Chained Promise

"Hahaha..." , happily chatting near the  Oak Tree. Then in such joyful times a promise was put to stone.

"Hey Coal, promise me this", as Lily
said in a gentle voice. "wait what, what do you mean? ", flustered with what she said. Coal is quite akward around other people but at the same time sincere.

Lily on the other hand, is shy and delicate and very soft hearted.

"Hahaha! you never fail to bring a smile in me"as Lily laughed.
" Now then Let's get back to our promise". With sincerity Coal said, "What is it about?"

"We have been classmates and Neighbors from Preschool to Gradeschool", Lily said in sweet tone voice. "I'm sorry Coal but I'm transferring house and going to a different school than you, Lily speaking in an Crying tone.

"I might never see you again!", finally letting the tears out. "shh...It's okay", wiping her tears off Coal said.

Lily continues to speak, "Coal chain this promise to your heart" she said in a serious manner. "after 12 years we will met again once we have our own lives now, the date will be July 17th".

"Promise me that Coal, do you promise me that?". While Coal clinching his fist..."Sure thing anything Lily", with eternal regret Coal said.

"Thank you", Lucy said. "See you tomorrow okay, bye!", she added.
Without know Coal's frustration of his...

They both lived a normal life at least that is what Lily thought.

(12 years later, July 17th, Rainy Day waiting)

"Excuse me Mam are you Ms.Lily,
the one my father talked about", a tall young man called out to her. "Yes" Lily said.

"I'm sorry to tell you this...but Mr Coal died 5 days ago" he said in a sad tone. Lily speechless while tears run down from her cheeks. "He wrote you a letter for you

    Dear Lily,
You have been my close friend since childhood. At the moment you were about to tell me the promise, I was supposed to decline but I could never say no to you that's why I hid my Cancer for this long. Actually, my life span was supposed to be only 5 yrs. but I strive to keep you myself alive so I can still call you from time to time. I am sorry for not keeping the promise. As a way of saying thank you
I give you 1/2 my share of my money and business.
                                          Love,
                                             Coal

Lily while wiping her tears, hugged Coal's son as if he was hugging Coal himself. After that, Lily inherited the business and become a well successful business woman. She has never forgetten that experience and she will never will. That is the real Promise.
