Chapter 4: Tell Me.

The next morning, I woke up on the cold wooden floor. I slowly lifted my head to look around, yawning and stretching simultaneously. How did I get on the floor? I glanced at my bed for any clues, but I just settled on thinking that I fell off. I pushed myself up off the floor and swayed from side to side from being a little dizzy.

I had to drag my feet to get to the bathroom so that I could splash cold water on my face. After I was fully awake, I noticed my phone had a green light blinking, which indicates that I had a text message. I picked it up and read it, everything that happened yesterday rushed back to me like a wave of realization. It was from Pipy.

Pipy: Good morning! Don't forget to come over my house today... You wanted to talk to me and I'm now willing to tell you everything...

Me: Will Res be there?

Pipy: No I wanted it to be just me and you... I'll make cookies ;)

Me: OK! :)

I locked my phone and ran down the stairs, and of course I slammed into a rock hard chest. I started   falling and I braced myself for impact, a strong hand took a hold of my arm and pulled me back up. I sighed in relief and looked into Joshy's crystal blue eyes. He gave me a genuinely caring smile and once I had regained my balance he let me go. "Good morning, Steff," he said giving me a hug.

I love when Joshy's nice. He's the best brother ever. "Good morning," I replied and walked passed him into the kitchen, as I fished for my favorite cereal, Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

"How did you sleep? I saw you on the floor this morning, but I didn't want to wake you," he asked, sitting on the couch in front of our small television.

"It was really good, actually, thanks for asking," I chimed finding my cereal and pouring some into a bowl. I poured milk on top and put everything where it belonged. I took a spoon full of cereal and began devouring my breakfast. "I'm going to Pipy's today. alright?" I informed him. He gave me a nod.

"Be safe," he said, "I'm going to the gym, then I'm going skateboarding with my friends at Regional Park."

"Cool," I quickly took my last bite and ran back up the stairs into my room. I walked into my closet and picked out a tight black tank top and grey jeans. I brushed my tangled dark brown hair and changed into my selection of clothes. Time to go to Pipy's.

I walked outside, the breeze slightly made my hair whip around me as I made my way down the street to Pipy's house. We live in the same neighborhood, her house is two houses across from mine. I crossed the street without looking both ways and I heard a car coming toward me at full speed. I looked up to see the red Nissan hurdling toward me not even trying to stop. I froze. I don't know why I did, but I did. I felt like my feet were too heavy to be lifted. Suddenly I was in the grass, someone on top of me as I heard a loud horn blaring close by. "That was close," a husky voice commented.

I looked up in surprise to see those familiar yellow eyes and dark brown hair. "Oh my gosh! It's you!" I said in shock. "You're from my Anatomy class. What are you doing here?" I asked.

He grabbed my arms gently and hoisted me back up. He picked a grass out of my hair and chuckled. "I'm saving your life, clumsy. Plus, I live here. I was taking a nice relaxing walk when I saw that car and noticed you were gonna get hit," He stated with a shrug. He gave me a smile and examined me, I think checking if I was hurt, then just walked away. "I'll see around."

I shook off the shock and admiration and walked up to Pipy's front door and knokcing. She threw the door open, almost hitting me with it. Suddenly, I was being pulled in and dragged to her small office like room. She locked the door behind her. She started laughing uncontrollably. I furrowed my eyebrows together in confusion. "Are you..." She laughed even harder cutting me off.

She grabbed a can of soda from the corner of her desk and chugged it down. Yup, suspicion confirmed. She is on a super sugar rush. I jumped onto her red beanbag, making myself comfortable. Pipy skipped to her intricately designed bed, which was beautifully made if I may add, almost tripping on her own feet on her way there. She laid on it, her face turned up toward the ceiling.

"What do you want to do first?" she asked with miny spastic giggles. I glared at her.

"I'm here to talk, girly," I stated. She sat up and hiccuped.

"Oh, I knew dat!" Pipy scratched her head, "What do you want to talk about?"

"What is with you and Res? You guys are bipolar. One moment you guys are buddy-buddy then you're lashing at each other's throats and then randomly kissing during lunch. On that note, tell me how did you guys meet?" I asked quickly.

She buzzed her lips in a way to say that I already knew, "In class." She fidgeted on the bed and played with her hands.

Pippy you are too obvious. "Tell me the truth... Where did you meet him, the first time you saw him?" I urged on.

And the story began:

I was walking to the park on a past Saturday, the wind was slightly blowing as leaves were knocked off of the trees. I was going to the park to do a project about kids and dangerous activities in playgrounds; do more kids get injured on seasaws, swings, monkeybars, slides, or tunnels. When I got there, the park was overwhelmingly full of kids; they were laughing, screaming, and some were even crying. I sat down on the bench, took out my notebook and observed the children. I payed close attention to clumsy kids, because they were the ones that would most likely get hurt on the playground.

A few hours later, I had calculated my results; four kids fell off of the seasaw, one jumped off of the swings and scraped his knee, one cried about blisters and another fell off of the monkeybars, none complained about the slides, and one fell off of the tunnel when he tried to climb over it rather than through it. I concluded that the seasaw was the most prone to accidents.

I gathered my things and began to walk out of the park, but I was distracted when I saw an attractive guy, my age, walk through the gates into the park. He walked right passed me and headed toward the monkey bars. I stood there pathetically staring, regarding, and absolutely gawking at him. I was in my own world at that point. "Excuse me?" I heard someone say next to my ear. "You're going to catch a fly if you leave your mouth open like that, you know?" the same gentle voice chuckled.

I shook my head trying to shake off teh stupid and I noticed the guy talking to me was the guy I was staring at a few minutes ago. I quickly closed my mouth shut and swallowed hard. "Are you alright? You look like you're about to faint," he pointed out.

I was at a loss for words. "Um..." that was the only pathetic 'word' I could mutter.

He laughed and ran his hand through his black hair. "Can I buy you an ice cream?" he offered. I nodded. He grabbed my wrist and pulled me toward the ice cream vendor. "What's your favorite flavor?" he asked.

"Um... ice cream, I mean, waffle cone, um..." I shook my head and blushed at my pathetic attempt to answer his simple question.

He smiled at me showing me his white teeth and indicating small dimples. "You look like a strawberry lover to me," he suggested.

After he ordered the ice cream and payed, we sat at a bench and ate our ice cream together. The birds seemed to chirp louder, the trees seemed to sway more, and the kids seemed to sound like a distant memory to me. "You are a beautiful girl, what may I have the pleasure of calling you?" he asked, peering at me from the corner of his eyes. Our eyes met for the first time, his hazel eyes sparkling in the reflection of the afternoon sun and I swear my heart stopped for a split second.

"My name is Pinnelope," I said, in a daze from looking at his eyes. "You have gorgeous eyes," I covered my mouth quickly with my free hand.

He took away my hand from my mouth and smiled, "I'm Res."

I blinked pathetically at him. "So.. W-what are you doing at the park?" I asked, curiously.

He had finished his chocolate ice cream, already. He ate fast. "I'm watching my little sister, Serena." Serena is such a beautiful name. Suddenly, a very small girl with long blonde hair ran up to Res and jumped onto his lap. Cute. "Serena, this is Pinnelope, a girl I bought ice cream for," he told her. I waved.

"Don't be shy around Res, he might look macho, but he has a soft spot for being sensitive. You're really pretty," she said happily. She leaned into my ear, "I can tell you really like my brother and he really likes you and it makes me happy to know you guys found each other," she whispered and leaned back. That took me by surprise.

"Ready to go home, kiddo?" Res asked Serena. Serena looked over at me and shook her head.

"Can we walk Pinnelope home?" she suggested, batting her eyes innocently.

Res chuckled. "Ok." He turned to face me and offered his hand for me to take. I debated whether to or not, but I decided to go with it and I took his hand. "Let's go." Then we walked away from the park together. I held hands with Res and Serena was sitting on Res's shoulder as we marked the first time we formally met face to face.

A smirk slowly slipped onto my face. "Love at first sight?" I teased, but it came out more like a question.

Pipy began blushing like mad, her cheeks flushing red. "Uh..."

I laughed. "I'm guessing that's why you guys acted so bi-polar. It was because you loved him and didn't know how to tell him, correct?"

She shrugged, looking down at the floor, "Kind of..." I tilted my head to the side in question. She sighed. I have to tell you a secret, but you cannot tell anyone... at all." I nodded indicating that she should proceed, so she did. "I'm... We... Me and Res are..." she shook her head in frustration. 'I can't say it' she mouthed.

"You can tell me, please," I insisted.

I heard her window fly open and Res stepped into her room. Pipy looked at him in surprise. "We're werewolves," he muttered with the most convincingly serious face. I just stared at him as he stood there keeping my eyes in an intense trance with his stern hazel eyes.

I swallowed back a lump. "You're not joking," I muttered. They both nodded. I looked from Res to Pipy then settled my eyes on Pipy. I looked at her light green eyes, her long, wavy hair. her petite frame, and her long eyelashes. How can she be a werewolf? A horrible canine monster that eats people and kills people, too. My glance fell upon Res and I backed up against the wall, horror distorting my facial features. "D-do you guys eat people?!" I shouted.

They both covered their ears and winced. "Of course not! That's totally gross! We eat people food or deer when were wolves," Pipy informed. Oh, now I feel stupid.

"Are you guys ugly beasts that change under the full moon?" I asked, calming down a little.

Res laughed knocking himself to the floor. Pipy giggled, "Nope. Werewolves can change whenever they want. We get stronger and we can smell our mates on full moons," she explained.

I nodded. "Wait?! Mates?! As in like lovers?! Are you two mates?!" I asked in realization.

They nodded. Oh my! This was a lot of information to take in. Res sat down on the bed next to Pipy. I looked between them. "What do you look like?" I asked.

"Want to see?" Res stood up, but before anything happened Pipy placed a hand on his chest.

"Don't"

"Why not?" he asked, confused.

"Because then you'll be here naked, duh!" she rolled her eyes.

'Oh" he mouthed and sat back down. He shrygged at me.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. All our heads whipped to the door. "Come in!" Pipy shouted. Res quickly dove under the bed.

The door revealed that it was none other than the guy from my anatomy class. The one with the yellow eyes. I couldn't seem to look away from his eyes, he held eye contact with me, but turned toward Pipy. "Hey, Pinnelope," he greeted casually. Res crawled out from under the bed and sighed in relief. "Res," he nodded his head. Res nodded in return.

"What's up?" Pipy asked.

"I wanted to know..." he started, but stopped to look at me.

"Know what?" she urged on.

He turned back to Pipy. "When are we having our next meeting?" he asked.

"Next monday," she stated. "Is that all?" she smirked.

He walked up to me and stared down at me as I shifted on the bean bag. "We met like three times?" he laughed. I nodded. "And I didn't catch your name?" I nodded again with a blush. "What perhaps may I call thee?"

"Steff," I whispered.

He leaned a little closer. "I didn't quite catch that?" he teased.

"I'm ... Steff," I repeated a little louder.

"It's a pleasure to be of your acquaintance," he smiled. He offered his hand to me his yellow eyes flashing. "Trevor."
