22: Jose Porla, You Are Under Arrest

Lucy

I was out of energy, out of breath. The pressure, the tension was too much for me.

I didn't even bother standing to watch the ball and where it's end destination is.

I fell to my knees, head down panting, eyes closed letting everybody else decide if I made it or not.

'She did it folks! A 32 yd goal! Lucy Heartfilia has done it! A perfect goal to the top left corner right passed all those people!

'Heartfilia has never failed to let us down. No matter daughter or mother, she had us at the edge of our seats the whole entire time!'

That means...

Arms wrapped around my waist bringing me upwards straight into the lights of the stadium. The crazy shouting and cheers along with the foot stomping of the fans numbed my ears and my body. Tears were brought to my eyes.

I made it...

"You did it Lucy!!!" Natsu was the one who picked me up, his bright face smiling up at me. "We won Lucy! We Won!"

The state the whole entire stadium was in, people'll think I just saved the world or something.

I gave Natsu a tearful smile, my hands cupping his cheeks, "We all did it!"

Salamander pulled my stomach closer to his head, lifting me higher up for everybody to admire. I saw our subs run onto the field shouting and dancing around. Levy and the two other players trying their best not to cheer too loud. Injuries might reopen.

It wasn't long until everybody started chanting my name, I laughed at all of them. This truly was an amazing moment.

Victor blew the whistle to indicate it was the end of the game. Fairy Tail FC wins 4-3.

Natsu put me down so our other teammates can get their share of giant bear hugs. Gray threw my head into a headlock, Macao ruffled my hair. I saw flashes of other smiling faces in front of mines. All the cheers and the joy came to a stop when an angry shout sounded through the stadium.

"I paid you!" Jose...

"You did and I did my job," Victor said. Gray brought my head around so I could see the scene myself.

Jose was fuming, his clown like face redder than when I kneed him where the sun don't shine.

Victor took his headset off, "Just leave it be."

"I'll make sure you get fired!" Jose spat.

"Too bad," the ref ripped the headset completely off. "I quit. No harm, no foul. This win just shows you how strong Fairy Tail is, despite the fact that I helped you."

Victor looked at us, his eyes landing on Jellal, "You're the cop, right?"

I could see the officer nod.

"Arrest him," Victor pointed. "For the kidnapping of your striker. And the attempted murder of three more of your teammates."

"You have no proof son," Jose chuckled. "No proof, no arrest."

I tapped Gray who freed me immediately. I walked over to the man I've come to despise, "No proof but there's a witness."

"How noble of you," the coach laughed. "I wonder how your team would feel when they find out it was your father who hired me to nail three of your friends onto a tree."

I bit my lip.

"Shut it," Jellal said, gesturing for Sho (one of the officers working the match) to come over. "You have the right to remain to silent as well to a lawyer. Anything you say can be used against you in court. Jose Porla, you are under arrest for the kidnapping of Lucy Heartfilia as well as the attempted murders of Levy McGarden, Jet Young, and Droy Jin."

Jose tried to run but Jellal grabbed his arms and twisted it behind his back. The old coach tried saying other things to get him out of arrest but Jellal's face was completely blank as he put the handcuff on the man's wrists.

We watched Sho haul him away.

"Hey Lucy?" it was Cana but I didn't look at her. I couldn't look at any of them. This was my fault, my fault our friends got hurt. I know that but Coach Makarov made sure I understood that it's not my fault.

So I just...ran.

Natsu

Lucy wasn't in school the next day. I tried going after her when she was running out but Erza and Jellal stopped me. Told me she needed a little bit of room so I didn't bother her all night.

The next morning, I waited for her so we could walk to school together but she never came out. In the end, I had to sprint to school without her. All throughout the morning, everybody was wondering where she went off to. They'd ask me where she was and I'd reply with an 'I don't know'. The teachers were getting pissed off, too. She did miss three days of school already because she was kidnapped on Monday and Tuesday, now she's nowhere to be found today.

Levy was called into trial for her harassment as well as Lucy's kidnapping. We watched the trial on the TV during lunch. Gajeel was even there along with the Element 4. The judge ruled in favor of Levy because countless witnesses did see Gajeel hanging out around her house minutes before she was hung. Jellal was there during the whole hearing, giving out the evidence and stuff needed to lock Jose away for the next fifty years. The judge ruled the whole case as an attempted murder. Gajeel just got off with prohibition along with the rest of the Element 4. They were ordered the duty in fear that they'd lose their places on the team.

The judge also called in the head Fifa official of Fiore who formally fired the referee, Victor, for his take in bribery and dismissed Phantom Lord FC for good.

After school, Erza, Gray and I headed over to Lucy's place again to see if she was in. Gray rang the doorbell a few times but no answer. Erza called her name several times, still no answer. Fed up, I climbed in through the broken window and entered her room.

"Stop pushing, Gray, I'm going!" Erza growled.

Immediately, we set to work looking for anything to tell us where she might've gone. We stopped when we found her drawer of underwear that should never be worn anywhere at any cost.

"I don't get it," I sighed angrily falling stomach first onto her very soft bed. "We told her it wasn't her fault. So why would she disappear without another word?"

Gray sat on the floor, his back against the bed, "Because it isn't her fault but she felt guilty. Lucy's like that, you know."

"Then where could she have gone?"

"She went home," Erza said, her voice cracking.

Gray and I were on our feet seconds later, looking over our captain's shoulder. A piece of paper in between Titania's shaking fingers. The words, 'I'm going home' written in perfect cursive.

"Evidently she left this for us," Erza said. "She's gone."

No... Lucy!
