! If you don't do it right, it can have adorable consequences." This made the teen pause in his movement. "What kind of adoring...?" He was interrupted when a jerk went through the ship and he, Jay and Zane lost their balance. A grinding sound, like walking through snow, made him look up after he sat up again. His eyes widened when he saw the sails suddenly freeze. "Um, it wasn't me!", said Cole and let go of the ship's controls. The master of fire wandered questioningly to Sensei Wu when he asked: "Did I do that?" He slowly walked towards the railing when he answered: "No. We have achieved our goal." The ninja's eyes followed his. Ahead of them an icy path, marked with torii made of ice, led to a mountain that seemed to spew snow and ice: the Ice Temple.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The four of them had almost reached the entrance of the mountain after walking for a while. They walked cautiously through the ice corridors. Here and there they saw the frozen skeletons of poor souls who had probably tried to get to the shuriken of ice. "Wow, looks like someone did a great job here," said Cole after a while, while they looked around.

To say that Kai was relieved to finally arrive in the chamber where the shuriken were located would have been an understatement. His relief quickly faded when he saw the shuriken hanging in the air...under the open mouth of a light blue dragon with golden yellow eyes. What the dragons, besides their looks, of the difference they had already encountered was that their wings were not attached to their backs but to their arms. "The shuriken!"

The four of them stood under them and looked up. "And how do we get there?", asked the master of lightning. "Robber leader!", Cole said. He, Jay, and Kai picked Zane up so he could grab the shuriken. But no sooner had his hand touched the weapon, he suddenly froze to ice and the dragon's mouth slowly began to open. The three exchanged a look as ice fell slowly from above. The three grabbed their frozen friend and ran screaming towards the exit while the dragon began to chase them. It was probably needless to say that Kai was not exactly comfortable in his position, he was the last one. They rounded a corner and ran through a, for the dragon, to small gap and escaped as its snapping it's mouth. Somehow the three of them stumbled and landed on the Frozen Zane and slid back down the path they had come. Their journey always ended when they crashed into an iceberg and so de-iced the master of the ice again. At least it was right next to the ship. Wu looked at his four students, who were lying on the ground, before he took out the map and pointed to their next target: "There are the nunchucks of lightning.* We have to hurry!"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After a long climb, the four had finally left the rock behind and had climbed the lower end of the construct, which reached far into the sky, when Zane looked down and discovered a small army of skeletons that followed them. "We're being followed!" "Let's get out of here!", said Jay, before he was the first to climb the meter-long chain. Closely followed by Kai, Cole and Zane.

They were probably halfway up when Kai looked up and saw a similar metal tower as at the beginning. A smile formed under his mask as lightning flashed around him. >You'd think we're climbing a nunchucks.

The Master of Lightning was the first to look over the edge of the summit and see the nunchucks. "All right!" He pulled himself up and grabbed the golden weapon as the heads of the others peered over the edge. He had just turned when lightning struck directly behind him. Slowly he turned around and faced a blue dragon. His blue and white sparkling eyes looked straight at him. The dragon opened its mouth and Jay turned and jumped from the top. "Juhu!" The other ninja did the same. Some of the skeletons watched in surprise as they went by. It would surely have been a suicidal act if the four hadn't carried backpacks with Jay's glider invention. The ninja pulled at the same time on a string, the wings folded open and caught the wind. Slowly and sinking they began to move away. Kai was the only one who looked back again. His eyes narrowed when he spotted the laughing Samukai. >Why is the skeleton laughing? We have finally captured the Golden Weapon and are about to thwart their plans.< He shook his head. Now was not the time to worry about it! They were approaching a forest and he certainly had no intention of crashing into a tree just because he was lost in thought.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The night had broken in and a fire gave them light as well as warmth. Cole drummed on bongos while Jay danced to them and Zane nodded his head rhythmically. Sensei Wu sat in a meditating pose in front of the blazing fire, the three golden weapons in front of him. And Kai? He was sitting on the lowest branch of a nearby tree and was thinking. >Something is wrong there. Why should Samukai laugh when we got the Golden Weapon? It doesn't make sense! Should I tell the others about it or will they think I'm paranoid?<

The Master of Fire was ever torn out of his mind when Jay called him: "Hey Kai, come on! Celebrate with us!" "Uh what? Uh, yes, of course." The brunette jumped off the branch and joined the others again. "And you too, Sensei!" "We're still missing a weapon! We should rest! ", replied the white-bearded man and gave the red-brunettes a quick look before looking back towards the fire. "Oh Sensei. Finally admit it! We show it this wood heads. You wanted to show us some cool tricks!", agreed Cole and stopped drumming for a moment. Wu bowed his head for a moment and thought before looking up again and saying, "Hmm, yes I could do that." He got up and took a pose. "For example, this is very special." "But if you don't do it right, it can have adorable consequences", Zane said, confused. The others had to laugh. "Man, Zane, you just made a joke! The sense of humor, you've finally found it", said Kai.

Cole started drumming again while Sensei Wu made some movements and said to the rhythm of the bongos: "Move quickly, move gently. "Once around, yes, feel the power. Wuh! Then in a circle and good night!" The ninja couldn't help but laugh before they began to dance themselves. The others were right. They shouldn't worry now and just have some fun. But Kai couldn't shake the feeling that something was about to happen...something big.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The fire had long gone out while the ninja and you Sensei slept peacefully. Kai was startled when he heard a noise. Had he just imagined it or hadn't someone just called him? "Kai!", came a quiet voice from the darkness. The brunette looked around. The voice had to have an origin somewhere. "Kai!" His gaze caught on a figure, he could only see the outline of it. But that voice, that was... "Nya?" He got up slowly. Had she escaped the skeletons? If so, how and how did she find him in the middle of nowhere? "I have to go!", she said before turning and running deeper into the forest. "Nya, wait!" He started to follow her. "Not so fast! Why are you running away?!" His sword lay forgotten in the night.

He didn't know how long he had been chasing after his sister. Again and again he lost sight of her briefly before he discovered her again. >Why doesn't Nya stop?< He broke through the undergrowth and his brown-green eyes widened. A huge volcano rose before him. A torii stood at the entrance of a bridge that led to a huge complex. Gigantic gates that were built into further torii led deeper and deeper through the walls to a temple. >Is that the fire temple?< His gaze caught on the person who was walking across the bridge towards the temple. In the pale moonlight, Kai could see his sister's black hair and red dress. Kai started moving again and chased after Nya.

He pushed against the doors of the temple, which opened with a creak. The air was hot and sticky. But nothing he couldn't cope with, after all, he had grown up in a forge. He looked around as he walked the narrow stone path deeper and deeper into the temple. Molten rock flowed on either side, which illuminating the chamber. In front of him loomed a rock formation that looked like a huge mouth of a monster. At the end of the path there was a small plateau in the middle of which was the last golden weapon: the sword of fire. But that didn't interest him at the moment, he tried to find his sister. >She can't have vanished into thin air!

His gaze wandered on until he landed back on the plateau. Nya stood there in front of the sword. "Nya!", shouted Kai happy when he saw his little sister and ran up to her. "No fear. I'm right here, brother", she said. But as she spoke, the black-haired teen began to change. Her voice got darker and darker until it sounded like a man's and her appearance got more and more translucent, darker and bigger until it took on a huge shadow of a man. Red glowing eyes stared down at the master of fire. He paused in place and stared back before he snarled and named the name of the dark shadow: "Garmadon." He raised his hand and stretched it to his back, where he had otherwise attached his sword, and reached into vacancy.

"Hehe. Haven't you forgotten something?", came the mocking voice of the lord of the underworld. Curse himself for leaving his weapon behind, he slowly backed away as he said in a firm voice: "You can't do anything to me! You are banished! Trapped in the underworld!" "And that's why you will get me the sword of fire", said the shadow and leaned forward slightly. "No, I won't do that!" "Yes you will." Kai raised his arms protectively in front of his face when the shadow suddenly flew towards him and disappeared. He looked around carefully when he heard a chain rattle and looked at the stone formation. Kai believed his heart would stop at the sight that presented him. Tied in chains, Nya hung over the seething lava. He could see the fear in her eyes when she saw him. "KAI!" "NYA!" "If you don't pull out the sword, how are you going to cut the chains to save your beloved little sister?", came Garmadon's voice from the walls. "Kai, no! It's a trap!" She began to wriggle in her chains. "I can...somehow... free myself! Nirrr. Oh man. They're stuck." A scream escaped her throat as the chains slowly lowered. His mind was completely blank when he saw this. He remembered what he had promised her weeks ago, before this all started. "At least we still have each other and I'll always be there for you." "Promise?" "Promise!" "NYA!" He ran. "Time is running!" He didn't care what would happen, what consequences his actions would have. He only had one thing in mind: to save his sister! He jumped from rock to rock, across the lava, towards the plateau. He snapped his sword in a flip and landed safely on his feet again. "Ninja Go!" He almost flew to Nya, cut the chain, caught her and landed with her safely on a small side path.

The dark lord's laughter echoed off the walls as Kai helped Nya up. Strengthening his grip on the weapon, he strode slowly across the path, closely followed by the black-haired teen. He looked around carefully for any possible danger. Without turning around he said to her: "Stay with me!" "I'm not going anywhere here, you can believe me!" The shadow blocked their way. Kai raised the sword and said: "You can't hurt us! You are only a shadow!" "Never underestimate a shadow!" Every fiber of his body screamed: Danger! While Kai looked around for the shadow. It was Nya's warning call that prevented his too early end. In front of the master of fire stood his own shadow with red glowing eyes. "Stay over there, Nya!" She had already taken cover behind a rock nearby and said: "Stay with me! Stay back there! Could you make up your mind?!" The brunette didn't respond to this statement. He struck a few times with the sword, but to his horror it just went through the shadows. The shadow stepped in and sent Kai to the ground, right next to the rock which Nya was behind. "Those are lousy tricks!" She shouted angrily as her brother slowly straightened up. "I thought you liked tricks", Garmadon said innocently as Kai's shadow multiplied. Now it was no longer a shadow, but 10! >Damn it! I can't hit the shadow, but he can hit me and now there are 10 of them!< He gave Nya a concerned look. >I can't let these things get too close to her!< The brunette knew it was a stupid move, but they were after the Golden weapon, right? He struck, knowing that it would not work, and continued on down the narrow path. The shadows bring down on him. Nya covered her eyes while she heard her brother moan. One of the shadows managed with the shadow of the sword to strike the very one from Kai's hand before kicking him to the ground. The golden weapon clattered to the ground, out of reach of the red-clad teen.

Kai sat up, trembling, his body hurt like hell, and saw one of the shadows pick up the sword of the fire. Suddenly another shadow appeared on the wall, sensei Wu's. The white-bearded man stood in a fighting stance with his nin-jo on a nearby rock in the middle of the lava. Kai's shadow doubles turned to the Spinjitzu master's shadow before he began to fight. The Smiths watched in amazement as the shadow of Wu repulsed every attacker. Kai felt like a huge idiot when he realized something: A fire can only be fought with fire and a shadow only with a shadow! Suddenly Wu's shadow disappeared and that of an eagle appeared on the wall. The shadow doubles fled from the shadows that Wu had created with his hands. He giggled a little before kicking the last shadow that held the sword of fire. He then jumped to the end of the path and caught the sword before it hit the ground. "Brother, I see you're protecting one. But what about the other three?" Wu held the sword pointed at the shadow that had reappeared on the plateau in the middle. Kai and Nya stood next to Wu and did not let the shadow out of his eyes. "They are safe. You can't harm them, Garmadon!" "I wouldn't be so sure", replied Garmadon's shadow and clasped his hands before they emitted a bright blue light and a picture of the camp appeared.

The eyes of the Master of Fire and the Sensei widened when they saw the other three being tied up by the skeletons and being pulled up a tree while Samukai held the golden weapons in his hands.

The image and the shadow disappeared. "Under no circumstances may my brother combine the four weapons! We have to prevent that!", Wu said and jumped from rock to rock onto the plateau, followed by the Smith siblings. Garmadon's shadow rose over the wall as he called: "Wake Guardians in the Deep! They steal the sword! You mustn't let them escape!" Wu was in the jump at that moment when he landed on the guard's head and had to jump back. A red dragon with yellow eyes rose from the lava in front of them and blocked the way. The dragon roared before Nya started screaming in fear. The dragon's fiery tail struck the ceiling of the cave at the entrance and blocked the only escape route. Kai stood protectively in front of his sister when the dragon went into attack position. "It blocked the exit. There is no other way out!" "Yes, except for one." Confused, the siblings looked at the white-bearded man. He jumped to the edge of the plateau and raised his sword. "Sensei, what are you doing?!" The blade hit the rock and let the resulting 'island' slowly drive off the lava flow with Wu. "No, you fool!", shouted the Lord of the Underworld angrily. "If he brings all the other weapons here, then I will take the sword of fire to the underworld!", Wu said before sitting cross-legged and putting the sword on his knees, "That's the only thing I can do." "No, I'm going! It's all my fault! I should have known it was a trap when I noticed that ''Nya'' was acting strange! Please stay here! There is definitely another way!", protested Kai. The rock was already well worn when Wu took out a teapot and mug from behind his back. He calmly poured himself something before falling into the depths. "NO!" Kai's voice echoed in the temple before he fell to his knees. "Then we will meet there, brother!" And with that Garmadon's shadow disappeared completely.

"What have I done?", the master of the fire breathed dejectedly, "The sensei will not be able to hold out long!" Nya looked at her brother pityingly when a growl reminded her that the two were not alone. Slowly she turned around and said: "The question is: how long can we hold out?" Immediately Kai jumped to his feet again and stood protectively in front of his sister as the dragon slowly approached. Growling, the latter bowed his head as Nya clung to the brunette's red Gi. Suddenly Kai remembered a conversation with his father, which they had shortly after his 10th birthday: "Tell me Kai. Which do you think is the most trustworthy animal there is?" "The dog!" "And why do you believe that?" "Well because dogs are loyal and... because they protect their homes and their owners!" "Hehe. Those are good reasons, but should I tell you what I think is the most trustworthy animal?" "Yes!" "I think they are...dragons." "Dragons? Like in fairy tales and legends?" "Yes, just like them." "Why?" "Because dragons are just as loyal as dogs, once you have won their trust, if not more loyal. They stay by your side and protect those who consider them worthy." "And how can you gain their trust?" "That depends entirely on the situation. But the important thing is that you show them that you are not a threat. You have to talk to them calmly and if you're lucky, then maybe he'll let you ride on him too." "Nya?" "Yes, Kai?" "I'm about to do something and you have to trust me no matter what, OK?" "Okay." She let go of his gi and he slowly approached the dragon with his hands raised. The latter looked at him with a growl when Kai began to speak in a calm voice: "Hey big boy. We don't want to hurt you!" The dragon opened its mouth and roared the ninja directly in the face. He had just closed his eyes when the hot breath blew into his face. He opened them again and went on talking. "I know you should protect the sword of fire. And I'm sorry that I just took it. But I also had to protect something, too, my little sister." Kai looked over his shoulder at Nya. The dragon followed his gaze and slowly lowered his wings/arms when he looked back at the brunette. "The only thing I wanted to do with the sword was to save my sister and then protect her. Just like you did. In the beginning I didn't really want to have anything to do with any of this. The only thing I wanted was to save my sister! But I started to see the big picture and I understood that as the protector of the sword, I cannot only protect my sister. No, I can protect all of Ninjago! But for that I need your help. So what do you say?" Waiting, Kai looked at the dragon. He bowed his head and looked at him for a while before he gently pushed against Kai with these. The master of fire smiled and stroked the pangolin. The dragon lowered itself and motioned him to sit on his back. Kai pulled his mask back on and took his sister's hand before approaching the dragon's back. "Come on, Nya, it's time we got out of here!" As soon as the two sat safely on his back, the dragon rose again and began to soar into the air with its mighty wings. They came out through a hidden crack in the ceiling and were greeted by the cool night air.**

They were circling high above the temple when Kai looked down and saw three color splotches at the entrance to the temple. "Hey, my friend, can you land in front of the entrance of the temple?" The dragon made a kind of cooing noise before it started to land.

They were already within earshot but could not yet be seen by the others when Kai heard Zane's voice: "The sword of fire was here. Our friends too, but I only feel disaster here. We are too late! The weapons of the elements have left this realm and are now in the underworld. Friends, the end is near!" "Oh, great. The only place where no mortal can go", Cole sighed, who had sat down on the steps of the temple. At that moment Kai decided to make himself noticeable. "We may not be able to get there..." The other three ninja looked around in surprise before they heard the beat of the wings and looked up. The dragon landed a few meters away when Kai continued. "... but a dragon can!" As if on command, the dragon put its head back and let out a loud roar. Cole jumped up startled, before he jumped behind the next rock with a small cry and carefully peeked out. Jay and Zane just looked at him with open mouths. "Our father told us many stories about gragons. That they are mystical beings that belong to both worlds and fly back and forth between them", Nya explained as Kai got off the dragon's back. "What? W... are you crazy?", came the stunned Master of the Earth. "Once he realized that we only want to protect the sword of fire, he behaves like a cuddly kitten!", said the red ninja and stroked the dragon's scales. He tilted his head and rubbed it against Kai, which made him laugh. "Hey, that's tickles." Nya held her hand over her mouth while she giggled. Then she looked at the other boys. Jay tried to say something but no word would come out of his mouth while he looked at the black-haired girl. Zane came to his rescue and did the speaking for him. "He's speechless. But he wants to know if you like blue?" The blue-eyed nodded with a smile on his lips. "This is my favorite color!" The Master of Lightning clenched his hand into a fist and pulled it down. If he could have spoken, he would surely have cheered for joy. "Oh man," said Kai, shaking his head when Nya landed on the ground next to him.

The brunette pulled the mask off his head and turned to his sister. "Nya." "That mean saying goodbye, doesn't?", she asked sadly. He nodded, with the same sad expression on his face as her. "Please take care of yourself and come back safe and sound! I don't feel like doing the work in the shop alone." "I promise you, I won't be gone long!" He said and got back on the dragon. "Until you're back, I'll leave a candle lit in front of our shop." Jay and Zane joined Kai on the dragon's back. "Uh ... you'd better go alone! He huh, unfortunately there is not enough space on this...thing", the black-haired teen tried to talk his way out, while the dragon looked at him a little offended. Apparently he didn't like being called a 'thing'. "You are right, Cole. But I know how we can change that", said Kai with a smile. He knew the leader would certainly not like his idea.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Uuh. Ahh. Carefully! Not so fast! ",Cole shouted fearfully, while he clung to the saddle of the earth dragon.*** "Woh, that's crazy!", Kai called instead, who, like Zane and Jay, sat relaxed in the saddles of their dragons. "Yeah, that's pretty fun", agreed the white-clad teen who was flying next to him.

"And how do the dragons get over in the underworld?", asked the master of earth when the four flew next to each other. "I think we'll find out in a minute!", shouted the Master of Fire when the dragons suddenly began to fly towards the ground. Everyone except Jay started screaming as the ground got closer and closer and they got faster and faster. Without warning, the dragons began to spin on themselves, creating a vortex that enveloped them in their own element. Similar to the Spinjitzu of the four masters. They were only a few meters from the ground when a kind of portal seemed to open there. They flew by and darkness met them.

When the four of them could see again, they were in a huge tunnel, full of glowing crystals around them. "Is it over?", Cole wanted to know who brought up the rear. Kai, who led the way, shouted over his shoulder: "Don't think so! I hope these dragons know what they're doing!" In front of them the tunnel split into two forks Kai and Cole's dragons flew into the left tunnel, Jay and Zane's dragons into the right tunnel.

Stalactites and stalagmites crossed their path. But the dragons skillfully flew these obstacles as well as the fire that shot from individual crevices. At the end of the tunnel, the team came back together. Kai looked to the side and saw Zane showing him his thumb. He noticed something blue above him and tilted his head back. Jay flew upside down and looked at with a happy twinkle in his eyes. The Master of Fire shook his head and looked forward again before he noticed anything. "They're getting faster. Hold on! "A bright light blinded her before it got dark again.

It was slowly getting lighter in front of them and Kai could see an exit. The dragons slid to a stop and accidentally threw their riders out of their saddles. "It looks like we made it", said Cole, as the four of them straightened up and looked at the floating islands of the underworld. Surprised, they looked at each other's Gis before looking down at themselves. The design of this had changed a bit. The strings and their markings were gone. Instead, dragons, which looked like the respective elemental dragons, were now depicted, which spewed the appropriate element. Only when they saw the backs of the others did they realize that their markings had moved there and that their respective names were under them. "The Sensei is here!", Zane said and looked at a larger island below them, where there were already many skeletons. The others joined him before Kai said: "They are waiting for us!" They had to find a way to get past the skeletons unseen.

The ninja clung silently over the skeletons to the stalactites. Kai followed with his gaze a piece of rock, which had broken off the stalactite to which he was hanging, and how it fell on the head of a skeleton and knocked it out. Concentrating on what was happening again, he began to shimmy further.

Narrow stalactites appeared before them, growing close together. Jay brought up the rear when he jumped on this. He looked up and his eyes widened when he looked into the red of a giant spider. Still silent, he tried to draw the others' attention to their problem. "Well I, for my part, find Jay much more pleasant since he lost his voice", said Cole, who was hanging next to Kai, when he heard the gurgling of the blue clad teen. Suddenly the ''rock'' they were holding on began to move and they looked up. In shock, they let go, Jay too, and fell into the middle of the square.

Coughing, the ninja tried to get air back into their lungs when they heard the voice of a skeleton ask: "Uh, if there is more than one ninja, do you say ninjas or just ninja?" "I think it's just called ninja." "Oh, okay then: NINJA!" The four of them had meanwhile got back on their feet, drew their weapons and stood back to back while the skeletons began to encircle them. "It looks like there are 10 bone heads for each of us", said Cole, when his gaze wandered over the opponents, "I think I like this." His enthusiasm soon disappeared when the spiders also left rappel down the deck. "Oh oh! Do any of you have any brilliant ideas? I would be grateful for any suggestion!", asked Kai. He pushed some skeletons back with his sword when they came too close. Jay had an idea and tried to pronounce it: "Orao on riton." "Huh?" "You feel a weird sensation?", said Cole uncertainly. He, Zane and Kai turned to their silent friend, who shook his head. "You ate an odd crustacean?", Zane speculated. "Tor... torado of beation." "I got it! I got it! Two minutes on vacation!", said Kai. Jay was frustrated before he cleared his throat and found his voice again: "TORNADO OF CREATION!" "Ooooh", the three of them says synchronized before Zane patted the master of lightning on the back. "Say that right away!" "But it could have had very adoring consequences", pointed the master of earth out. "There are other adoring followers here!", replied Kai as the skeletons and spiders closed their circle around them. "Come on, let's do it! EARTH!" The first skeletons fell back. "FIRE!" "ICE!" "LIGHTNING!" The four Spinjitzu vortices came closer and closer as the four shouted: "Ninja Go!" Their Spinjitzu merged and created a gigantic tornado in which you could see each of they elements. Their opponents backed away. But they were pulled into the wake of the tornado. Along with some vehicles and other objects standing around. The tornado split into four again before the boys stopped. They were amazed when they saw the result of the tornado of creation. In front of them was a Ferris wheel in the gondolas of which their opponents were sitting, one of the skeletons had even got cotton candy from somewhere, but the other knocked it out of his hand. Kai was the first to tear himself away from this sight. "Come on! We mustn't lose any time!" With that, they began to descend an endless spiral staircase.

No sooner had they reached the end of the stairs, they ran through an archway and stopped. In front of them, on a small platform, Sensei Wu and Samukai were fighting with the golden weapons. Neither of them seemed to gain the upper hand, even though Samukai used three of the weapons. The others were already stepping forward to support the white-bearded man when Kai spread his arms and blocked their way. "No, this is Sensei's fight!" Cole looked at him with a raised eyebrow before his gaze wandered back to the fight. Wu fired a jet of fire at the skeleton with his sword. This dodged and threw the shuriken. Wu blocked this, but he accidentally thrust the sword into the ground, where it was covered in ice. The ninja looked worriedly at their sensei when Samukai began to rotate the nunchucks. A bolt of lightning flew towards him before Wu managed to free the sword and roll it out of the way at the last moment. Samukai pushed the scythe into the ground and it began to split. Only now did the boys discover the lord of the underworld on the other side of the room, sitting on a throne of bones. He wore armor that was darker than the dark night and a helmet with a bone on it. He had jet-black skin, red glowing eyes and sharp, flashing teeth. Again Samukai threw the shuriken, which Wu devalued and jumped into the air. But suddenly the skeleton shot another lightning bolt at the Spinjitzu master and took him out of the air. The sword fell to the ground with a clang. Samukai walked slowly towards this when Wu straightened up again.

"Come on. Bring me the weapons!", Garmadon ordered the skeleton as it picked up the sword. "No. From now on you will obey me!", he said and turned to the dark lord. He started to laugh before the golden weapons suddenly began to swing. Wu jumped to his students and observed this when he said: "Nobody can tame their whole power alone." Samukai was horrified to see how the swing became stronger and his arms were dragged along. "You are really a hollow head", said Garmadon, "did you really think I hadn't planned your betrayal?" "What is happening to me?", Samukai shouted, when from nowhere the howling of the wind was hear. The dark lord leaned back in his throne. "Well, that fits my plan perfectly. Not even I can tame all of they power at once! But now that they are all united, a path through time and space can emerge and finally allow me to escape this horrible place!" The swing of the weapons grew stronger, like the wind before Samukai turned and said: "Oh oh!" Fear was in the eyes of the skeleton before it was lifted into the air, began to spin and disappeared with a scream.

Garmadon had already risen from his throne when the weapons fell to the ground. He jumped onto the platform and turned to the emerging portal. "Our father wouldn't want you to do that, brother!", Wu tried to keep the older one from leaving. He turned around and hissed: "Well, our father is no longer here!" The ninja and her sensei had to cover their eyes when the light from the portal began to dazzle them. "GOOD and EVIL, there has always been a balance. Wherever I go this balance can be destroyed!" Wu tried to see his brother beyond the light, but was unable to do so. "Soon I will be strong enough to tame the four golden weapons and then I will recreate the world according to my ideas!" He turned away and was about to step through the portal when he stopped again, turned around and pointed to Wu. The bitterness could be clearly heard in the voice of the dark lord: "You... you had always been his favorite son!" With that he finally turned to the portal and stepped through.

The light grew brighter before it disappeared with the portal. The five jumped onto the platform by the Golden Weapons when Wu said, "He's gone, but he'll be back for sure." The ninja picked up the weapon that went with them when Kai said resolutely: "Than we'll be prepared!" "We definitely have to prevent that he ever gets this!", added Cole. Wu looked proudly at his students when he said, "Well, then I've done my duty. The balance has been restored...for now!"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The ninja flew on their dragons, Wu rode with Cole, to Ignacia. Kai could already see the first houses when the dark clouds that had covered the sky since the skeletons appeared disappeared. Kai pulled his mask off his head as his dragon began to land. Nya ran out of the forge beaming with joy. "Kai!" Slowly the villagers began to get closer while the other dragons landed too. The Master of Fire took his sister in his arms. "Hey, what about me?", Jay called after he got off his dragon and walk to the siblings. Nya broke away from her brother and hugged the red-brunette. Kai just shook his head with a smile. If they hadn't become friends, the master of lightning would surely get to know his other side.

The villagers began to cheer as Zane, Cole, and Wu got off their dragons. "I'm so happy that you are back", Nya said to her brother. "Yes, for now", he replied to her. She looked a little confused at the older one. "But it's not over yet! Lord Garmadon will return! "The villagers fell silent. "And we need to be prepared!", said Cole as he and Zane approached before the villagers started cheering again and the four put on their masks. Knowing that this would only be the beginning of their adventure.

* Does any of you have any idea what this place was called? I tried to find something in the internet and couldn't find anything.

** I know that in the original the temple split up and they came out like that, but I thought that was a little ''unrealistic'' for the story. Hope you like my version anyway.

*** Okay two things. First: where do the saddles suddenly come from? Second: Where did they get the new Gi's and when did they change?

Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know that it will be a while before the next chapter comes out.

My friend and I haven't gotten around to translating the story lately because we're both really stressed at the moment. That is also the reason why nothing came last week.

Hope to see and see you again as soon as it goes on.

Greetings, Kitsune Nee-chan
