~from (y/n)'s POV~
You froze up, still hidden in the relative darkness of the shadows bordering the fire. The screaming was agonizing - and familiar.
That's when you saw Jean, his skin turning red - burning.
His phone...the fire...
You saw a flash of black and silver by one of the logs. Without thinking, you ran over to the fire, wincing at its heat, and reached for the phone.
You screamed as your hands began to burn, not catching on fire, but like you'd grabbed a pan directly out of the oven.
Two arms grabbed you and yanked you back, and the yelling joined the screaming.
"What the hell were you thinking (y/n)?!" Erwin yelled, having grabbed your left arm.
"The hell were you thinking?!" Levi yelled, having grabbed your right arm.
Looked like they were agreeing on something for once.
"Damn it, Eren, get some cold water and a rag."
"Jean-" you gasped, your hands emphasizing all sensation of pain in your body. They were bright red, the outline of a phone seared into one of them.
"Stop," Levi commanded, snapping in front of your eyes. "Focus on yourself." He looked up. "ARMIN! You handle Kirstein."
Eren came back with a water bottle and a t-shirt. "Sorry," he mumbled. "We don't have any real cold water sources and this was all I could-"
"EREN!"
"Right." He handed over the items, and Levi quickly twisted open the cap.
"Put your hands on this rag," he commanded, and you did so, but you jerked away when your burnt hands made contact with the fabric. You bit down on your lip to stifle a scream.
"Just - hold them still." Levi poured the water over your hands. "Just - stay."
Then he got up and went over to deal with Jean.

~from Levi's POV~
How did everything go wrong so damn fast? (Y/n) goes missing for hours, then shows up and tries to jump into a fire. I still don't know what to think about that.
Then Jean just started - I don't f**king know - combusting. I'm not sure if the two events were related or not, but shit is going down here, and I don't have a f**king clue.
I'm not in a good mood, if you couldn't tell.
And what the hell were we going to do about Kirstein? His whole body looked like (y/n)'a hands. If he didn't die, he'd be scarred for life.
"There's a dunk tank," Erwin said quietly. "It's not far."
I paused before nodding, not because it was a bad idea, but because it was his. "Fine. We'll carry him."
The four of us - myself, Eren, Armin, and Erwin - carried Jean, ignoring his screams of agony as Erwin led the way.
"How'd you find this place, anyway?" I asked as we walked.
"I, uh, found it when...with Annie..."
"...if we weren't carrying Kirstein right now-"
"I know. You have every right to."
After about five minutes, we came to a dunk tank, just like the bastard had said. With a big heave, shoved Jean in.
I watched as his writhing motions soothed down a bit as the water relieved the burn.
That's when I realized.
We had left (y/n) with Annie.
Annie, who might be a murderer.
I started running.

~from (y/n)'s POV~
You stayed still as Levi had instructed, but you kept an eye on Annie, who sat across the fire from you.
"Just like you, to run away and make everyone worry about you."
You were surprised out of your pain by the hostility in your voice. "Sorry...?"
"Playing your Miss Helpless card. And Erwin will just keep running right after you. Pathetic. Both of you."
"What's your problem? You don't even care about Erwin."
"True. But I hate you even more."
"Gee, thanks."
"Just saying-"
"Please don't. I have more important things to think about right now," you said, looking down at the phone that you had saved. If it had been Annie burning, would you have grabbed the phone? Or if it had been Eren? Or Armin?
Or Erwin?
You thought of Jean, his whole body burning like he'd been in the flames himself. How could you help him?
You stared down at the water bottle in your hands, and then back at the phone. If putting the phone on fire burnt Jean, would pouring water over the phone help him?
That's when Levi came running up.
"(Y/n)!" he shouted, but he was staring at Annie. Odd. He came over and sat next to you, panting slightly. "I just - are you okay?"
You realized that your eyes were watering. "I...I was thinking that if I poured water on the phone, it might help Jean...but then I couldn't help picturing his body convulsing as he was electrified. Just like Marco. Oh, God."
Levi hesitated before patting my head gently and ruffling my hair. "He'll be okay."
You were surprised, but you didn't say anything. You were content at the moment with Levi's fingers in your hair.
Even though you still a little pissed at him.

~from Levi's POV~
I wanted to kiss her. But I didn't.
No, I didn't give a f**k about Annie, not as long as she wasn't going around murdering people.
Just, (y/n)'s hands were burnt, and if I kissed her, I wanted to hold her face, and I wanted her to hold my face, too. Or do something with her hands, at least, not just let them hang at her sides limply.
But the fire just had to get in the bloody way of things, didn't it.
So I didn't kiss her.
But I wanted to.
