Natsu

I wasn't too tall for Lucy. I was just the right height that she could reach around my neck without having any issues. I honestly had no idea what to do at first right when the first lyrics started playing. The only girl I've ever danced with was Lisanna and she knew what she was doing the whole time. It was homecoming freshmen year when the DJ thought it was okay to play a slow song. I was just there awkwardly trying to figure things out.

Never slow danced since.

But now? Slow dancing with the girl I've been confused about for the past twenty-four hours? Somebody kill me now.

My eyes have gone blind, time has stopped

My hands slowly grabbed her waist.

I got to know you, who is so eye-blinding

We swayed once to the side but none of us had the courage to look at each other.

I can't hide it, I can't help myself

My head was slowly turning towards her. Lucy's brown eyes looking up.

I love you, I want you

Huge warm brown eyes meets dark black dragon ones.

I know I can't have you- the love of a friend

My heart begins pounding more, my grip on her waist tightens.

I can't forget for a single day- I can't stop

I slowly draw her closer to my chest, towards my heart beating for her; longing for her.

Breathlessly, I love you, I only love you

When Lucy's cheek touched my heart, I thought I was going to lose it. I wanted her, I needed her right there. I wanted the kiss we didn't get to finish yesterday. I wanted to hold her like this in my arms forever where she's protected, where I know for sure she's safe and won't get hurt no matter what happened.

Where I can look at her face everyday, where I can repeatedly tell her:

"I love you, Lucy."

My heart that looks toward you is burning

Lucy's head slowly turned until her eyes were staring at mines as if searching for the hint of a lie or a joke anywhere in my eyes. Well, she's never going to find it that's for sure.

We're not friends, we're not lovers- it hurts and I cry

"N-Natsu...?" She blinked once, her eyes shining with the tears slowly being created. "W-what did you just say?"

My heart cannot be hidden- it's getting bigger- it hurts

My grip on her tightened, "Lucy, I lo -"

"GUYS!!! I'M HOME!!!" a girl suddenly shouted over the slow music. Numerous groans filled the room. Only then did I notice it was only me and Lucy left on the dance floor while others were watching the whole scene.

Is that popcorn I smell?!

At the front door stood a girl with short silver hair similar to Mira's and Elfman's. She was taking off her tennis shoes and judging by her outfit, she has just gotten off a plane or a long ride from somewhere.

"Lisanna?!" Everybody gasped. I was shocked, too. She never told us when she was coming home so we just passed the days awaiting her all from the airport saying she landed. Jellal had turned the music down a bit.

"What?" she looked at the crowd of watching teammates. "You guys look like you've just seen a ghost."

"T-that's not it," Mirajane cleared. "Why didn't you tell us when you were coming back? I could've picked you up."

The little sister shook her head, "I heard there was a party so I didn't want to pull you away from it is all. I just took a cab here."

When nobody else said anything, Lisanna asked, "What? Did I mess something up?"

Her ocean blue eyes finally turned to where Lucy and I were. I didn't even notice Lucy was out of my arms until I met Lisanna's eyes. I was only holding the air of where Lucy used to be. My friend was a few inches away.

"Natsu!" Lisanna suddenly made a run towards me, arms wide open. The only thing I could do is catch her just as she landed in my body.

"Lisanna," I barely managed to breathe. "Welcome home."

She separated and looked at me, arms still around my neck, "It's good to be back."

Out of the blue, just like that, her lips touched my cheeks. Some of our teammates gasped; others just left.

I managed to finally push Lisanna off my body. She looked at me, confusion in her blue eyes. From her, my eyes flashed to Lucy. Or where Lucy used to be.

I only managed to catch her back retreating into the crowd of remaining friends. Brushing right past Levy, Erza, Juvia, and Loke. All four shot me glares of disgust before following the blonde. I tried to follow, too but Lisanna's hand grabbed my arm, "Natsu, who was that?"

Jellal finally entered the room clapping his hands once, "Welcome home, Lisanna. It's always great to have you so let's continue this party as a welcome home bash."

When nobody jumped at the sound of the declaration Jellal ended with a, "A hundred bucks for the person to outdrink Cana."

Immediately, the teammates bellowed and roared with excitement. The officer played the music again, this time a dance song to fit the atmosphere of drinking. Turning to me, he gave me the gesture to follow him into his room. This is about to get good.

I followed without a single sound; knowing everything I say now can be used against me during our conversation. Once inside his room, he took off his tie and sighed loudly. I sat on his bed, hands resting on my knees and head in my hands. Everything that happened without mere seconds messing with my thoughts completely.

"What are you going to do?" Jellal finally asked, opening the top button of his shirt to breath a bit easier. He's frustrated, I know. He and Lucy have a pretty good friendship going on that he wants to protect her like she's his little sister. Told me so last night so I didn't misunderstand their relationship (he caught me glaring at him through a window).

"I don't know," I growled into my hands. "I don't know."

"So you're not going to tell her?"

I gritted my teeth.

"Why are you not going to tell her?"

"Because," I rubbed my hair. "Lucy's already hurt as it is. I doubt she would want to hear anything else from me."

"It's going to only hurt her more if she found out later."

I didn't say anything.

Jellal sat beside me, his hand on my back, "The least you can do, for the person you love. Is to let her know."

I bit my lip.

"Is to let her know you're getting married to another woman."
