Home?

Ocean

Last night was late, and my father had made it even later. I was so glad I'd already packed the boxes I needed for tomorrow. Yeah, I was moving in with him. Mr. Playboy. Hayden Woods. Every girls dream. Well, news flash, not this girl.

I laid down in my bed, allowing my mind drift away.

I was walking on a moonlit path, wearing a beautiful white dress. There were many flowers growing on either side of the path. I walked until I saw another figure. This figure held a long knife. He had a cloak on, hiding his face. He stood, back facing me. He turned around slowly. I felt fear run through my blood. I wanted to turn around and run but my feet were rooted to the ground.

The figure started advancing toward me. He raised the knife and brought it down in a sweeping arc.

I woke up panting and sweating. I felt sick to my stomach with fear.

Scrambling up, I ran to the washroom. I ended up emptying the contents of my stomach into the toilet. Glancing at the clock, I realized it was only 1:30 am. Well, there was no way I would be going back to sleep.

Walking back to my bed, I grabbed the book that had made its home in my bag for the time being, Deep Blue.

I opened the book to the second chapter, since I'd already started it. I read for a while until my alarm went off. Getting out of bed, I got changed. Making my way downstairs, I prepared breakfast for my father before heading back up to my room.
I finished packing what little stuff I had left. Grabbing my schoolwork, I sat down at my desk. To kill time, I started to work on my homework.

It took me about an hour to finish the work for one of my classes. Then I looked over at the large pile of homework, sighing.

What's the point of doing it if you're only going to mess it up like everything else in your life?

Great so my "motivation" is back.

Thanks to you those many years ago you ended up here. Now you have to pretend your getting married to a rich jerk. Severs you right.

Knowing that this was not a good time for the critic in my head, I continued the work I had to do.

The worst part of the whole deal is now I had two torturers. Luccas had made it clear that since he was getting older, I would have to drop by after school everyday to help him. I know what he means by help.

Just to make my life worse I heard a knock on my door.

Getting up slowly and painfully, I walked over to the door and opened it.

Luccas.
Great. The person that I totally want to see right now.

"You are all packed I take it." He stated rather than asked. "Good. Hayden should be here any minute."

Luccas turned and said, "and the movers of course."

I stood confused for a moment. Then it dawned on me, I was going to drive with Hayden and a moving truck would get me stuff.

Your so slow some days.

I was about to turn away when I heard Luccas's voice ring through the house.
"Ocean, Hayden's here."

Instead of turning back into my room, I started to make my way down the stairs. Once I was halfway down, I saw that my father had opened the door already and was standing waiting for me. I ran the last few stairs and speed walked to the door.
"Are your boxes all packed, sweetheart?" Hayden added the last part with a bit of bitterness in his tone.

I nodded grabbing my coat and slipping on my tattered runners.
"The mover will be here shortly," Luccas smiled, though it was very fake. "I'll take care they get all your boxes. How many is that?"

I suddenly felt very selfish as I held up six fingers.
"Wonderful." Luccas smirked slightly.

I could feel Hayden's judgemental gaze on the back of my head. I let my head drop, trying to draw the attention away from me.

Hayden suddenly took my arm, "Well, I guess we will be off then." He then half dragged me to his car that was parked in the driveway.

Just as we left, the moving van drove up, and I could see one of Lucas's workers in it, Daniel I think his name is. Just to appear as though he were a gentleman, Hayden open the door for me before moving to the drivers' seat of his car. Starting the car, he muttered under his breath thinking I couldn't hear.

"Only six boxes. They had better be big boxes." He said to himself.

I knew he would be disappointed when he saw the sizes of the boxes. They were not big at all, and most of their contents were not in the greatest shape.

The car ride was silent for the most part, other that the soft music that Hayden hummed to softly thinking I couldn't hear him.

Once we got to his very large house, we stepped out of the car and he handed me a key.

"Come on." He grabbed my hand this time and led me to the door.

I slid the key into the doors lock and turned it, unlocking the door to my new "home" for the first time.

Hayden led the way into the house. He started by telling me to take off my shoes, which I did.

"This is the kitchen," Hayden started my tour of the house. "And this is the living room." He then brought us up the stairs. "These first two doors," he motioned to the first doors that could be seen in this hallway. "Are our bedrooms, this one is yours." He pointed to the one right in front of us. I understood that the one on the left was his.

"There are three guest bedrooms down the hall." He added.

I nodded listening to him carefully.

He started back down to the huge living room. It was big enough to hold a hundred people comfortably. He pointed to a hallway, "There are two offices and a spare room down there. One of the rooms down this hallway is locked. It will remain that way. Under no circumstances are you to go in there."

I nodded slowly, just them we heard a knock on the door.

Opening it we saw the movers had arrived, we open the door and Hayden told them which room to put the boxes in.

The movers were lazy people though, and the just left the boxes by the door.
