Names are what give each individual cat their identity. Unlike humans, cats of the Clans will usually have two name changes throughout their life (unless they are a leader who will receive another name change to -star).

Although cats requesting for a name change are rare, adding it to your fanfiction will be a nice touch - just don't overdo it.

Picking a name for your OC could be relatively difficult. Therefore, I suggest you look over your OC's appearance and personality. For example, of you have a small, brown-furred tom with quite a temper, you can name him Burnclaw, or anything you think fits into his description.

However, never ever use the prefixes Kit, Paw, and Star. Those names are off-limits. Can you imagine a kit called Kitkit? Or an apprentice named Pawpaw? Don't even get started on a leader named Starstar.

Avoid strange and spoofy names such as "Cookieshine". Imagine Cookieshine talking to a cat:

"Hey, Cookieshine! We need you on a patrol."

"Fur real?"

I don't think anyone will take that cat seriously. Some examples of good prefixes:
