I woke up at my regular time, six, still completely clothed. I was in my bed. Glancing around, I wondered how I'd gotten here. This wasn't the first time I'd awoken fully clothed in bed with no memory. But this time there were no bumps on my head, and no dried blood. Shrugging, I made my way downstairs. In the living room I saw a huge mess. Sighing quietly to myself, I got to work straightening up.
Once that was done, I came into the kitchen. I started preparing breakfast for Hayden as I knew he'd be hungry. Today was the big day and I had nothing to wear I realized.
Lucas is going to kill me. I threw the extra plate I had used in the sink and set out the food for him. I started the dishes that hadn't been done last night.
"Thanks." The deep sleepy voice that filled the kitchen sent a shiver down my spine. "You're an amazing cook." The slight slur of his words told me he was still half asleep.
I was finishing up with the dishes when Hayden added his plate. I smiled at him and took it. Once washed, I reached for a towel to start drying. To my great surprise, Hayden had already started. He glanced at me before saying, "I don't expect you to do all the work you know."
I stood speechless.
"Also, I noticed you left your aunt and uncle off the invite list." Hayden said. "Don't like them?"
I shook my head and pulled out my note pad, scribbling down too far away.
"What do you mean?"
They live too far away.
"Ohhhhh." Hayden smiled, "So you didn't want then to feel pressured."
I debated on telling him the truth but decided against it. After all they didn't matter much anymore, I thought as I fought back tears. I tried to hide the single tear that ran down my face, but that was easier said then done.
"Hey, is everything ok?" Hayden brought me back to earth. I flinched down scared. If Lucas ever saw me cry, he would have hit me.
Hard.
So I would hit the floor.
Because tears are for the weak.
I smiled, a very fake smile, and nodded slowly.
I had just turned away when suddenly Hayden wrapped his arms around me.
Instantly I went still, praying he wouldn't hurt me.
Hayden let go as soon as he felt me go ridged.
"Sorry," Hayden mumbled before quickly leaving the scene.
I couldn't move, first the dishes now a hug. What was his deal? Why couldn't he be normal?
Like Lucas.
Sure, Lucas was mean, and he hated me, but he didn't hide it. It would only hurt Hayden to fake it when nobody was around.
I brought myself back to earth and started up the stairs. Once in my room I let a couple more tears fall before changing and heading back down to wait for his mom.
"Hey sweetheart," his mom greeted as I stepped into her car. "Ready to go shopping?"
I nodded slowly, unsure of how to act. Once I buckled in, we sped off to our destination.
We arrived a little after 9:15 and we were instantly helped.
A lady came up and asked for our measurements to which Hayden's mother responded with, "Just hers darling and we don't know them."
"Ok..." the girl smiled at me and pulled a measuring tape out and then asked me to hold out my arms. She took measurements of my waist, hips, bust and my height.
Jotting then down she led us to a room in the back with a dressing room attached. She disappeared moments later.
"I'm so excited for this you know, I realize it might not be real to you, but Hayden needs someone to teach him not all girls are the same."
I nodded slowly as though I understood what she meant. She continued to talk to me as we waited for the lady to return.
When she did, she had five dresses with her. She hung them up for us to see. There was a soft pink one, a bright red, a violet one, a white one and a dark green one.
"These are the only dresses we have in her size," the girl said softly.
"That's alright," Hayden's mother, Freya as she'd requested, I call her, smiled.
I first tried on the red dress. Freya said it would draw attention, but it did not suit my body type as it was strapless, and I don't have a bust. The violet one was soft, but it's cut hung too low in the back to my liking. its A-line skirt was likable though. The pink dress fit well but Freya wasn't sure about the colour. She said it made me look very ill. The white dress had a peak-a-boo stomach and mesh top that was too revealing for me. Freya liked it but I felt very uncomfortable. Finally, I tried on the green dress. It fit snugly, holding my curves according to Freya. The top was a simple spaghetti strap with a white sash around the waist. It then fanned out in an A-line fashion and hung just above the floor.
I felt beautiful in the dress, but I knew I probably made it look bad as I did all the others.
"It's perfect," Freya smiled.
She brought it to the front and payed for it, not letting me see the price.
Once back in r the car she told me they were going for lunch then she was going to get me ready for tonight. I couldn't really argue with her as I had no idea what to do with myself.
"Can you text Hayden and ask if he's out of the house yet?"
I did as asked, and once we'd stopped to pick up lunch, I showed her his response.
"Wonderful, now let's head back and get you ready!" Freya sounded more excited then I felt.
This was going to be a very long night.
