IV. Shaggy Dog aka Scott McCall

this was a lot of fun to write!

I ran out to the field before anyone else so I could talk to the coach.  "Coach!" I call out and he turns around.

"What!" he yelled before looking at me.

"I'm the new guy, was wondering if I could try out on the team?" I asked him and he looked me up and down, trying to see if I could do it.

"You ever played before?" Coach asked and I shrugged.

"Once a couple years ago, the last couple of my old cities didn't offer Lacrosse," I explained to him.

"Played other sports?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.

"Played varsity at every school I've been to," I told him and he nodded before nodding to the field.

"Do good at today's practice and you're on the team," he says and I smile before jogging to the team that just came out.  "Hey kid!"  I turn around to look at him and he throws me something red.  I look down and see an old jersey.  "Jackson said you were coming," He said, and I realize he was always going to let me on the team and was just giving me a hard time.  I smile and raise it in the air in a sort of cheers gesture.  I walk to the team and stand next to Jackson.

"Thanks for talking to him," I said and he gave me an asshole look.

"You seem like a good player, that's it," Jackson said before giving a smirk that screamed douche and suddenly I wasn't feeling so thankful.

I turn away from him and see the boy I liked, he was with his friend.  I smirk down at the ground with a new idea.  I saw Allison and Lydia in the stands and smiled at my twin.  She looked at me and I smirked making her lean forward in interest.  I face the boy I was into and grabbed the bottom of my shirt, I slowly lift it over my head, letting my six pack go on show and my muscles naturally flex as they are put to work.

I hear the voice of my new interest's friend, "Scott, Scott, are you paying attention?  No you're oggling the new boy of course."  With my face blocked I smile, proud of myself and I can hear my sister and Lydia laughing.  I finally pull the shirt over my head and turn to Allison, exposing my body to Scott with my delay to put a new shirt on.

"Little sister!"  I call to her and she looks to me and I raise the shirt, she rolls her eyes and opens her hands.  I throw it to her and she catches it.  I turn around, my jersey in hand and once again face who I now know to be Scott.  I slip it over my head and smile when I hear his friend speak again.

"Stop staring!" He said and I heard flesh hit flesh lightly.  I get my shirt past my head and slide it down the rest of my body before my eyes meet Scott's whose jaw is dropped.

I smile at him and walk up to him holding my hand out, "Hey, I'm David."

He nervously takes my hand and shakes it, "S-s-scott, Scott McCall."

"It's really great to meet you Scott.  Who's your friend?"  I asked and looked at his buzzcutted friend.  Scott was looking at me with a slack jaw, that made me silently proud and happy that I stopped myself from having the same reaction.

"Well, I am Stiles and this is as graceful as he gets," Stiles said and I smiled at him, liking the funny boy.

I shift my gaze back to Scott who hadn't seemed to register his friends words, "Somehow I doubt that."  I look back at the guys lining up and know I should join them.  "Once again, it was great meeting you both.  I hope to see you again Scott."

I go to the line up and see coach call over Scott before Scott goes to goal.  I meet Scott's eyes and smile and he smiles back before the whistle is blown and it hurts his newly turned ears causing him to cringe.  The ball soars to the in pain Scott who had only just looked up only to be nailed in the face.

I hid my growl that rumbled in my chest and looked down in confusion.  Why did I feel protective over him?  The team laughs and I roll my eyes, I would say something but they didn't know me.  With my enhanced sight I see Scott blushing from embarresment and smiled at him.  The whistle blows and another ball is thrown but this time Scott catches it.  He moves incredibaly fast, supernaturally fast and I smile wide.  "Go Scott," I say under my breathe knowing he could hear it and I was right when I saw him smile.  All the players start to throw and Scott keeps catching.  Finally Jackson steps up, practically strangling the lacrosse stick with his gloves.

"Oh god," I hear Scott whisper but I have confidence in him.

"Come on Scott..." I trail off and I see him glance at me and I smile nodding.  Coach throws the ball in the air and Jackson catches it, spinning around to launch the ball.  Once again Scott moves and catches the ball.

Stiles lets out a holler, jumping up on the bench cheering about how Scott was his friend.  Lydia stands and gives a whoop as well, causing Jackson to shoot her a look.  Scott grins and twirls the stick sending the ball into the net of the coach's.  "Hey I hope you aren't just yet, it's my turn," I say stepping up and meeting Scott's eyes.  He grins and gets in position.  "You better not go easy on me," I mutter under my breathe and his gaze steels causing me to smile.

Coach throws the ball and with speed to match Scott's I lunge, catch it and throw it faster than anyone else had.  The ball shoots faster than Scott can catch and I ended up being the only one to beat Scott while he was focused.

After practice I go to Scott and Stiles who stood together and smiled at them both before focusing on Scott.  "You were really good out there," I told him and he smiled.

"So were you," He said and I shrugged.

"Have to be to keep up with your moves," I teased, playfully shoving his shoulder before Allison runs over and grabs my arm.

"Hey David who are they?" She asked, leaning against me and I wrap my arm around her.

"Scott and Stiles, they're on the team.  Scott was the one being awesome," I said, referring to him beating Jackson.

"What besides you?" Scott was quick to shoot back and I was surprised with that surprisingly smooth comeback.

"Hey I was invited to go to a party, would you like to go with me?" I asked him and his eyes widened.  I smile at the return of the boy from earlier who couldn't talk right to me.

"With me?  A-ar-are you sure?" He asked and I look him up and down before smiling at him.

"Couldn't imagine going with anyone else," I say, laying the charm on thick and it seems to work because he smiled and nods.

"I would love to.  I mean, I would love to go with you.  To the party I mean," He said, rambling nervously and I smile wide at him while Stiles wraps his arms around him and pulls his away.

"He'll see you at the party," He calls to me as he drags his friend away.

"I'll pick you up 30 minutes before the party!"

New Orleans

Freya and Hope sat together trying to find Kit when Hope got an overwhelming sense of joy wash through her causing her to gasp at the same time that Klaus did.  Both of them smiled, with joy that didn't seem to be their own and Freya looked at them confused.

"What just happened?" She asked them and they both shook their heads in confusion.

"It was like an overwhelming sense of joy, but it wasn't ours," Klaus explained, assuming his daughter felt the same thing he did by their shared reactions.

"It was probably Kit, it's possible the reason you felt his power last night is that he was calling out.  It was a full moon and if he shifted the call of his blood may have caused him to tap into his witch powers while transformed to try and call you near, making a bond," Freya explained and they nodded their heads though Klaus was confused.

"Why wouldn't he just come to New Orleans?" He asked and Freya shrugged.

"There could have been something not letting him leave the area, he could have been to far away to get here in a night or there might have been something there that made him want to stay, even more than he wanted to follow the call of his blood," She told them and they looked at each other.

"I'm gonna hope, for who ever's sake, it's the second option," Klaus said, not wanting to make his son unhappy by taking him away from something he cared about but not willing to leave him behind and also with the full intent to kill anyone who would ever trap or cause harm to his little boy.  It was hard for Klaus to imagine Kit as anything other than a child, even though he knew he would be a teen by now like Hope, but for Klaus, he wasn't sure if he could ever imagine Kit as anything more than his little boy, someone he needed to always protect and care for.  Klaus loved both his children but when they were babies, while Hope clung to both parents though favored Hayley due to spending more time with her and also thought of Jackson as a parental figure, Kit was clingy to Klaus.  He would wail if any man but Kol, Elijah or Klaus held him and even then it was sometimes iffy with Kol and Elijah, he was a true daddy's boy.

And Klaus fully planned on bringing him home, back where he belonged.  With him.
