Liar

After leaving Lila in the bathroom, you found Adrien and told him what happened.

You think you hear him growl a little.

"Lila is always trying to pull something like this! Do you want me to say something to her? She might listen to me."

"Thanks, but nah. What could she really do? Spread a few rumors about me? I'll be gone by next week."

"Y/n, you don't know her like I do. She won't rest until your week here, and possibly just out in public at all, is miserable. She's crazy!"

"Oh come on, how bad could it be?" You can't understand how she could be so horrible in just one week.

"Very bad! You can ask Marinette, she knows how crazy Lila can be." He says, nodding over to where Marinette is coming out of the building.

"Fine, I will." You say, rolling your eyes and walking over to her, Adrien training behind.

"Hey, Marinette!" You say.

"Hi, y/n. What's up?"

"Well, I need to talk to you about something."

"What?"

"So Adrien had warned me about this girl, Lila always lying, and then she was mad at me because I was supposed to sit next to Adrien, which I couldn't even help, and she cornered me in the bathroom and kept talking about how I'm probably not actually dating Cat Noir, which would be kind of hard for me to have faked, as Alya has pictures, and multiple people have seen us together, but either way, she was threatening to make everyone hate me or something, and I don't really believe that she could do much, because I'll be gone in a week. And Adrien said to ask you, is the reason I'm telling you all this."

"Wow, uh, yeah, I'd believe her if I were you. She has almost everyone here wrapped around her little finger! They believe anything she says, even though she's a pathological liar! Even the teachers believe her, even though her stories don't always line up!"

"So she really could turn people against me?"

"Definitely. She's threatened me before. Basically in the same way as you, just different circumstances, of course."

"Didn't you go to the principal or something?!" You ask in shock.

"I didn't have any proof. There aren't security cameras in the bathrooms, of course. Not even the locker rooms, just the classes and hallways."

"Oh. I don't have any proof either."

"And Principal Damocles won't listen without proof."

"So we're just in a bind." You say, taking a deep breath.

"Yep. But what exactly was she threatening to do to you?" Marinette asks.

By now Adrien has walked up, and is listening.

"Basically just that nobody would like me, and everyone would think I lied about Cat Noir. But it's pretty obvious I didn't, because there's pictures, audio, and plenty of people have seen us together."

"Yeah, it seems hard to believe that she could make people ignore the evidence, but she probably can."

"Hey, what are you guys talking about?" Alya says, walking up to the little group, with Nino following her.

You glance at Marinette and Adrien, to see if you should tell her.

Adrien nods, while Marinette shrugs.

"Lila. She thinks I lied about dating Cat Noir." You say.

"Why? Hasn't she seen my Ladyblog photos?" Alya says, perplexed.

"I told her there's pictures, audio, and multiple witnesses, but she said it could be edited, and cosplayers."

"I guess that could happen, but I didn't edit my pictures, or audio."

"I know! And who you saw definitely was the real deal." You say.

"It sure looked and sounded like it." Alya says, sounding like she's contemplating.

"You don't believe me, or your own eyes?" You say in disbelief.

"Well, I have known Lila longer..."

"Alya! How many times have I told you that she's a liar!?" Marinette interrupts.

"Yeah but you were just mad that she-" Alya stops abruptly, looking to Adrien "-did something you didn't like."

Wondering what that's about, you look at Adrien.

He shrugs, and looks at Nino, who looks away.

"Why won't you believe me?!"Marinette asks.

"You have three people here telling you she's a liar, but you won't listen!"

"I need proof!"

"Isn't the fact that she's clearly lying about me proof enough?" You ask.

"Let's just see where it goes, ok?" Alya says, clearly not wanting to think her friend is actually so horrible.

"Fine." Marinette mutters.

That night Adrien comes over, as Cat Noir, and earlier than usual, per your request.

Since it's early and your family is still awake you both stay on the balcony, side by side against the railing.

"I can come to school to prove her wrong!" He suggests.

"We should just wait to see how bad it really is.  I don't want a whole fuss over nothing." You protest.

"Angel, we have no idea how far she could take this. You could be in numerous problems because of it. That isn't nothing!"

"Aw, Kitty. Getting extra protective?" You tease.

He wraps his arm around you and says, "I just don't want you getting hurt."

"I appreciate your concern, but seriously, what could she do?"

"You haven't been around her as long as I have."

"Still, let's at least wait and see how tomorrow is."

"If that's what you want, that's what we'll do."

"Good. I enjoyed being able to see you all day, but I didn't like that we had to act as if we didn't know each other. And the schoolwork."

He chuckles, and says, "I felt the same way."

Pulling away the arm that was around your shoulders, he uses it to take your hand.

"I've wanted to do that all day."

You smile, and lean up to kiss him.

"That too."

Laughing, you lean your head against his shoulder.

The next day, when you get to the school you don't see Adrien, but you do see Lila, and roll your eyes.

Trying to walk by unnoticed doesn't work, and she comes up to you.

"Well, look what the cat didn't drag in." She snarks.

"Really, Lila? Do you expect him to drop me off every day? Sorry to disappoint, but I'm not an attention hog like you." You sass, and try to continue inside, to where you spot Adrien.

"Or maybe it's just because he doesn't really even know you."

"You can't deny facts, Lila. Have you even looked at the Ladyblog to see the pictures are definitely real?"

"Please, Alya has great photoshop skills, and Nino is a DJ. All that could be edited."

"Whatever you say." You respond, and push her aside.

You walk over to the locker rooms, and try to find the one you've been assigned.

Right next to Adrien, of course.

Not that you're complaining.

While you're getting the books you need, a boy you've never seen comes up to you.

He has dark hair and eyes, and is wearing ripped jeans and branded t-shirt.

"Well hey there, are you new?" He asks.

"I'm the homeschool exchange student." You explain.

"Homeschooled from where? Heaven? Because you have the face of an angel!" He says, trying to sound smooth.

Before you can tell him to take his cheesy lines and go, you hear a snort of what can only be described as utter disgust.

"Back off dude, I'm not interested in your crappy lines." You say, rolling your eyes.

"Fine. Your loss." He says, and skulks off.

You roll your eyes again, and slam your locker shut.

But before you can turn to the door, you're tackled from that direction.

Hearing what sounds distinctly like a hiss, you laugh and make sure nobody else is around.

Luckily, the locker room is pretty empty, though you can hear some chatter from farther away.

You turn around to find, as you expected, Adrien, glaring in the direction the other guy went.

"What's a'matter Kitty? Jealous?" You tease.

"More like disgusted! How dare he use my nickname for you?! And with such a dumb line!"

"Honestly, I'm surprised you've never used that one. Or something similar."

"I have standards!" He protests.

"Yeah yeah, I know." You say, and lean up to kiss him, but before you can, the bell rings, and the door starts to open, so you quickly jump apart, and pretend like you're just talking.

He gets his books and follows you to Miss Bustier's class.

"That was close!" He whispers.

"Too close! We have to be more careful!" You respond.

On the way to the class, you notice many people are looking at you and whispering, but you assume it's from your relations with Cat Noir.

But then, when you get to class and sit down, a boy with glasses and a little robot hovering around him comes in and stops at your desk.

"My friend Lila says there's a 95. 9% chance that you've lied about Cat Noir. Is that true?" He asks.

"No! Do you follow the Ladyblog? There's pictures on there." You tell him, and he nods at this information and goes to his seat.

Then, the pink haired girl from yesterday comes up.

"So Lila said you probably don't really know Cat Noir. Did you lie to us yesterday? That's not cool."

"I know it's not cool, that's why I didn't do it." You say.

She moves on, but a few other people all come up and ask basically the same question, to which you continue saying to check the Ladyblog.

When the final bell rings and Lila saunters in, she smirks at you and walks to her seat.

You shoot her a glare, and try to listen to the teacher.

She gives a page number in the textbook, and you turn to it, then put your bag on the bench again, as Adrien had done.

You see Plagg inside and smile at him.

He returns it and gives a little wave.

You try to motion that he should go in your bag, and he does, phasing right through the fabric, and then sticks his head out with a huge grin.

Trying to conceal a laugh, you can almost hear him snacking on the cheese you'd put in for him.

Adrien drops his hand from the desk to the bench, and glances over to see if you're using your hand.

Since you're not, you place your hand in his, and this time, can stay like that most of the lesson.
