Had I never stepped
into that morning
on my way to places
where I was born

Perhaps if someone
had given warning
I'd have never
met that storm

For subtle is the pattern
that seems a chance indeed
The one that brings me to you
and you again to me

We are blind to the random
and wanderers in the dark
But if we perhaps could see
with one momentary spark

There a bridge behind us
and a path ahead as well
would appear within the mind
for those broke free of the spell

Yet I never saw it coming
nor in that time could guess
that life was meant to take a turn
and face me with my greatest test

For out of darkness looming
you walked into my view
and for one surreal moment
challenged all I knew
