Adrien's POV

As I'm waiting with Aunt Amile to get more test results back on mom, I let my mind wander.

I start thinking about y/n, and how well she's doing with this super hero thing, without much experience.

I wonder if she's left yet?

"Hey, I'm gonna go find a drink. You want something?" I ask my aunt.

"No thank you dear, I'll just wait here." She replies.

"Ok." I say and leave the room.

I'm mostly going to see if y/n is still here, but I will get a drink.

Figuring the most likely place for her to be the waiting room, I go there.

I turn the corner and see her in one of the chairs, with Felix beside her.

He seems to be talking to her, but she has a bored expression.

I try not to laugh, but she looks adorable.

As I walk over they see me at more or less the same time, but their reactions are plenty different.

Y/n smiles, but Felix looks annoyed.

I wonder what he's bothering her about?

"Hi. How's your mom?" Y/n asks when I reach them.

"I'm not sure, she's still in testing."

"Oh."

"What's my mother doing?" Felix asks.

"She's waiting for the results, but I needed to walk around."

"Ok."

"Uh, Equina?" I say.

"Yes?" She answers.

"You can go home if you'd like. It's very nice of you to stay here for us, but who knows how long it'll be. No need for you to wait."

"That's... Oh right! I do have to go! I'm sorry, I hope your mom will be OK, but I have to leave."

"Thank you!" I say.

"You're welcome, it was nice meeting you guys!"

I smile as she summons a portal, and quickly goes through it.

I assume she had to go because her excuse wasn't supposed to take very long.

"Why'd you do that?" Felix asks.

"Do what?"

"Send her away."

"Because it was the right thing to do. She probably has somewhere to be."

"But I liked talking to her."

"Sorry."

He rolls his eyes, and I can't help but get a little angry and protective.

"What, did you wanna ask her out?" I question.

"So what if I did?"

"You know it wouldn't work out, you live in London, she's in Paris. Plus, she probably has a boyfriend. You don't know." I tell him.

"She has teleportation powers. She could visit anytime. And you don't know either."

The heck I don't.

"Still, she's not even a regular hero. She doesn't keep her miraculous all the time."

"You sound like you know alot about her." He says as he crosses his arms.

"Not just her, I'm from Paris! The city of Supers! It's not like I'm the only one who knows plenty about the different heros here."

"Whatever." He says and sits back down.

I roll my eyes and go get that drink, then return to the testing room.

Inside, my aunt looks like she's been crying.

"Aunt Amile, what's wrong?! Is mom ok!?" I ask as I rush to her.

"Oh, Adrien. Sit down, sweetie."

I do as she says and look at her, worried.

"Honey, the doctor says they've never seen anything like this. And they don't know exactly what could happen. They had a few different people come in to look at her, and nobody agrees on anything.

The only thing they could all say is that she could go either way. She could get better, or get worse.

They're putting her on life support, but there's not much they can do yet." She tells me gently.

I can feel tears start welling up, I can't loose my mother for a second time.

You made the portal come up slightly near your house, but not close enough for anyone to discover.

After detransforming you let Kaalki hide in your bag, where an apple is waiting for her, and walk home.

"Where have you been?!" Your mother demands.

"Sorry mom, I lost track of time. Really good book!"

She sighs and says it's OK, but to call next time.

"Will do, mom." You say and go to your room.

You get the notepad and write down the mental clue you had and hide the paper again.

Deciding to get started on the schoolwork you get a textbook and start reading.

Before much is done you get a text from bff/n, with a photo and some shocked emojis.

You open it and see a screenshot from the Ladyblog post about you and Cat.

Hehe. Didn't I mention that? You respond.

NO! Comes the reply.

Well, you were right. He did like me.

I knew it!!

You banter a little more with her, then finish the schoolwork.

Later that night you hear a familiar peck on the balcony door.

You go and open the door, smiling when you see Cat Noir.

"Hi, Kitty!"

"Hey, Angel. How'd your mission go?" He asks.

"Pretty good, I think. We got the woman to the hospital, I don't know her condition though, I had to leave so my mother didn't freak out." You say with a small chuckle at the end.

"I'm glad. Were the people nice?"

"Oh yeah. The sister, Amile, I think? Didn't talk much, but that's understandable."

"Yeah. What about the others?"

"Adrien and Felix? They were nice. Felix seemed a little snooty, and play boyish? But don't worry, I kept my word. No sarcasm." You say with a laugh.

He chuckles at you and shakes his head.

"So what does it mean if I passed the test? Do I get to keep Kaalki?" You ask hopefully.

"Aw, Angel. I'm sorry, but you can't. I'm not authorized to let you." He says with a frown.

"What do you mean? How are you not authorized?"

"Well, I'm not exactly the one in control of the miraculous."

"Oh. Is Ladybug?"

"Not really. I think she has more authority with them than I do, but she's still not supposed to let people keep them. Rena, Carapace, they don't have theirs all the time." He explains.

"Huh. Who does have the authority?"

"I can't say."

"You mean you don't know?"

"No, I mean I'll get in big trouble if I tell you."

"Ohh. Sorry, I guess I shouldn't have asked."

"It's OK, you were just curious."

You smile and call Kaalki over.

"Yes, darling?" She asks as she flies up.

"Cat's here to get you. I wanted to say goodbye." You say with a sad smile.

"Oh. Ok. I'll miss you, my dear. You've been wonderful!"

"Thanks, Kaalki. You're not so bad yourself."

She giggles and gives your cheek a hug, which you do your best to return.

"Hey, how did you come home earlier?" Cat speaks up.

"I used Voyage. Why?"

"Well, I was just thinking. What's the point of having a miraculous if you can't experience the best part?"

"What's the best part?" You ask.

"Transform and I'll show you." He says and winks.

You do as he says, and take the hand he offers.

He pulls you up and out to the balcony, where he jumps upon the rail and sits like a cat.

"Come on!" He says.

"I can't do that! I'm a horse, horses can't sit on rails!" You object.

"Not that silly! I mean, come on, so you can experience the thrill of running the rooftops!"

"I don't know..." You look at the distance, unsure.

"It's easy, watch!" He says and leaps the gap between your balcony and the next building, before jumping back.

"You have more experience!"

"Just trust me. I won't let you fall. Promise."

"O-Okay." You trust that he won't let you fall, but are still nervous.

"We'll do it together." He says and holds his hand out to you.

You take it and smile worriedly.

"One." He says and gets ready to jump.

"Two." You say and copy his position.

"Three!" He says and leaps.

You quickly follow, amazed at how far you reach.

Landing safely on the next building you laugh with delight.

"See? It's easy!" Cat says with a grin.

"Yeah, yeah."

"Let's go further!" He urges, and you comply.

After running and jumping from roof to roof you feel as if you've gotten the hang of it.

"Hey, Cat!" You shout to him, just across from you.

"Yeah?" He says and stops.

"Race you to the Eiffel!" You say and run faster.

"You're on!" He says and takes off.

You laugh and focus on the roofs beneath you, keeping the Tower in your sights.

You're almost there when Cat over takes you, but you notice he's using his staff.

"Hey! No fair!" You call to him.

"You never said any rules!" He yells back.

"Fine then. Voyage!" You shout and make a portal just in front of you.

You quickly run through it and find yourself on the Tower, just as Cat is leaping up.

"Now that's DEFINITELY not fair!!" He protests.

"You never said any rules!" You relay his words.

"Very funny. Cheater!"

"You cheated first!"

"Nu uh! My pole is just a little help, you teleported!"

"You're just sad you lost against the newbie!"

"I didn't lose! You cheated!"

"Whatever makes you feel better." You say and give an exaggerated shrug, before you start laughing.

Cat tries to look at you in dismay, but he starts laughing too.

Your miraculous starts beeping, so you detransform.

You give Kaalki the apple slices you'd put in your pocket earlier and forgotten to take out.

"Bye Kaalki. See you later!" You say when she's done.

"Goodbye, darling." She says, and you take off the glasses.

You hand them to Cat, and he puts them in his pocket.

"Do you wanna stay here for a minute while I return these?"

"Yeah. I haven't been in a while." You say, and look out.

"Ok. I'll be back in a bit."

"Alright."

He jumps away, and you look out over the city.

"Hey."
