III. Lydia Martin
Allison and I sat outside waiting for the principle, Allison's phone rang and I knew it would be our parents. I smile as she answers it, "Mom, three calls on my first day is a little overdoing it."
"She gave me five, should I be insulted?" I ask with a grin and Allison smiles at me.
"Just making sure you're there okay and you've got everything you need," Mom said and Allison begins to dig through her bag, checking it.
"Everything except a pen. Oh my god, I didn't actually forget a pen," She stressed and I chuckled, I reached into my pocket and pulled out a pen holding it up and showing it to her.
"That's why I brought you one," I told her and she grinned hugging me.
"Does your brother have everything?" I heard mom ask and I waited till Allison asked me for her before searching, only to come up with the same realization that Allison did.
"I didn't," I quietly whisper to myself and Allison heard, her eyebrows furrowed with worry.
"What's wrong?" She asked.
"I forgot a pen for myself," I said in defeat, hanging my head while my sister and mom laugh.
"Don't worry. I'm sure you can borrow one from another student," Mom's voice was suddenly louder and I realized Allison had put her on speakerphone.
I spotted the principal on his way over so I said, "Okay, well we gotta go."
At the same time me and my twin said, "Love you." Allison hung up the phone and we both stood up, I shook hands with the Principal first before Allison did so.
"Sorry to keep you waiting," the principal said and I gave him a charming smile, amping up my kindness.
"It's no trouble," I told him and he smiled back at me.
"So you were saying San Francisco isn't where you grew up?" He asked us, guiding us across the quad and towards the school.
"No but we stayed for more than a year which is unusual in our family," Allison said and we both smiled at the man, trying not make an enemy out of him.
"We kind of bounce around a lot because of our Dad's work, but we're really excited to be here, it seems like a lovely place," I said and he smiled proudly, his chest puffing out. We enter the school and he leads us to our first class.
"Well, hopefully, Beacon Hills is your last stop for a while," He says before opening the door to our classroom. "Class, these are our new students, David and Allison Argent. Please do your best to make them feel welcome."
I spot the boy from earlier and so does Allison because she moves to the seat beside the empty one behind him, she knew we would always sit together and even if I wanted to move way, it was the only empty spot. I sucked in a breathe and moved to sit behind the cute boy. After taking my seat and putting down my books, I look up to see him turn to me with a pen in his hand.
I grin widely at him, he must have heard my conversation outside and judging by the smell of blood on him he was newly turned and didn't know what was going on. "Thanks," I tell him quietly with a large smile that he returns. He nods at me before turning back around letting me look at my desk with grin.
"Okay let's begin with Kafka," The teacher says but I kept my focus on the boy in front of me, I could however feel the gaze of my sister and when I glanced at her she was giving me a grin, probably about the exchange between the boy and I.
After class I was leaning against Allison's locker as she put away her stuff and got news things. We were joking around and when she closed her locker I looked in the direction we would be heading to, only to see the boy from earlier. Our eyes meet and I smile at him, waving which he returns and my grin widens. Suddenly the strawberry blonde from earlier swoops in front of us.
She looks at Allison, "That jacket is absolutely killer. Where did you get it?"
"My mom was a buyer for a boutique back in San Francisco," Allison said with a kind smile, and I could tell she was put off by the confident girl. I slipped my hand in her's, squeezing to try and give her comfort which she returned.
"And you are gay," The girl said, her eyes moving to me and I choked on my own spit.
"Excuse me?" He asked and Allison helped him straighten back up.
"You are gay aren't you?" She asked, one hip popped out.
I nodded catching my breath before smiling at her, "I've just never been asked so abrubtly without even saying anything. I like you."
She smiled at him, "And you two are my new best friends."
"May I know my best friend's name?" I asked with a charming smirk that she returned.
"Lydia Martin, and what's your name?" She asked them both and we smiled at her.
"I'm David and this is my twin Allison," I told her and she grinned even wider.
"Twins? I love it," She said before her boyfriend came up behind her, well I assume he was her boyfriend based on the assualt he did to her neck.
"Hey wanna go to a party?" Lydia asked, not paying attention to her boyfriend while my twin and I shared a look.
"A party?" Allison asked, her voice unsure.
"Friday night, everyone's going," Lydia's boyfriend said.
"Me and Jackson are going together," Lydia said as a way to introduce her boyfriend and I nodded slowly.
"We can't. It's family night this Friday. Thanks for asking though," I told them and Lydia scrunched her nose.
"You sure? Everyone's going after the scrimmage game," Jackson said, pulling away from Lydia's neck.
"You mean like football?" Allison asked, while I was suddenly very interested.
"Football is a joke at Beacon. The sport here is Lacrosse. We won the state championship the last three years-" Jackson starts before Lydia cuts him off.
"Because of a certain team captain."
"Every season starts with a scrimmage to decide the new first string. You ever watch Lacrosse?" Jackson asked us both, his gaze mostly on me probably wondering if I would be good on the team.
"I've only ever seen his game, but our last couple cities didn't play it so all I remember is that it's played violently," Allison said and I smiled.
"Maybe you should just come see for yourself. We have practice today, your new so coach might let you try out. You don't have to be anywhere right after school, do you?" Jackson asked and I was actually very tempted to go. I missed playing lacrosse because even though I don't really remember the rules, I remember loving it.
"Well, actu-" Allison started, not wanting to be stuck with Lydia without me, since she was still getting to know the girl.
"Perfect. You're coming," Lydia said and I smiled.
"I guess it can't hurt for me to try out," I said and fist bumped who Jackson as we smirk at each other.
