Chapter 9?
Pain spread throughout my face. I groaned, sitting up. I rubbed my bruised cheek, and glanced around. I was in a metal room, sitting on the cold metal floor. Aria and Jacob were nowhere to be seen. In fact, it seemed to me that I was completely alone. I stood up, looking around. The room seemed to be completely empty. The walls were smooth and reflective, and the roof was made of the same material. There was no sign of the green liquid that I had dropped through, although I had heard shifting of metal when I fell through. I guessed that the rooof had closed over me when I fell through.
"Hello?" I asked hesitantly.
No one answered. I walked around the room, checking for anything I had to do. All I noticed were lines in the walls, like the walls were separated every three feet. I looked around one more time, and I started to panic when I knew there wasn't anything I could do.
"Hello? Anyone there? Help! Why did you take me here?!" I yelled, a little desperate.
Silence. I banged on the wall, checked the roof to see if there was any escape, but couldn't find anything. Did Aria and Jacob really just leave me here? Then, there was crackling, as if a radio was sounding. When it spoke, it was Jacob's voice.
"We leave you for a few minutes and you're already trying to find a way to break out," Jacob said, chuckling. "Typical."
"You just left me here!" I accused. "With nothing. What was I supposed to do?"
"Ah, I just wanted you to sweat a little," Jacob said, amusement clear in his voice.
"You jerk," I muttered.
"Ow!" Jacob exclaimed suddenly, and there was a crashing sound. Then, a new person came on the radio. It was Aria.
"I'm gonna throw you in there with him," Aria warned.
"Like you could," Jacob said, groaning.
"You wanna bet?" Aria challenged, an edge in her voice.
"Heck yeah I do," Jacob said, a little less confident, but still arrogantly nonetheless.
A few minutes later, the roof opened and there Jacob fell. He groaned, sitting up. He swept his short brown hair out of his face, annoyance clear in his black eyes. He sat up, sighing. He turned to me. Still sitting down, he gave me a look that was a mix of amusement and exasperation.
"Fine, you win," Jacob said, sighing again. "But only because I went easy. Now let me outta here, will you? Lucas isn't supposed to have anyone in here."
"Nope, you explain what's going on then I'll let you out," Aria said smugly, and Jacob scowled.
"Fine," Jacob said.
"You'll be using the ladder to get up too," Aria added. "I'm not letting you use the elevator. It'll be good exercise."
"Aw come on," Jacob muttered. "Alright Lucas welcome to your room."
"What do you mean?" I said, totally confused.
Jacob nodded. "This is where you'll be spending your next four weeks."
