*****

As seen in the definition given, cliché is something we see everyday, especially in books. Be it an attempt to create drama, interesting factors, or just to write something you like, a cliché plot is something we need to try stir clear of.

Examples of factors of a cliché idea (warriors):
• Main character is a she-cat.
• Main character becomes the leader/deputy.
• Forbidden love.
• Warrior code broken a million times.
• Main character has light-coloured pelt and blue eyes. Pelt ranges from white to silver to grey.
• Love triangle.
• StarClan cats gathering around a starry lake to discuss a prophecy in the prologue.
• Story begins with the birth of the main character.
• Flawless protagonist.
• Antagonist with a sad, tragic past.

Now that I have listed a few examples, you should have a general idea of what to avoid. Aim for originality! Your own ideas are what make your book special. It gives readers an insight to your skills, so why not give it a try?

If you tried really hard and couldn't think of anything, just think back - did you ever have an interesting plot you think you'll definitely like to write? How can you make that plot special? Another way could be avoiding all clichés and work towards originality. If you need more help, feel free to ask!
