Four Eyes

Ocean

I finally got some time off work at Hayden's request. This weekend was the first and last weekend I would be free before Christmas.

Not bothering to change into proper clothes, I through on a sweater and hiked up my pajama pants before heading downstairs to prep breakfast.

Did I have any idea of what I wanted to do today? Yes. I wanted to take time to rest and relax and not leave the house. I had new books that I wanted to start. Maybe I could finally have some peace.

I pushed my glasses up my nose as they started sliding down. Having a bent arm was making it difficult to keep them on my face. They were only a couple years old so they could last me another couple years. The slipping was just something I would need to get used to.

I finished my breakfast just as Hayden sat down.

"Hey, where are you going?" Hayden called out as I tried to walk away.

I turned back and shrugged.

"Well, don't think just because you have today off work you can do nothing."

I nodded. of course, there was a catch. I would probably need to do some cleaning and preparing for something important. Whenever I got a day off there was a catch.

"Here." he tossed something at me. I didn't bother trying to doge or catch it. It was a gentle toss that didn't hurt when it hit me. It made a lout clang when it hit the floor.

Hayden's brow furrowed in confusion than he quickly apologized. "Sorry I should have wanted you earlier. Did I hurt you at all?"

I shook my head and bent down to pick up the Item. It was a set of keys. His keys for his car to be specific. I held them in my hand studying them for a moment in confusion.

"There's a bag in my car," Hayden started. "Its for you."

I looked up at him in confusion. He scratched the back of his neck before looking down at his plate. "I forgot to bring it in yesterday."

I nodded slowly and stepped back. Slowly I ducked out of the room and into the hall. Pulling on some shoes I stepped out to Hayden's car.

Sure enough, in the backseat was a bag. A fancy shopping bag. Grabbing it, I shut the door and darted back inside. The air outside was already giving me goosebumps.

I walked back into the kitchen to see Hayden with his face stuffed with food. He held up a finger. An action I knew very well. I paused to wait for him to finish chewing before he spoke.

"We are going out," was all he said. "Be ready at 11." With that he turned back to his food.

I stood for a moment trying to process what he said. The bag felt heavy in my hands. Finally, I decided to head upstairs and take a look at what he had in store for me.

Reaching my room, I set the bag down on my bed. I sat next to it, debating opening it up.

Finally, I peeked inside. Fabric of some sort. I reached in and pulled it out.

Laying it out gingerly on my bed I sat in aw. it was a deep brown jacket. The coat was a longer style with a double button closure at the front. I ran my hand over the interior. The fabric lining was soft and would help keep me warm.

I glanced into the bag to see if there was anything else. There were a couple more things. I pulled out one of the items. It was a knit sweater dress. A beautiful soft wool with a long sleeve and decent length. It was absolutely gorgeous

I pulled out the note and the final item. A pair of tights. They were thick with a soft lining.

I began inspecting the note. Sure, Hayden was kind, but this seemed a little over the top. On it was clearly the inspiration for the items. I flipped it over and was surprised to see writing scribbled on it.

"For your Date" with a small smiley face next to it was written in a messy cursive. It was signed with an F.

Freya. Hayden's mother was so kind.

Taking hold of the inspiration picture I walked over the closet Hayden had filled for me. I pulled out a belt, the scarf Hayden had gotten me and a set of healed boots. I Understood his reason for buying me clothes. He wanted to keep his face up for the time being. It was only fair. Maybe one day they would get passed on to his children.

Finishing off with a little makeup I stepped back to admire the look. I felt cozy in the clothes. My glasses sat on my nose in an awkward way. I pushed them up sightly taking a moment to check my face over.

The scrapes on my face were all healed for the most part. The two on my neck were not visible but they were scaring slightly. I winced lightly at the memory. Taking a dep breath, I prepared myself to meet Hayden. I grabbed a bag his mom had lent me and headed downstairs.

He was waiting for me in the hallway, looking sharp as ever. His jeans were lightly washed, and his black jacket looked crisp.

"Ready?" he asked as he saw me. He smiled at me and opened the door to let me out.

Once we were settled in his car, he commented. "We have a quick stop to make before lunch, I hope that alright." I nodded slowly before pushing my glasses up my nose again.

Pulling into the parking lot of what looked like an office, Hayden stepped out and waited for me to do the same.

We walked into the building and Hayden greeted the woman at the desk.

"Do you have an appointment today?"

"Yes, we have an appointment for her." Hayden motioned to me. Glancing around the office I recognized the kind of office. An Optometrist. Which often meant new glasses.

The appointment didn't take too long. It was determined that I would need a new set of glasses. Hayden had picked out a couple frames that were similar to mine. We found one that was comfortable and fit well. Hayden paid and it took only a half hour before they were ready.

When we stepped out to the car I still couldn't wrap my head around the fact that he was kind enough to do this. Something about it just felt off. I sat down in the car avoiding his glances. It was silent for the most part and I just stared at the new pair of lenses in my hands.

"You like them?" Hayden asked

I nodded.

"Good, I like it when you wear them."

Well, it made since then he wouldn't have to help me read things and I wasn't squinting.

"I think they make you look beautiful."

We sat in silence for the rest of the trip. Pulling up to the restaurant, I noticed that a couple people had their phones as Hayden helped me out of the car and into the restaurant.

We were quickly escorted to our table and Hayden pulled out my chair for me.

Taking the seat across from me with a smile. It was a little easier on my eyes now. He reached out for my hand and smiled at me.

"I don't think I told you earlier, but you Look absolutely stunning."
