By the time the monster came for Charles, seeking vengeance for the woman he'd scorned, Delia was practically a stranger.

So when 'not much' quickly became nothing, Delia found a purpose in searching for the one that stole from her. It was desperate. Irrational. Vampires became her obsession after seeing one drain her father dry, and it was in chasing this dark truth that she crossed a line she'd never come back from. Waking up from one final sleep with red eyes and a thirst for blood, Delia forged a new identity and thus slipped through the cracks.

As years became decades that crept into a new century, Aubrey Evans emerged in Homer, Alaska posing as the niece of one of her distant cousins (a complicated situation, but then what wasn't complicated about Aubrey's existence?) She wasn't expecting much from this tiny town on a list of many, but the elusive Cullen family who arrived not long after she did drew her towards them like a moth to a flame.

After all, they were vampires. Golden-eyed ones just like her.

But one in particular stood out.

The boy who could read minds yet frustratingly couldn't break into hers. Who left Forks and its ghosts behind expecting to retreat away from society nursing a broken heart after things failed between him and his first real girlfriend since he was human.

It should've been simple. Sad Boy met Lonely Girl. Against the odds, they fell in love. It was something in Aubrey's very empty world. But nothing was ever simple when the search for your father's murderer led you into the arms of his killer, and a whole lot of secrets came crawling back out of the grave.
