Its eyelids were heavy, almost as heavy as the metal it was made of.

Its hands were tied, iron chains wrapped around its wrists and around a bulging tree trunk. It was stuck, and it didn't care. Its sensors were dizzy, disoriented. A cable or two must have snapped inside its head. Sir Eden would fix it, after it returned from its mission, if it ever did return.

Its mission... What did it do wrong? How did it get captured? And what would it explain to Sir Eden about its injuries? What did it do?

It could only remember flashes—a dark-haired girl, a crashing plane...and falling and falling into a dark abyss. And now here it was, damaged and captured.

Pain. The feeling flared through its head as a memory emerged. Brown eyes. Soft, warm brown eyes that stared into its very core.

Pictures flooded into its memory disk, depicting colors of autumn and laughter and two beautiful girls and love—

It shook the memory and the fuzzy feeling. It needed to focus—crash the plane, capture their leader, escape. Simple.

Plane. Check. Leader. Almost check. Escape...it needed to escape.

It jingled the chains. It was too weak, too distraught. Its head tipping backwards from frustration, it only realized where it was.

Sand. A plot of the stuff. It sat deep in the yellowish land, its grey pants and black shoes itchy from the grains. It looked around. Seashells. Coconuts...Coconuts?

It tilted its head back again and noticed the bulging green coconuts above. Perhaps it could shake the tree with its chains—

What was that? Its ears twitched. Footsteps. Sprinting footsteps.

A dark figure stormed through the forest, dust lingering behind. Long hair melting into the dark and flicking side to side as the figure surveyed the area, the person came into vision.

A girl? It remembered...it could still see the warmth in her eyes, and it remembered them smoldering out when it tried to kill her.

The girl didn't say a word, but her eyes continued smoking.

It grinned, cocking his head slightly. The soft, tender feeling erupted inside it again; and it felt the urge to speak to her.

Her eyes kept flickering—dashing right and left then left and right.

Its eyes traveled her body. She was small, but the way she stood hinted of strength and confidence. Perhaps it could use her. Leaning forward, mouth open to try to speak, the chains around its wrists jingled and—

"Sshh!" She whisper-shouted, her dark eyes locking onto its. "I'm trying to help you."

Interesting. It could definitely use her. It bit its bottom lip and gasped out, "How?"

How indeed was it suddenly able to talk to smoothly? Perhaps it simply never tried, never needed to.

"W-well..."

"You don't have a plan, do you?" The words slipped easily off its tongue, and it felt its lips pull upwards in amusement. She was certainly very interesting.

The girl, clearly flustered, rubbed the tips of her fingers with her palm. It smiled.

"I have a knife hidden on my back. Perhaps you could use that to untie me?"

In an instant, she crouched behind its back. "Wow, how has it been hiding there the whole time? Isn't that uncomfortable? Keeping a knife strapped to your back?"

"Why are you helping me?" It interrupted, curiosity peaked.

It could feel her feverish breath on the nape of its cold neck as she answered, "Because I feel that...I know that you're not a killer."

Memories. They blinked and faded away in its mind as quickly as a flare. The voice that eerily sounded like the thumping voice against its skull again—I'm human! It squeezed its eyes shut as the word killer rang in his mind. Blood. Empty eyes. Pale skin. Death. It remembered it all; it could see its memories—

Grey. What? What happened? Its memories turned grey.

"...cut your arm off."

"Huh?"

It saw the glimmer of silver behind its shoulder. "I'm afraid to try to cut the chains, or I'll cut your arm off," the girl reiterated.

"Just try to saw the chains off," it answered, still dizzy from the grey.

"They're here!" She cried out, the sound of metal scraping as she quickly tried to saw off the chains of her enemy.

Its ears twitched again, and its eyes saw four bulky figures trudging through the sand, towards them.

"Ahh, the chains aren't coming off!" The girl panicked. It couldn't help but smile, but the amusement quickly faded away as a tall man approached.

"Rena," the man heading the troupe said. "Step away from the monster." The man's eyes could almost send sparks. Even it couldn't do that.

"No, Paul," this girl, Rena, replied. "You can't just kill him."

Kill? He eyed the four figures. They wouldn't stand a chance against it.

"Rena, this monster almost killed you!" This Paul nearly screamed out, balling his fists into rocks.

Monster? It felt slightly offended. It almost killed her? It didn't remember that.

The girl's voice faltered. "I-I think he's human, Paul. I think...I believe he's a survivor."

A survivor... it liked the sound of that, but the other men didn't. They cringed their faces in disgust and animosity.

"Kill it!" The three men behind Paul charged.

Prepared, the Bot ripped his chains open and snatched his knife from the girl behind him. It swung his knife adroitly on the tips of its fingers and kicked.

Before the other men could run away, the tree that once held it captive fell; and a
volley of coconuts rolled down the thin trunk and landed on the three men's fragile heads.

The leader of the group stood still, balls of fist still white—from anger or from humiliation, it wasn't sure; but it didn't waste time to find out.

"Well, I'll be going off now," the Bot said calmly, strapping the knife back onto his back.
Circling his arm around the waist of the girl, the Bot smiled one last time then rocketed to the sky.

Yayy who else wants to rocket into the sky with a handsome robot man? 😜
