Sleepover

Hayden

When Nicola offered a new game, everyone jumped to the opportunity.

"So, this game is called Warning Labels." I had a strong feeling this was being made up on the spot. "You uhm." Nicola paused.

"Spin the bottle." Vira suggested pointing at the empty coke bottle on the floor.

"Yes, and then the person it lands on has to say a warning label they wish you came with."

"I'll start" Jayden volunteered as he grabbed the bottle.

He spun the bottle and it landed on me, of course.

"Hayden, hmmm. I would say warning: girls will ignore you for him."

This drew a laugh from all the girls. "Ok, ok." I spun.

Vira. "Warning: will cry if shown puppies."

"I don't do that." Vira argued.

"Sure." Nick said sarcastically. The glare Vira gave him was enough to warn him.

Vira spun the bottle and it landed on Ocean.

"Warning: Small," was all Vira could come up with.

Nicola and Nick both burst out laughing followed by Jayden. I felt my cheeks heat up as I realised what she meant by that.

Ocean quickly took the bottle and spun it. Jayden. She scribbled something out and handed me her notebook. I could almost not say it because of my laughter.

"Warning: thinks he's a catch."

"What the fuck Ocean." We were all struggling to stay upright through the laughter as Jayden sat dumbfounded.

"Fine uh." he spun the bottle and it landed on himself. "For real? Ugh." he spun again. Me again. "Warning: cries while watching the lion king."

"One time." I glared at him. "That was one time." I spun the bottle again. Nicola.

"Oooo, warning: blind as fuck." I smirked at her before giving Jayden the side eye.

"Hey not fair." Nicola glared at me. She spun and got Nick.

"Warning: overprotective as fuck."

"Am not." " Are too."

Nick rolled his eyes and spun the bottle.

When it landed on Jayden. The entire room seemed to hold its breath. "Warning: enjoys pissing you off." I let out the breath I hadn't realized I was holding with a smirk.

Jayden didn't respond but spun the bottle and it landed on me. Fuck.

"Warning: somehow the best liar here." my heart sank. Normally I couldn't lie but somehow, they actually believed I was lying the entire year. I was just glad they weren't mad.

I spun Vira this time. "Warning: might accidentally kill a person."

"Ok that was an accident. How was I supposed to know Ocean would respond like that?"

Vira spun nick this time.

"Warning: horny as fuck." she glared at him, and his cheeks turned a shade of tomato that I had yet to see on him. Jayden and I started laughing hard. Wrong choice. Nick spun me and now he was out for my blood.

"Warning: total will ditch you for his girl."

I was speechless for a moment. "What? No."

"Your literally head over heels for Ocean. She's got you wrapped around her little finger." Nicola said.

"I... I'm...." I tried to defend myself.

"You know it" Vira added.

I glanced down at Ocean who gave me that innocent look that melted my heart slightly. No wait. She is my friend. We're not like that. I don't feel that. At all. I shook my head and spun the bottle and it landed on the one and only Ocean.

"Uh Warning: ..." my mind blanked entirely as I glanced at her smiling face. Shit. "Terrifying when upset." Is what I chose to say. Instantly her smile dropped and the ice that I was used to filled her stare. It sent shivers up my spine.

"Dude you pissed her off." Cola giggles as the bottle chose its next victim. Cola.

Ocean wrote down the warning and handed me the notebook. "Warning: will total your car."

"Hey! I'm not that bad at driving." Nicola tried to defend. "Plus, she's never driven with me."

"But she knows." Nick smirked.

"I don't like this game anymore." Nicola groaned.

"You created it." Vira countered.

"Well, we should watch a movie instead." Nicola suggested.

Ocean went to make popcorn as we all decided on the movie.

I pulled the small frame of Oceans being close to me after she handed me some popcorn. I made sure she was sitting next to me. I was honestly very surprised to feel her head sit against my chest. We had decided to watch a move that we all loved. It was a Disney movie but who cares.
It was about halfway through the movie that I realized; Ocean had been unresponsive throughout the who movie. I glanced down at her tiny figure, seeing that her eyes were closed. When I noticed her even breathing and the small fist that was holding the material of my shirt, it dawned on me that she had fallen asleep. I could help but want her to be mor comfortable. Lifting her up I moved over only about a foot or two over onto the chaise that was attached to the far end of the sofa, closer to the outside wall. Once I was seated, I brought her to sit on the cushions in between my legs. I leaned back slightly to rest my own muscles. Her body weighed nothing as it sat fragile against my chest. Suddenly she turned her body, now instead of having her back against my chest, her side was there. Her legs curled slightly, and her hand grasped my shirt, where my heart was. I felt her shiver and I pulled a blanket over us.
I continued watching the movie, subconsciously rubbing circles onto her back with my hand right hand.
Once the movie was finished, we cracked open another bottle of soda and Jayden turned on my gaming console while yelling "let's dilate and
We all took turns playing Mario cart, the winner rotating out. The top spot was held between me and Cola for the longest time. Until Vira figured out how it all worked that is. Not soon often she became the raining champion. I glanced at the clock, curios and saw it was already 12:30 am.
"Guys, I think its time we get to bed." I mentioned and the others looked at the clock as well.
"Yeah." Vira yawned.
The other all started to retreat up the stairs as I shifted, getting up leaving Ocean on the couch and I tried to pick her up, she began to fight me. Looking down I saw her eyes were open but barely. I wasn't in the mood to help a delusional girl up the stairs, so I told her what I was going to do. Lifting her off the couch, she wrapped her arms around and untried her face into my chest, where my heart was beats.
Once in my bedroom, I set he down gently, watching he stumble. I waited for her to use the bathroom before heading in myself. I got changed and did my business. When I stepped out of the bathroom, I saw that fact that she was on the couch. I had told her to take the bed. sighing in frustration, I lifted her effortlessly off the couch, before laying her on the bed. She attempted to struggle but it wasn't much since she was exhausted and very weak. I made my way over to the couch, laying down. I was very tired from all the excitement of today. Not to mention the scared look on her face. I was quite uncomfortable and found myself laying awake.
I heard the soft creaking of my bed, telling me she had gotten up. Hearing this, I didn't question at first, expecting her to go the bathroom. Instead, she came and stood a couple feet away from me. Sighing many thoughts ran though my head.
Sitting up, I glanced toward her.
"Ocean ..." I had to stop myself. All I wanted was to hold her close and tell her the truth. But she would never believe me.
"Come on, lets get you to bed." I stood up as I spoke walking toward her. The pale moonlight that was coming in through the glass door bounced off her skin, making it appear as though she was glowing. It also showed something rolling down her cheeks. I placed my hand on her back and forcefully guided her to the bed, even though she attempted to fight. Pushing her lightly down onto the bed, I made sure she was fully on the bed before puling the covers up over her tiny body. It was in this pale moonlight that I realized who tiny and variable she seemed. I turned to leave; I took everything in me not to press a kiss to her cheek. As I went to step way something grabbed my arm. At first, I was very surprised, turning back to her, I could feel fear heavy in the room.
"Hayden..."
Her voice sounded broken, afraid. It was so soft I would not have herd it in a room that was less silent than this one.

The silence that followed was filled by the pounding of my heart in my ears. Her voice was a soft melody.
The sound of her voice snapped something inside me. "Oh angel," I spoke as softly as I could, supressing my own tears. I sat down on the bed unsure if my legs would hold me. The fear that I had felt earlier today mixed with the overwhelming emotions she was bringing me into an irrational part of my brain.
I pulled her into my arms before I could stop myself, rocking her gently. I could feel her tears running down my bare chest, but I was beyond caring.
"I'm not going anywhere."
I rested my head against hers. Hoping she would understand. She slowly nodded her head and I think she did get it. Just to make sure I asked. "You want me to stay?"
Her nod said enough for me. Letting go of her, I stood before slipping under the covers next to her.
I wrapped one arm around her, bringing her as close to me as possible.
Laying down, I pulled the blanket over us with one hand, placing the other on the small of her back.
I turned onto my side, pulling her into my chest.
She curled up slightly, resting her head on my bicep. I wrapped my arms around her. I felt warmth blooming through me skin as she lay one hand over my heart.
I felt her breathing even out and I brought one hand to her face, brushing the tears away. At my touch I could almost see her smile.
I found myself press a soft kiss to her forehead as a single tear fell from my right eyes. Listening to the steady breathing of the angel next to me, I let myself fade into sleep.
