Monty

Codie sits on the toilet lid as Moon carefully removes her stitches. His long and gentle fingers work at them quickly but gingerly. While she holds her shirt up, she asks, "Why do you have claws?" right as he cuts another stitch with said claws.

"Security measure." He answers without looking up. "Sunny had them as well when we shared a body but he hated them. He didn't want them back when we separated." Moon doesn't blame him one bit.

Codie hums and then hisses when he nicks her by accident. He apologizes and continues. They settle into a comfortable silence. He clips the final piece and Codie is free of stitches. He stands back, judging his work before Codie can put her shirt down as she stands up.

"All good?" she asks. Moon hums, nodding his head once. "Thank you." Codie smiles up at him. He grins back, saving her smile in his memory bank. They exit the bathroom and greet Sun in the living room. "Wanna play something?"

"Yes!" Sunny agrees instantly, jumping up from the couch. The remote tumbles onto the floor. Codie walks around and kneels in front of the TV stand, placing her Switch into its dock. The two daycare attendants observe the human as she goes about setting it up before taking a seat in between the two on the couch.

The opening theme turns on and a cute jingle plays. Codie hands each bot two joycons in their grips. Moon tilts his head, reading the title. "Stardew Valley?" he asks out loud.

"Mhm! It's a super fun farming and adventure game. It's two players so I wanted you guys to try it out!" Sun giddily presses buttons on his controller. Codie chuckles, grabbing it from him. She probably should have set it up first.

She does so, starting a new game and allowing the brothers to choose the farm layout and extras. Sun chose the basic farm while Moon chose the cat from the pet option. Sun pouts at not getting the dog but relents when he decorates his character. He makes his farmer have yellow skin and bright red clothing.

Codie explains that Moon's character comes in as soon as the game starts as long as they set an extra house on the property, which Codie made sure she selected, and so Sun begins the intro. After watching the cut-scene, Moon presses start and his character creation screen disrupts the gameplay.

"Hmm," Moon buzzes, not willing to admit out loud that he's already quite enjoying this game. It seems very calm and laid back compared to that Kindergarten game Sun loves. He decides on making his farmer blue skinned to match the theme they having going on, along with darker clothing.

He finishes up and the game resumes.

"Okay," Codie speaks up, "I don't want to backseat game or anything, but to get started, basically follow your little quests from the exclamation mark on the right side of the screen and start by planting your parsnip seeds you got from the mayor."

"Got it! Moonie we're farmers! Look at me!" Sun spins his farmer around, looking silly as Moon inspects the parsnip package from inside his house.

The lunar bot chuckles. "Sun, go get your seeds and help me till, it appears I'm running low on energy." Codie glances over and sees that he is, indeed, almost out of energy. He tilled a couple dozen spots of dirt when he only needed fifteen. She giggles but keeps quiet of spoiling things.

"Oh! Sorry!" Sun grabs his seeds and goes to plant them. "I'll water them! I've always wanted to garden!" Moon smiles sadly. He remembers how much his brother wished to go outside to plant some flowers and such. He wanted to have an outdoor section of the daycare but they were always harshly denied.

Unsurprisingly to Codie, the boys get the hang of the game quite quickly, with Moon mastering the fishing mini game, and Sun mastering farming with all the sprinklers he set up to work efficiently.

They play for about 10 (in-game) days before Codie yawns involuntarily. Moon narrows his eyes down at her. "Sorry," she smiles sheepishly, "I woke up a bunch last night, not sure why."

Sun and Moon share a look before Moon replies. "You're always welcomed to crash with us, Starlight."

Codie blushes, looking down. "I know, it's just... I don't know..." How is she supposed to say it's embarrassing to cuddle up with her roommates because she can't sleep like a regular adult?

Sun ruffles her head before going back to mining. Codie has noticed he has had some fixation on her hair lately, using any opportunity to touch it in some way. She's not complaining, though. His fingers work some magic.

"So, Vanessa called earlier," Moon starts, keeping on playing. "She wanted me to invite you to the next meeting, Nova." Codie looks up with surprise. She thought he was talking to Sun, not her!

"What? Me? Why?"

"She thought you would make a good advocate for us. The people who oppose us would do well to see other human supporters besides Vanessa and Gregory," Moon explains, frowning at the thought of them not having really anyone besides those two and Codie as human friends.

"We...don't have many humans who actually want us to be free. They're trying to take us back to the pizzaplex..." Sun murmurs morosely.

Codie looks back and forth between her two boys. How could anyone hate these guys? These animatronics can feel and think and dream and make choices for themselves, yet everyone wants them back in the pizzaplex to work for them and be property to an apathetic corporate entity?

How heartless can humans be?

"I'm not sure how much I can do..." Codie mumbles, unsure of herself, "but I'll be there to support you guys all the way, I promise." She is sure of helping her best friends, though. Even the ones she hasn't met yet. Speaking of, she should meet Freddy and Monty before the meeting.

"Thank you, Sunflower!" Sun side-hugs her, his body warming up. Moon does the same on her other side, his body cool. She shivers from the mixed temperatures.

"When is it?"

"Next- Oh stars a geode, Moon!" Sun gets distracted by the geode in the game, eagerly eating a cave carrot so he could pick it up. "Sorry, it's next week, Sunbite."

"Okay, I'd like to meet the other guys sometime before then." The jesters go still, slowly swiveling their heads to look at her. "Uhh, if that's alright?" Codie furrows her brows, confused at their silence.

"Are you sure, Dewdrop? Monty could be a bit...much, and he doesn't care for many humans," Sun nervously notes.

"Montgomery tends to be aggressive. He has an explosive personality that the mechanics deemed normal for him so they wouldn't change it when we were released..." Moon growls, rolling his eyes. He's all for growing and learning with their AI, but Monty needed some serious changes.

He won't forget what that gator did to him and his brother.

"Well, he'll need someone to get to know him. You know, show him that humans aren't all bad and that I can help him with the problems of people not wanting him to be free!" Codie exclaims. Sun and Moon look to each other, their optics flashing with jealousy, something they haven't felt before.

"You feel that?"

"Yeah, what is it?"

"I-I don't know! It makes me feel weird...and mad?" Sun pulls at his rays anxiously. Codie stops her mental rant at Sun's whimpers.

"Hey, hey what's wrong, Sunny-Bun?" she coos, grabbing his hands and gently taking them off his rays. He blushes, feeling calm when she speaks to him. He shakes his head and gives her a small smile. She releases his hands but he reaches for her, pulling one of her small ones and holding it in his own.

Meanwhile, Moon stews on his emotions, trying to figure out what it is and what it means. He sees the two sharing a moment and can't help but feel better at the sight. Something about this human can pacify these two in mere moments.

"How about we go out and invite Freddy and Monty somewhere? Maybe for dinner?" Sun suggests softly, still holding Codie's hand.

"Mmm, dinner is too sophisticated for the gator. How about bowling." Moon smirks, a bit of bitterness in his voice.

"We should ask Freddy and Monty," Codie pipes up. "Besides, I wouldn't want to do anything they'd be uncomfortable with." Always the considerate human, she is. Moon pets her head, turning back to the TV.

The others turn as well and Sun unpauses the game. "This game is so fun, Sunshine, but don't you want to play, too?" Sun's rays spin full circle.

Codie hums, leaning back onto the couch and stretching. "Not really. Watching you two is just as fun and entertaining. Plus, I've played this game before! I even have another two-player game I'm dying to see your reactions to. But that'll be for some other time."

The brothers agree and go back to playing. After a while longer, Codie gets up to stretch her legs, leaving the boys to get deeper into the mines on their own. She heads to the kitchen and scrounges around the cupboards while dialing Vanessa's number on her phone.

The blonde picks up. "Hello?"

"Hey, Ness! I was wondering if I could possibly talk to Freddy. You live with him, right?" Codie twirls her hair with her free hand, looking at the snacks in front of her.

"Uh, yeah! Let me give you his number, I'm not home..." Codie waits patiently as she hears Vanessa shuffle around a bit. The blond rattles off the number and Codie thanks her, hanging up and putting in the bear's cell.

She sets it as a contact before hitting 'Call'.

"Hello? This is Freddy Fazbear speaking." Freddy's voice rumbles from his end.

"Hi, Freddy, my name is Codie. I'm not sure if you know of me or..." Codie hopes Gregory might have mentioned her or this call might get awkward.

"Oh, yes! Gregory has told me a bit about you! Vanessa says you are the daycare attendant's roommate, yes?" Codie breathes a sigh of relief. Thank goodness.

"Yes!" She decides on Cheez-Its, grabbing the red box off the shelf and turning to another cabinet. "I was invited to the next meeting to help you guys and be an advocate. I'm eager to help you guys in any way! You deserve so much."

"That...is very kind of you to say, Codie, I thank you very much." Freddy's voice is soft, warming Codie's heart. This bear sounds so nice, she can't wait to meet him. "But, how can I help you?"

"Right! I was wondering...since I haven't met you or Monty yet, if you two would like to get together before then?"

"That's a wonderful idea!"

"Awesome! Just let me know the date, place, and time, and I'll see you guys then!" Codie exclaims excitedly, pouring cheesy squares into a plastic bowl.

"Of course. Thank you for reaching out!" The phone clicks off and Codie giggles, returning to the couch.

"Is Freddy always so...formal?" She sinks into the couch cushion, obnoxiously throwing her legs over Sun's lap. Said bot chuckles, patting her ankles before stealing a Cheez-It.

"Yes," Moon answers simply. "A stickler for manners but very nice. Did you schedule a get-together or something?" he queries, tilting his eyes towards her.

The ginger pops another piece into her mouth. "Yup, he'll text me when and where." While Moon isn't too sure about seeing Monty so soon, he definitely doesn't want to let Codie go alone. Or even Codie and Sun go alone. No, he's going with them even if he hates that gator's guts.

Sun suddenly screams, his voice becoming static. Codie sits up, chokes on a Cheez-It and coughs, punching her chest. When she finishes, Moon looking to her worriedly then glaring at Sun, she sputters.

"What!?"

"I...I uh, died..." Sun has the gall to look sheepish, avoiding eye contact with his brother.

"Aaaaand we're done for the day," Moon declares, standing up and setting his controller down on the TV stand. Sun gets up rapidly, crying out how he didn't mean it and to come back. The lunar bot ignores his cries and kneels in front of the red faced human. She blinks away tears from the coughing fit she endured and stares back at him. "You alright, Stardrop?" He rubs her back.

"Mhm..." She gets up. She needs something to drink, her throat is all scratchy. Sun is now howling apologies, asking what she wants him to do. "It's fine, Sunny. You just got excited. I'm fine. You're fine." She gestures for him to lean down. He does so curiously. She puts both hands on his cheeks, startling him. "Don't apologize for being yourself."

And then the human is gone, going for that drink she desperately desires. Sun blinks, still bent down. Moon watches the idle bot. "You're overheating, fool."

At that, the bot sputters, standing back up straight. His fans run fast, the noise echoing in the living room. Codie smugly takes a sip of her apple juice, watching the two.

~~~~~~~~~~
Saturday comes and today is the day Codie meets the two remaining Glamrocks. Monty, of course, chose to go out to a local mini golf course. Codie gets excited, having been there before but not since she was younger. She remembers it being tiki themed with black lights.
Sun pulls up to the place and parks, tilting his head back to look at the giant sign. 'Tiki Putt Golf' it reads, a giant wooden tiki making the base. "Looks fun!" he declares, unbuckling and getting out of the car.
"Looks tacky..." Moon retorts, his arms crossed as he, too, looks (glares) at the sign. Codie brushes passed the cranky bot, waiting in front of the doors with a pout on her lips.
"Oh come on! It's super fun! I was here when I was little. One of the holes goes through the volcano! And steam erupts..." her voice trails off as she goes inside. Sun skips along to catch up while Moon lags behind.
He is not ready to face Montgomery Gator. Especially not in a damn golf course. He takes a deep breath and then lets it out, his voicebox making static noises.
When the lunar bot enters, he didn't expect how dark, yet bright, it'd be. Everything is black and painted with neon bright paint glowing intensely under the ultra violet black lights, outlining the holes and decorations. He quickly adjusts his retinas accordingly and irritably joins Codie and Sun by the first hole.
"There you are!" Codie half yells, the music in the place being quite loud. "We were just wondering where the other two might be." She and Sun glance around, the latter comically putting a hand above his eyes as he does so.
Moon wants to make a snarky comment, but bites his tongue as to not make either upset; Codie, because she's been wanting to meet Freddy (understandably) and Monty (for no reasonable reason he can muster up). Who would actually want to meet that rage-filled animatronic... And Sun, because he's never gone golfing before. He never left the Daycare, so he couldn't do Monty Golf even if he wanted to. Not like Moon would let him if he did, though.
Sun sends out a ping, seeing if either of the two may catch it, and one does! Freddy sends a ping back, letting Sun know they're by the concessions as Monty had gotten peckish waiting for them. The solar bot lets them know and they head over, passing by many tables and the giant jungle gym for kids.
"Our jungle gym was way bigger than that one, Moonie! No one can top ours! It was the best!" Sun boasts and throws his arms out, a big grin on his face as he watches the little ones crawl through the place. Codie giggles, again wishing she could have seen it. Moon acknowledges him but says nothing.
"Hello!" Freddy spots them and waves them over. The trio get up to him and they see that the gator animatronic is in the food line up ahead more. Codie squints her eyes.
"Is that Gregory?!" She smiles, seeing his iconic blue shirt.
"Yes!" Freddy beams, "I thought he would love to play some mini golf as he never got to last time he was at one. I hope that it was alright I brought him." His ears droop as he looks at the human worriedly.
"Of course! I don't mind! I like Gregory, he's so fun and full of spunk!" She would love to play more NERTS with the kid, that's for sure.
"Wonderful! He and Monty are getting a snack and then we'll be sure to start!" The big bear turns to the jesters. "And how are you two doing?"
"Doing just swell, Mr. Fazbear!" Sun buzzes, unable to stand still. His rays spin and his eyes look every which way. Freddy chuckles, not even mentioning the honorific. He's tried many times to get Sun to just call him Freddy, but to no avail.
He looks to Moon, noticing the displeasure in his eyes. "M'fine," he tells him, keeping a straight face. Codie and Freddy start a conversation as Sun drags Moon off a ways.
"Moonie, are you okay?" he asks his brother worriedly, his hand on the other's elbow. "Y-you're warmer than usual!" he notes.
"I'm fine, Sunny. Just not looking forward to seeing that gator again..." Moon glares, turning his fans on higher to cool himself down. He didn't even know he was heating up. He needs to better control himself.
Monty and Gregory walk back to Freddy as the former takes note of the human presence. "Who's this punk?" he asks, throwing a few pieces of popcorn into his maw. The pair stop talking and turn to face the newcomers.
Freddy puts his hands on her shoulders and introduces her. "This is Codie! She's going to be a new advocate for us at meetings! She is Sun and Moon's roommate!" Codie shyly waves. She didn't know this animatronic was going to be this intimidating!
Monty inspects the small girl, glaring as he does so. Why should he care? No one can help them get full freedom. Humans are disgusting, greedy little things who don't care about anyone or anything but themselves.
"You're livin' with them clowns?" He starts walking away, huffing, "Che, I feel sorry for ya."
Freddy sighs in disappointment. "Don't take it personal. That's how Monty is. He'll warm up to you if you try hard enough!" Codie isn't too sure she even wants to now. But she promised her boys she'd help them, all of them, get freedom. So, if she has to be buddy buddy with the angry robot, so be it!
Gregory snorts, taking a sip of his slushy and following Monty to the service desk. Codie frowns. Freddy puts a hand on her shoulder and she looks up, seeing him give her a reassuring smile. The two follow the kid and gator to the desk.
The worker, a younger man, is currently gushing at Monty. "You're Monty Gator! I-I used to play at Monty Golf all the time!"
"Yeah?! Good to see some great taste in games! Golf is way better than bowling, eh?" Monty uproars, his elbow resting on the counter.
The worker shakes his head eagerly, his braces showing in his smile. "Totally!"
"We need six for us." Gregory speaks up, standing on his tippy-toes to see the worker. Codie finally reads his name tag, spotting Ben in big letters. Said Ben goes and types stuff into his computer and Freddy pays for everyone.
Ben then hands Monty a card with a little pencil, staring at it. "Uh, actually, here!" Ben puts the little drawing utensil away and pulls out a normal sized one. Monty grins, giving the kid a chin up before walking around the booth to grab putters.
'Some people treat them like celebrities while others treat them like enemies...'
Codie follows but not before glancing around to see if she can spot Sun and/or Moon. They're nowhere she can see. Odd.
"Who's first!? I'm so excited!"
Codie jumps, throwing her hand onto her chest in fright. Sun literally came out of nowhere, excitedly exclaiming and holding a putter in his hand. Those bells on their wrists are nothing but a red herring.
Codie turns around, spotting Moon in the distance as he walks towards the group, his arms crossed and a scowl on his face.
"I go first, obviously," Monty scoffs, dropping his neon yellow golf ball onto the green of the first hole. Moon catches up with the group just as he says that, earning an eye roll from the jester. Monty takes his turn, getting his ball close to, but not quite in, the hole.
He huffs but goes on ahead. "Who is next?" Freddy asks, mainly looking between Gregory and Sunny.
"Memememe!" Sun raises his hand with his neon orange ball grasped in it. Gregory steps back, allowing him to go.
Sun drops his ball and steps back, readying his putter. He pulls it back and...swing! His ball rolls directly into the hole. Gregory's eyes widen, shocked and impressed. "Dang, Sun! You got a hole in one! First swing of the game!"
Moon smiles, clapping softly for his brother. Codie yells, "Good job, Sunny!!" clapping like Moon, but louder.
Sun happily picks up his ball from the hole, standing over near Monty. Said gator growls and crosses his arms. "Hey! Little Guy! Your turn!" he calls out to Gregory. The kid rolls his eyes. He hates that nickname. He drops his dark blue ball and takes a swing at it.
He hits it too hard, sending the ball to the end and bouncing off the wall towards the middle of the course. "Aw.." he pouts.
"Good try, Superstar! You'll get the hang of it!" Freddy encourages, giving the kid a big, open mouth, smile. Codie watches as Gregory blushes and hides a grin, mumbling as he walks off to stand with the other two.
Codie gestures to Freddy so he can go next and he does so, hitting his neon blue ball close, but not in the hole, just like Monty. Codie tilts her head to look up at Moon, asking, "You okay?"
"Mmm," he closes his eyes, nodding once. "Just peachy, Starlight." Not really, though. His eyes hurt and the music is too loud and, while he and Monty haven't even spoken, he's already irritated at the mere sight of the animatronic. Plus, she really doesn't need to know the beef between the two, that's a him and Monty problem, not hers.
"Alright..." she replies, unconvinced. She steps up and takes her turn without saying anything else. If he doesn't want to talk to her, that's fine. He always has Sun. Which, now that Codie thought about it, is probably what they were doing when she couldn't find them.
She hits her neon pink ball much like Gregory, too hard. Finally, Moon goes last, swinging his dark purple ball just like his brother but this time, it sits on the very edge of the hole, not quite spilling in.
At hole number 5, Monty gets his first hole in one. He celebrates loudly, boasting about his technique on how to get them. The gator goes about gloating to nearby kids playing ahead of the group, even flexing his shiny green arms.
Moon rolls his eyes. Sun has three holes in one but you don't see him act like that. The lunar bot is really getting sick of the Glamrock. He keeps hearing him make snide little comments about him and his brother, knowing their hearing is good and they'd be able to hear him.
Codie looks back and forth from Moon to Monty, frowning at Moon's twitching eyes and tightly closed fist. Gregory leans over to her, whispering, "He does know Sun is winning, right?" The kid knows golf is the alligator's game but Sun seems to be a natural, even more so than Monty, yet he's acting as if he's winning by some big lead.
Codie brushes her bangs out of her eyes. "Probably, but he doesn't seem to care... Is he always like this?"
"Not usually. Roxy is more of a narcissist but Monty seems extra into himself today," Gregory admits, his hand on his chin as he watches the green animatronic throw his head up and laugh.
"Hey, Monty, it's Sun's turn," Codie calls out. He looks back to the group before shooing his fans off.
"Yeah whatever," he scoffs, "go on and hit your ball, Clown." Sun pointedly ignores his rude nickname and sets his ball up. Right as Sunny pulls his putter back, Monty yells, "FORE!" loudly and abruptly, causing Sun to flinch and hit the ball badly. It flies and lands outside the course.
Gregory groans, shaking his head in his hands and Freddy frowns disapprovingly. Sun pouts, pointing. "Ch-cheater!"
"That ain't cheatin'!" Monty defends, crossing his arms.
Moon glares, stepping up. "Doing something to explicitly make the other player fail is cheating." Monty holds his putter over his shoulder and shrugs.
He looks Moon in the eye. "It ain't my fault he can't handle a little outburst. I was just playin'." He turns to smirk at Sunny. "Don't be a baby, Sun."
Codie watches as Sun steps away to get his golf ball, mumbling "Rulebreaker..." under his breath.
"You got a problem, Gator?" Moon snips, narrowing his eyes.
"No, do you?" Monty steps closer to get in Moon's face. Moon doesn't back down.
"Really? Because it seems as if you can't handle losing. Sun's in the lead with three holes in one while you only just now got your first. I thought you were the best at golf? It was your attraction was it not?" Moon's asks condescendingly, a smirk of his own rivaling Monty's.
Monty then frowns, curling his lips in a snarl and showing off his sharp teeth. "You two don't know nothin' about golf. His golden ass got lucky is all."
Codie stands over by Gregory and Freddy nervously. She looks up to the bear, wondering what is happening. He only shrugs, his ears droopy to show his concern.
Moon shoves a finger into Monty's plastic chest, the casing making a 'thunk' noise. "What? Like how you got lucky to join the Glamrocks? After Bonnie was just found all broken?"
Monty growls, shoving Moon by the shoulder a little. "I didn't do anything to that rabbit and you know it."
Freddy steps up, his hands held up to show no harm. "Now, let's not bring up anything ill about our old pal, hm?"
The two pay him no mind and Moon grins maniacally, sharp teeth glowing bright in the black light. "No, no, you'd had it out for him since you were powered on. Couldn't take not being in the spotlight..."
Gregory looks down to the floor grimly, remembering that one log he found that night, mentioning how Bonnie was last seen heading to Gator Golf. He never found out why or what happened after. He asked Freddy but he never answered, only looking away somberly.
"You don't know what happened, you circus freak! I'm not a murderer unlike you!" Monty yells, snapping his jaws towards Moon.
"I didn't kill anybody!" Moon defends, fans running high as his body heats up. Sun finally comes back, having found his ball a ways away. He freezes up as he sees Monty and Moon face to face.
"Moonie? What's goin' on?" he asks.
Monty smirks. "Just callin' it like I see it. That virus did quite a number on you didn't it? Heard you took the brunt of it to save dear old freak of a brother, huh?"
Codie gasps. 'What on earth are they talking about!? Virus? Murder?!'
Gregory cups his hands around his mouth. "Monty! Cut it out!" he shouts.
"Sun is not a freak." Monty grins. Moon is dodging the accusations against him.
"Yeah?" He guffaws, "He sure did look the part! You and him both. I was always hearin' trouble stewin' from that disaster of a daycare. Workers leaving after their first day. Security guards never wanting to make their rounds. They should have discontinued you two after the first child went missing!"
Freddy pushes the two apart, glaring at the two and firmly shouting, "ENOUGH!"
Moon loses it, pushing against Freddy's arm. "I'll kill you! I'll rip you apart piece by piece!" Codie gapes. She's never seen Moon this angry before. He's usually calm and collected. She bites her lip, not knowing what to do.
Sun holds his brother back as Monty laughs. "Brother, please! Don't do anything rash!"
"Many tragic things happened back at the plex before that night! But please! It's in the past! Can't we get along!?" Freddy pleads, struggling to keep Moon back.
"We all know what happened, Moon! Does your little human roommate know? I'll bet not! You may try to fix what you did, but us animatronics will never be free, never be respected and never... be... loved. Get that through your thick endoskeleton."
Moon freezes and his eyes go blank. Freddy slowly releases him and so does Sun. Without speaking, Moon turns around and exits the building.
Codie glares at the gator, seething at the treatment of her best friends. "What the hell, Monty!?" Said animatronic looks down at the human with disinterest.
"Run while you can, Cher. Those freaks are dangerous. We all are. We'll never be accepted into society."
"Yeah, if you don't try! Everyone seems to be trying except you! You'll bring everyone down with yourself because your ego can't handle change! You want this, right?! You want to be loved and free to do whatever, right!? So does everyone else! Freddy, Chica, Roxy, Sun, Moon, Gregory, Vanessa, and I all want this! You might not think it, but you are loved. Sun and Moon are loved no matter what happened. I don't know what you guys went through, I don't know what virus you're talking about, but you guys deserve a chance at life as much as anyone else!"
Codie drops her putter and golf ball and runs off to find Moon. Sun stands still, frozen with anxiety. Everything Monty said about his brother. It wasn't true, right? Moon would have told him if he hurt somebody and they would have figured it out together.
Right?
Freddy shakes him by the shoulder worriedly. "Sun? Are you alright?" Sun shakes his head solemnly, not speaking. Codie runs back in, out of breath. "Codie, what's wrong?"
She takes a deep breath before speaking. "Moon took the car..." Sun figured. He did that a couple times before they moved in with the human. Before, he would shut Sun out in their head and hide in their room for hours on end.
"That's...alright, we can take you two home in the van. It seems as though we won't finish our game of mini golf..." He frowns sadly down at Gregory.
"It's fine. I just want to go home at this point," Gregory grumbles, looking away. He's irritated with the gator. He knew Monty never liked the daycare attendants, but to publicly verbally abuse them? For something they can't control? Even he draws the line.
Freddy rounds everyone up, including the silent Monty, into his van that is large enough to fit their sizes. They all buckle up and Freddy drives off, all passengers not saying a word.
~~~~~~

Moon flies into the apartment, slamming the door behind him and stomping into his room. He goes into his box from the daycare, pulling out every little thing a select few kids made for him. He rips every picture into little pieces. He shreds the handmade crafts. He pulls out a plush in his likeness, glaring at its little red eyes. He lobs it at the wall. It thunks and falls onto the floor.

He stands hunched over, joints steaming as his body is hot with anger.

He doesn't deserve these gifts. He didn't deserve those children. Those children trusted him. He remembers, vividly. He lured those kids. To their death. Commanded to do so by Vanny. He was the first to be afflicted. He was a perfect pawn, he worked with kids, they would trust him.

Trustedhimtrustedhimtrustedhimtrustedhim

He sees his promotional poster for Moondrops on the wall. Sun had hung up his and Moon's both, side by side. He seethes at the gentle smile he wears on the poster. But that's not him. It's never been him. He drags his sharp claws down from the top corner to the bottom corner of it.

He's a monster.

And he knows that.

But he tried, he tried to put it behind him. Tried to be better. A better caretaker. A better brother. A better friend. But Monty's right. He can't fix what he did. He can never take back what he did.

He's a killer.
