15: I'm Not Afraid
Lucy
You're my everything now, Lucy.
Natsu?
My eyes slowly opened, revealing a plain white ceiling. I blinked twice more before looking to the side; a lamp post and a bedside table stood beside me. It took me a moment; I actually thought I was back in my bedroom. The layout of my prison was at least comfortable for me to be thinking that. It was when I saw the giant sliding balcony door did I know it wasn't my room.
I shot up and noticed two cold metal objects circled around my wrists. Handcuffs? Did I get arrested or something?
No... that's not right.
The events that happened before I blacked out flashed in my mind. The cuckoo hut lady just repeating how it was gonna rain, than she even knew my last name, too! Then the random sharp pain that caused me to black out. Somebody must've been working with her to kidnap me but why?
The pain returned slightly but it was bearable. A Tylenol should be enough to subside the pain completely. So either my kidnappers are in desperate need of money and using me as a ransom demand or they're perverts ready to rape me. I shivered at the fact... they did handcuff me and bring me to a hotel.
The door of the room clicked as if a card key was being used. My head snapped towards the direction to see one of the ugliest clowns to have ever walk in. No he wasn't say a clown you'd see at a circus but his eyebrows weird mustache along with the pitch black lipstick and crazy wizard hat didn't set him far apart from one that's for sure.
"Ah, so glad you are awake, Miss Lucy," he started, his words a little slur as if he were drunk. But I know he's very quite sober.
"Where am I?" I demanded right away, trying to wiggle out of the handcuffs. "Why am I here?! What day is it?"
He visibly shrugged, "I told Juvia and Sol to be a little gentle with you. But they were afraid you were going to escape with your Taekwondo skills so they hit you as hard as they did. You've been out since Sunday afternoon, two days exactly Miss Lucy."
S-so it's Tuesday than?! The game! Did it already happen?
"What time is it?!" I demanded.
"Oh don't worry about that," he smiled. "It's only 5:30 PM. Your game hasn't started yet."
I grit my teeth, "Let me go!"
"Whatever in the world would you think I'd actually let you go just because you asked?" he sat down at the edge of the bed. "I'm only doing my job but imagine my surprise when I learned you were the new striker of Fairy Tail. It's like killing two birds with one stone."
"What does that have to -"
I stopped. My mind slowly summing up his words.
"Coach Jose Porla of Phantom Lord FC," I growled. "Is that why you kidnapped me?! Because I'm one of the many reasons why you might lose this group match? Well, I'll have you know Fairy Tail is fully capable of winning without me."
He burst out laughing as if what I said was the funniest thing he's ever heard. I watched the coach in disgust until he finally returned to his senses, "You actually think that that's the reason why I kidnapped you in the first place? No, I only learned Fairy Tail just hired in a brand new striker that is sure to bring them victory after victory after Juvia and Sol brought you here."
"So there's a prior reason as to why you'd knock me out in broad daylight and bring me here?" I snapped.
Jose snapped his fingers, "There's a smart girl."
My jaw tightened.
"I heard," he started, scratching the back of his hand, "That you're a runaway girl. Ran away from your father the moment your mother dies; leaving the poor guy all alone. I must say, Miss Heartfilia, that that's quite an immature thing to do, especially to your own father when you're all that he has left."
My jaw was locked in place; I was putting two and two together.
"It was him, wasn't it?" My eyes focused on a spot of the spotless white sheets of the bed. "He sent you to kidnap me..."
"And bring you home, yes," Jose smiled. "A girl of your status should not be running around in the grass and mud scoring goals for a group of hooligans in the first place. Leave that to the commoners, you need to return to your palace, am I right, Princess Heartfilia?"
That's it then? My father wanted me home so he sent kidnappers after me just to lock me up and bring me home, is that it? No, like I'll ever let that happen. Father never cared about me before and now he's suddenly worried so he wants me home?
In his dreams...
"Ummm, can you please untie me, Coach?" I started in the sweetest voice I could usher out my throat at the filthy man.
Jose looked at me, his black eyes surprised.
"I really," I looked at him with huge puppy eyes. "Really need to go to the bathroom."
"You can't possibly think that that's going to work on me, right Miss Heartfilia?" he sighed with an amused smile. "That's the oldest trick in the book."
"But it's an emergency!" I complained.
He held his hands up as he got up, "Alright, alright hold on right there than."
I watched the old coach crouched looking for something in the dressers holding a small flat screen TV up. I looked over at the sliding patio door. The sun is already setting but I could see the door was unlock, much to my luck. He rattled something for a bit before pulling out... the ice bucket?
"There use it then," he put it on the floor beside the bed. "Go ahead, if it's such an emergency."
I slid off the bed, wiggling my legs a bit, "Well, if you insist."
Jose didn't expect that. His face crinkled in disgust, before he reached into his suit pocket on the inside, "Some lady you are, turn around."
I did as I was told, showing him my cuffed arms. I knew if he took the few seconds to unlock the handcuffs, it'd be too late. I can do that later.
My heartbeat bumped twice before I accepted the courage. I grabbed the key to the handcuffs, throwing the old man off a bit. Then before he could do anything to me, I did a perfect back kick using most of my strength and forcing the palm in my foot into the place where men... would die.
The coach was in utter pain. His hands quickly grabbed his crouch. He could barely breath and the pain written all over his face still showed that he was somewhat human.
I didn't stay to see if he was alright. I dashed towards the patio door and slid it open into the cool evening air of Magnolia. I stopped at the black metal bars, looking down my heart dropped with the distance.
"Ha, hahahaha," Jose was crawling on his knees toward me. "You got the upper hand with me back there, Missy, but you have nowhere left to run."
His eyes looked into mines and I was almost frozen in place as his he continued, "We're six stories up. You're as good as dead if you take the leap."
I know you're there.
I closed my eyes and started climbing onto the railed backwards, one foot at a time. The railing wasn't too big but my balance was on point.
I know you're there, right?
I can't be certain but I can tell. He's there, I know he is. I heard his voice earlier, loud and clear. He's here... they all are. I trust them, I entrusted them with my life the moment I passed the ball back into their circle. It's only been less than a week but I trust them. I know they'll do everything they can to keep me safe.
I opened my eyes and glared straight into the face of my kidnapper, my enemy. His eyes scanned my face before they grew twice in size. Good, at least he knew I wasn't afraid.
I didn't anything as I leaned back, completely horrified when the metal railing disappeared under my feet. Gravity immediately took did it's job, pushing me at an impossible speed down towards the very Earth below me. I shut my eyes, my heart dropping beyond belief. I couldn't feel anything but the cold metal of the handcuffs around my wrist and the key in my fingers.
I know he's there, I know they're all there.
So with the strength I had left I opened my mouth and shouted at the top of my lungs his name ringing through the streets of Magnolia.
"NATSU!!!!!"
Not many moments later, I could hear the pounding of running feet against concrete and the voice of the boy, no, the man that I came to love so much.
"LUUUUUCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
