The flight home was some of the worst hours of San's life. The pilot tried to keep the flight as smooth as possible, but as soon as the altitude change hit Wooyoung it set off his symptoms again.
The nurses on the flight kept a bucket nearby for when the puking started and he lost all his color. He also coughed almost consistently, which made him go through oxygen a lot faster than they had expected.
Thankfully the doctor had ordered extra just in case.
Yeosang clung to San the entire time as they stayed at the back of the plane, trying to keep out of the way.
The screaming started about halfway over the Pacific.
"Please! Make it stop!" Wooyoung called out, tears pouring from his eyes as he rolled over to throw up again. "It burns..."
San pulled Yeosang's head into his chest and looked away as the nurses had to hold Wooyoung down to keep him from ripping the iv and other chords out of his arms.
"We know it hurts but you need to try and stay calm." On of them said.
Roger was positioned by his head and trying to whisper words of comfort into his ear.
"I want to go home." The younger whimpered.
"We are on our way there. Just keep fighting." Roger glanced over at San, worry covering his face.
"Lila is waiting for you, Youngie." San said, raising his voice a little so the other could hear."
He heard Wooyoung whimper as he started to calm down a little.
"That's it. Take some deep breaths." One of the nurses said, looking at one of the monitors. "You're oxygen is low so lets try and get some back into your system. Deep breaths."
Things were relatively quiet for the next several hours.
They were about to land on a private runway in L.A. when the screaming started again.
"Make it stop! Please make it stop!"
Several of the machines started to beep, drowning out the sound of the captain asking them to fasten their seatbelts.
"Hold him down!"
"He needs to stay calm."
The beeping got faster.
Wooyoung let out a loud groan as he thrashed on the bed.
"He can't take much more of this! His heart is beating too fast."
"We can't sedate him with his nausea."
"We need to do something!"
Wooyoung convulsed on the bed as the machines got louder.
"Ok, sedate him! His heart is going to fast, it could give out!"
Yeosang squeezed San even harder as they listened to the nurses. Snag himself closed his eyes and barely registered the jet touching down on the runway as the nurses continued to shout over Wooyoung's screams of pain.
Then there was silence.

Lila stared at her phone as she used it to try and anchor her shaking hands. That feeling in the pit of her stomach had returned and she felt like she was going to be sick.
Nate sat next to her and was rubbing the back of her neck in a soothing manor while watching something on the tv.
He had been such a big help the past couple of days, Lila didn't know where she would be without him...
"Can I get your anything?" He asked, squeezing here neck a little to get her attention. "You haven't eaten all day."
"I'm not hungry." Lila groaned and placed a hand over her stomach.
The thought of food had her running to the bathroom. All her fear and worried finally took it's toll and she emptied the pitiful contents of her stomach into the toilet.
"Ok, no food." Nate murmured as he came to kneel next to her and hold her hair back. "It's going to be ok."
Lila groaned as she sat back a little. "I'm sorry..."
"You don't need to apologize. I'm just glad I've been here to help you." He said, smiling as he rubbed the back of her head.
A knock came from the front door and Nate sighed before getting up.
Seonghwa's voice echoed down the hall and Lila pushed herself up on shaky legs now that her nausea had passed.
"I have things handled, you really didn't need to stop by again." Nate said.
"You're not the only one concerned about her." Seonghwa snapped, then he gasped when he saw Lila hobbling down the hall. "What happened?"
"I'm ok." Lila groaned, holding up a hand, but not refusing Seonghwa's help when he wrapped an arm around her waist. "I was just a little..."
"You're skin is all clammy, come on, let's get you into bed."
"No, they could call any time now." Lila said, giving Seonghwa a pleading look.
He sighed and led her over to the couch. "You should be resting."
"I will. I just want to be ready to go." She said, turning her head into Seonghwa's chest. Then she hummed a little when he started to rub her back.
"You can go, I've got things from here." The older said, turning to Nate.
"I'm not going anywhere."
Lila looked up and smiled. "Nate it's ok. You haven't slept in your own bed for a few nights now. You need to rest."
"But..." He stepped forward and reached for her, then dropped his hands quickly.
"Really Nate, you look tired, please go get some rest. For me."
His face fell a little but he nodded. "Call me if you need anything?"
"Of course. Thank you again."
As soon as the door closed, Seonghwa relaxed beneath her. "Finally. You realize how much of a creep that guy is, right?"
Lila flinched and didn't look at Seonghwa. Part of her knew he was a little much sometimes, but he really had been a big help the past couple of days.
"I know you can't tell him who you are dating, but be careful there." He whispered into her hair.
"I will. He's just a friend."
Seonghwa sighed. "I know he is to you, but it's very obvious that that's not what he wants. He-"
Lila's phone started to ring and Lila fell out of Seonghwa's lap trying to grab it. "San?"
"Li..." His voice was strained and Lila's heart plummeted.
Tears came immediately and she covered her mouth. "What happened?" Seonghwa's hands gripped her shoulders and squeezed.
San took a deep shuddering breath. "I'm sorry. It was a rough flight. But he made it through, barely. They are taking him to the hospital now, how soon can you get there? He needs you."
"I'm on my way." Lila pushed herself off the ground and started running through the condo to get keys and shoes.
"Ask for Roger at the nurses station. I'll see you soon."
He hung up and Lila started hopping around while trying to slip her shoe on. When she almost fell over, Seonghwa came to her and put her shoe on for her. "You need to calm down. You were just sick, your body isn't going to be able to handle this."
"San said he needs me. I have to get there as soon as possible." Lila said, not caring about herself right now.
"Lila." Seonghwa snapped, making her freeze. "Thank you. Now go get your things and I will go with you to the hospital."
She nodded slowly and took a deep breath. He was right. Now was not the time to act crazy...
And yet she couldn't stop her legs from bouncing up and down during the car ride to the hospital. Especially with how bad traffic was. Seonghwa seemed anxious as well because he kept tapping the steering wheel.
True to her word, Lila sent Nate a text letting him know that she was on the way to the hospital and that she would keep him updated if anything came up.
When Seonghwa was finally able to park, he grabbed her hand to keep her from running forward and into a group of children, then held onto her as they walked into the main lobby.
Her heart sank when she saw it was flooded with paparazzi all trying to talk to the nurses. Somehow they had found out about Wooyoung's emergency flight home... And they were even talking to some of the other people in the waiting room.
Then she noticed the security guards posted at all the doors that led deeper into the hospital... There was no way she was going to get past them.
But San had told her to ask for Roger, so maybe they had a way.
She made a beeline for the service desk and the woman sitting behind it looked up with a smile. "How may I help you?"
"I was told to ask for Roger please?" Lila bit her lip, hoping the woman would know what he meant.
Her eyes flashed in understanding and she pulled out two badges, handing one to each Lila and Seonghwa. "Go through those doors honey." She pointed at a set of doors that were sunken in the wall, hiding them from most of the lobby. "Just hold onto your badge in case you get stopped by anyone." She gave them a kind smile and turned to keep an eye on the people with cameras while Seonghwa held the door open for Lila.
Once they were through, they followed the narrow, windowless hall down into another waiting room. It was obvious that this was a VIP area because the furniture, drink selection, and décor was all much nicer.
"Lila!"
They turned to see San and Yeosang standing in the corner. The younger broke away and ran for Lila.
"Sannie..." She sobbed. They collided hard enough to knock the air out of each other, but neither on cared as they sank to their knees, hugging each other like they never intended to let go again. "I missed you so much." Lila said through her hiccups.
"I missed you too Lila-Lou." San whispered into her neck.
She laughed, "I hate it when you call me that."
"I know." He said with a smile as they broke apart. Concern flashed across his eyes. "Are you ready to see him? It's... It's not a pleasant sight."
Lila glanced up at where Seonghwa was hugging Yeosang, who looked pale and lifeless. Her stomach flipped, but she nodded.
A man walked up to them, his eyes flicking between San and Lila. "Is this her?"
San wrapped an arm protectively around her shoulders. "Yes, Rog, this is Lila. And our friend Seonghwa is over there. They can both be trusted, I promise."
The man sighed and nodded. "It's a pleasure to meet you Lila. I'm Wooyoung's manager. I'm sorry we have to meet under these circumstances."
"M-Manager?!" Lila said, glancing at San with wide eyes.
Her friend let out a nervous laugh and cringed. "Youngie talks in his sleep..."
Lila blushed and looked down quickly in embarrassment, but her heart warmed at the thought of Wooyoung thinking about her, even at a time like this.
"Don't worry, I'm not overly upset... I'm actually more impressed that he was able to hide it for as long as he did. The magazine was a slip up, but even then there was no way to say he was dating anyone. Because of that, you've already earned... Most... of my trust." Roger said with a sly smile. "Come on, his room is this way. Those badges are yours to keep, so you can come and go as you please as long as he's here. We just ask that you're careful when going in and out of that door." He said, glancing first at Lila, then at Seonghwa.
"Of course." Seonghwa said, wrapping an arm around Yeosang's waist.
Roger nodded in approval and led them down the hallway off to their right.
He paused outside of door 1117 and stepped aside.
Lila hesitated for a second, trying to mentally prepare herself for what she was about to see.
She needed to stay strong.
San took her hand and nodded slowly before leading her inside.
The first thing she heard was several machines beeping and the sound of an oxygen tank pumping.
Then she saw the end of the hospital bed.
Time froze.
More of the bed appeared, along with pale, lifeless hands.
Wooyoung's torso. His chest rose and fell slowly.
Several chords stuck in each of his arms leading behind his bed.
Wooyoung.
Lila's legs shook and she held onto San with her other arm for support as she took in the love of her life.
He was white, making the red blotches on his skin stand out even more. There were also several scratch marks along his arms and neck.
An oxygen mask covered his nose and mouth.
He looked so thin with his hallowed cheeks and limp arms...
Forcing down her tears and biting her lip to keep it from trembling, Lila walked over to the side of the bed and pulled up a chair. Keeping her movements slow and as precise as she could, she reached forward and took his hand in both of hers.
Everything stopped for her at that contact. She couldn't hear the machines, she couldn't see or sense the others in the room.
All she saw and felt was Wooyoung.
They were together again.
Even when he was like this, holding his hand still set her soul on fire.
"Wooyoung?" She asked, leaning forward to caress the small part of his cheek she could touch with her hand. "Baby I'm here. I'm here. Everything's going to be ok."
