Chapter 12: Truths and Decisions

"There's no way that can be true!"

Calypsa grabbed her staff. "Lyra," playing loud music around them before covering them up in wool while she climbed next to him in deep proximity.

"Calm down," losing the seductive trait in her voice. "Let me explain."

"Breathe in, breathe out, phew. Okay, go."

"The six of us were playing around one day. Our powers had somewhat awakened but yours, and one of you heard a sound coming from underneath your palace. All of us followed through, and out of the blue, we were surrounded by Voids."

"They tried fighting them off and failed?"

"All of us were having our magic taken from us when your burst blew them away. None of us could use our abilities but you started weaving all four elements. The next time we knew, portals of Starlight began opening up everywhere. We heard your parents fighting upstairs and arguing over something while we screamed for their help."

"What did my parents do?"

"The people willing to talk said they saw her outside the palace trying to get everyone to escape, but your dad came in, holding his sword and the Voids all looked like it was listening to him. The next thing we knew, Xia's and Rigal's dads showed up, a Void was about to stab us, and more unstable Starlight portals emerged."

"And I fell through one."

She shook her head. "Your dad used his powers to stabilize one and tried pushing you all through it, but I was the only one who saw you leave. When all the fighting stopped, both your parents were dead, the Divine Four had to use the Starlight to have everyone escape to the other continents and they announced your parents were the ones responsible for the attack," gripping her staff.

"Oh, shoot. Did they ever find out why there were Voids in our kingdom?"

"The Divine Four are the only ones who claim to have the full story but the investigators claimed they were using the Voids as a plan to take over the other kingdoms, but it backfired."

"And Rigal, Xia, Ainsley, and Rigal?"

"Since their powers were stolen, they had to undergo intense training to try and regain it. Ainsley and Taylor were more confused than angry, but Rigal and Xia were furious."

Sehki's arm hair shuddered with him. "I stole their power?"

Calypsa touched his cheek. "We don't know for certain, but regardless of what anyone says, it wasn't your fault."

"But the truth means nothing if people are blinded by the perception." I have to take the risk. "Was there like some sort of body double or someone close to the king who tried to do something?"

Her eyes shied away. "There was, but he-"

"Died? Or Vanished?"

He noticed her hesitating.

"Don't know for certain. But it didn't help matters. Your parents never showed me any signs they would do that, but thankfully, you're still here."

"But the whole world hates me. I don't want them to see me as a monster but I can't let them walk over me. Calypsa," thrusting his body in front of her. "Please help me become stronger!"

She thought for a second and smirked. "How about you beg for me, and, may~be I'll teach you."

"Oh beautiful goddess mage of astrology," removing the sheets and bowing to her knees, "please."

Calypsa's cheeks widened before bursting in laughter. "Me, beautiful? Geez you're too easy to tease," needing a second to recover before pulling him up by his throat."But you have to listen to what I have to say almost all the time. Understood?"

"Sir, yes ma'am!"

"Alright," chuckling before letting him go. "Before we begin any questions about anything?"

He pondered the thought. "Several."

She pulled out a whiteboard, adjusting her glasses. "Professor Calypsa is at your service."

"Aquarius is a water bearer," looking at his test, "so why are they an Air Sign?"

"Aqurius was the hero who gathered moisture from the air space during the initial battle with the Voids to help give the planet water. How do you think the water cycle works, Dumb-ki?"

"Evaporation, condensation, and precipitation."

"Well who do you think created that system in the first place?"

"Oh," forgetting he wasn't on Earth. The settings were the same but the vibes were different.

"What's the signs and constellations of all the heirs?"

"Xia's sun sign are Leo and Virgo, Phoenix StellArts. Taylor's sun sign is Cancer and Gemini, Volans StellArts. Rigal's sun sign are Aquarius and Pisces, Aquila StellArts. And Ainsley's a Virgo-Libra sun sign, Cassiopeia StellArts."

"They're all cusps? I kn," don't slip up, "assume all the kingdoms barring mine are kind of at peace right now but why does it feel like they're trying to see who could make the strongest heir to beat the other? Weren't they all going to rule together?"

"Sehki," frowning. "It's always been shaky. But thanks to the incident, their alliance should be stronger than the other," facepalming with aggression. "Growing up with these four can be so," noticing he was staring, "anyway, next question?"

That was on the signs he didn't know. Volans were more maneuverable water symbols able to mimic bursts of flight in the air, Cassiopeia was about land mass alteration, both of which he figured fit them too well.

"Wait, what's your signs?"

"That's my little secret for now."

She's hiding something again. "Fine but what's with the staff?"

"It's," spinning around it, "a memento. Think of it as a tool to assist those with either lacking or uncontrollable magic systems."

"There's techno-sorcery?"

"No, The Three Precepts Religion believed that scientists worked with descendants of the heroes to create the technology we have today. There's been pushback by idiots who think making devices to help those with injuries, deficiencies, recoveries, or war would," putting her hands under her eyes, "take away from the gift of the stars," mockingly."

Okay, they're good guys. "Your staff is really cool."

"Thanks," now wrapping her arms around his neck and gripping them. "Let's hope yours is just as strong."
