Chapter VIII

             Hope Emily Nightingale

I brainstormed ideas on how to expedite Serafina's release. The Falcone's needed to feel as desperate as we did for her freedom. Then, it occurred to me: perhaps kidnapping one of their own would provoke that level of desperation. I still needed to consider whose disappearance would have the greatest impact.

The first person who came to mind was Nino; he represented logic, while Remo embodied emotion. Kidnapping him would deprive them of their advisor, not to mention he was Remo's closest brother and ally.

Savio might be easier to kidnap than Nino, but dealing with his constant blabbering would be a headache. Plus, his blatant disrespect for women made me strongly consider eliminating him.

As for the youngest brother, Adamo, he was simply too young. Despite being the easiest to capture, he was not like his brothers. He was still innocent and didn't want to harm anyone. His absence during the video call and on the day of the capture further proved this.

In the end, I concluded that Nino was the best option. Despite the challenge, I could simply use my magic to render him unconscious. However, extracting him without his brother's notice proved to be a significant task. I relied on my memory of when I previously visited the Camorra mansion to sketch out a plan.

Making my entry through the front gate, I'd carefully evade the cameras and alarms. Nino's wing, I believed, would be situated to the left. Considering it was nighttime at 3 am, he'd likely be in his room. After waking him up, I'd render him unconscious and then transport him through his room's balcony, conveniently positioned close to the mansion walls, minimizing the distance I'd need to cover.

At midnight, I began preparing to execute my plan. I dressed in black track pants, a black t-shirt, and a black leather jacket, ensuring my twin blades were securely sheathed. I swung the arrow basket across my body and gripped the bow tightly in my hand. Due to a permanent shoulder injury, I couldn't use a gun, so I relied on old-fashioned methods.

I drove towards the Camorra mansion, the silence surrounding it adding to the eerie atmosphere. Exiting my car cautiously, I focused on avoiding all the cameras as I made my way to Nino's wing. Piece of cake. Upon entering his room, I observed the gray walls and red curtains. Approaching his bed, I carefully studied his sleeping figure.

Oh, my God, he's hot!

Despite the circumstances, I couldn't help but notice his attractiveness. His upper body, exposed by the blanket, showcased a canvas of tattoos covering every inch. Shaking my head to snap out of the trance, I swiftly reached out and covered his mouth. Instantly, his eyes flew open, his relaxed muscles tensing up as he appeared surprised to see me.

"What's the matter, you've never been attacked in your sleep?" I leaned in close, whispering into his ear.

"People know what's good for them, so they don't try it."

He swiftly leaped out of bed and reached for the nightstand, only to be stunned when he didn't find the weapon there.

"Looking for this?" I whispered holding out the knife that was there on the nightstand.

As he lunged at me, I swiftly dodged and pressed him against the wall. With his nearly 5-inch height advantage and greater muscularity, I found it challenging to maintain my grip. However, my training at the supernatural camp and consistent top ranking on the leaderboard assured me that I wouldn't be bested by a mere human.

In all this chaos, I just noticed something, and was taken aback. He was completely naked, not even wearing his boxers!

"What the fuck! Put something on!" I commanded, pushing him towards the closet. Reluctantly, he donned his boxers and pants. Despite my efforts, I found it challenging to maintain eye contact with his face and not let my gaze wander lower.

After he was dressed, I recited the incantation that caused him to lose consciousness. Then, I dragged him to the balcony and lowered us both on a wire, carefully making our way towards the walls. It was challenging, maneuvering him over the wall while he remained unconscious, but I eventually succeeded. Once on the other side, I ensured my face was captured on camera, flashing them a wide grin. This way, they would know it was my handiwork and not to underestimate me.

"I'm sorry, but this was the only way I could get Fina out," I whispered, placing him in the passenger seat and securing his seat belt.
