Xerina and Kyle arrived in Nacrene city and went directly to the Pokemon centre to get their Pokémon healed.
Upon entry, they noticed that the centre was filled with people waiting for their Pokémon to be healed.

"What's going on?" Xerina asked.

"There's a wild Pokemon on a rampage out there and it hurt all of our Pokémon." One man exclaimed as he held his swanna close to him.

"That's terrible! What can we do to help?" Xerina walked over to the man.

"You can go after it. But you must be careful! You can find it in the forest." Xerina nodded and ran off with Kyle to the forest.

A girl who had been sleeping woke up to see the two leave. "Hmm..." she thought to herself as she got up and followed them. Her tepig ran beside her.

Xerina casually walked along the forest's path.

"Are we there yet?" Kyle called looking around.

"We're not going anywhere. We're looking for something..." Xerina began to wander off, splitting away from Kyle and the path.

Before she knew it. Xerina was lost.

Kyle looked around. "Xerina? Where did you go?" He called out looking around for her.

Xerina kept looking for the mysterious Pokémon. And then, she found it. A large angry beartic blocked her path. It roared sending ice shards towards her. She ducked to dodge. "What do we do Fang?" Xerina gasped gazing up at the bear Pokémon.

"Pika!" Fang pointed to the beartic's paw which had a splinter in it.

"It's not mad. It's hurt!" Xerina attempts to get close to beartic.

The beartic roared trying to scare her away, but she kept advancing. Once she was close enough, Xerina gently took ahold of the Pokémon's paw and carefully removed the splinter.

Beartic was so greatful that she had done that and gave her a hug. Xerina smiled as it touched one of her empty pokeballs and entered it. Becoming one of her Pokémon.

"Let's get back to Kyle." She looked around and soon realized that she was lost. "Oh no!" Gasped Xerina as she frantically ran around trying to locate Kyle.

Xerina had given up all hope until she saw a figure in the distance. "Kyle!" She exclaimed as she ran towards it. Upon arrival, she hugged the figure and then noticed how large it was. "Kyle?" She backed away and clearly saw that she had just hugged a golurk.

Xerina stumbled back as the pokemkn towered over her. It looked at her and blinked.

She held her breath. Afraid of what to do.

Beartic let itself out of its pokeball and instantly attacked the beartic using a blizzard attack. The golurk was hit and used earthquake. The ground shook with Golurk's power.

The two continued to fight each other until only one stood.

Xerina was surprised that her newly caught Besrtic had just defeated the golurk. Without thought, she tossed a pokeball at the golurk and waited for it to click.

...3...

...Click...

...golurk was caught...

Xerina hugged Beartic and then picked up the pokeball containing Golurk.

"Thank you!" She returned Beartic and turned to see Kyle running towards her.

"Xerina! There you are!" He cried as he neared here. "The Pokémon centre is empty now. And the gym is open, we can go challenge it now!"

Xerina smiled. "Let's go!" Kyle grabbed her arm and dragged her back to the Pokémon centre.

Once Xerina and Kyle's Pokémon were healed, the girl approached the two.

"Excuse me," they looked at the girl. "Are you thinking of challenging Lenora?"

"Yeah... Why?" Kyle looked at her.

"So am I. Can I come with you?"

"Su-" Xerina was cut off by Kyle.

"No!" He crossed his arms.

"Okay." She faintly smiled and walked away.

"Kyle!" Xerina turned to him.

"Let's go." He took her hand and raced to the gym.

The two trainers arrived at the gym and entered.

"Where's the gym?" Kyle complained, leaning against the dragonite skeleton.

Xerina shrugged. "I don't know..." she looked around unable to locate the battle field either.

"Gwah!" Kyle slammed his fist down in frustration. "Where is the gym!" He yells grabbing everyone's attention.

"Kyle," Xerina turned to Kyle. "Shhh."

A woman walked over to them chuckling. "You two wanna challenge me? Well come on" she leads the two to a book case. "Let's do some reading."

Kyle slumped down. "Why? I just want a battle..."

Xerina analysed the case carefully before picking a book which caused the book case to move to reveal a secret passage.

"Wow." The two gasped as the woman walked down the passage.

"Well you two coming?" She called as the two trainers suddenly followed her. The book case closing behind them.

The woman stood on one side of the battlefield with Xerina and Kyle on the other.

"I am Lenora. The normal type gym leader!" She sent out her lilipup. "Let's see if you are worthy of the basic badge!"

The two grinned and sent out Snivy and Oshowatt.

"Ready Xerina?" Kyle looked at Xerina.

"Ready!" Xerina replied as the battle began.
