This is Oliver

His mom is a nuclear physicist and his dad is a world class chemist, Oliver is terrible at nearly every form of math under the sun. So he prefers the more artistic walks of life, photography, sculpting, painting, music, sometimes even writing.
Oliver is fairly mild mannered but can be a tad aggressive when he isn't prepared for something or doesn't expect things, he isn't very well versed with change. So when an interdimensional alien clown charges at him, he isn't exactly jazzed about his dad's decision to let her live in his house for an unspecified period of time.

He isn't particularly good at talking to his dad about his relationships at school, and prefers to shut himself off from others, usually because they think he is weird because his mom disappeared when he was about four. Dindet always manages to know exactly what he is feeling whenever he feels it though and even though it really makes him mad at first, he begins to open up to her about how much he misses his mom and how much he wants someone to talk to about it- who isn't his dad.

Oliver grows to care a lot about Dindet, because she helps him understand how he feels in the most basic and obvious of ways, but he knows she hides a lot of herself from him when he asks her about where she came from, why she came here. Secretly, he hopes that she will trust him enough to take him to her home.
Dindet is his best friend, she always knows what to say, or at least do to cheer him up, and she never let's him stay sad for too long. She is his emotional rock and he wants to be that for her- she just won't let him. He tries to get her to talk about things that aren't jokes or questions about earth and humans, but when he brings them up she gets quiet and changes the subject. He is scared that she resents him for blaming her for his mom's accident.

This is Dindet, she is an interdimensional space clown.

She isn't actually a clown- she just looks like one because her species thrive off emotions and require the ability to shift into forms that are suitable to elicit an emotional reaction. Dindet is actually a small colorful bean shaped creature that collects dark matter and manipulates its molecular structure in order to look like a clown, or any other entertainment based creature.

Dindet is a mostly happy go lucky little bean, who truly enjoys that she is alive at all. Oliver's dimension is full of emotionally intelligent humans who can keep her fed majority of the time is the best she could ask for.

Dindet loves Oliver, with all her bean, but she couldn't bare to tell him the truth about her situation and why she is here, so instead she deflects his questions and tries to make him happier, but she has a feeling he knows she is hiding things from him. Dindet would do anything for Oliver if he asked, and likes that he talks to her about his problems, even though she doesn't really return the favor.
