Light

The moon  has always loved the sun. He loved her with all his heart. She was blazing and burning and beautiful and he loved her. He was so glad to have loved her. She's so radiant. So bright. So heart lifting. She was everything he had ever wanted and everything he never thought he needed.

She always shined so brightly, outshining everyone and everything around her. She pushed the darkness away, giving way to light and love. She bathed everything she touched with colour, making them look so much more vibrant and beautiful than they ever were. She looked so pretty whenever she entered and left the earth, bathing the world in soothing lights, easing the world into the morning and easing them into rest. He loved how she always enveloped everyone in her light, giving everything an ethereal glow. He loved how she clothed the oceans in a shimmer of light, making them seem magical.

He loved what she represented too. She represented energy. She represented movement. She represented excitement. She represented the need to do. She represented the joy of laughter. The joy of movement. She represented child-like energy and innocence. She represented growth, both personal and physical. She gave people hope when their life got too dark to see the good in it. She's there to show people the good around them. She represented the beautifully chaotic mess that is family and friends and love. She represented happiness, plain and simple.

And the moon loved her. Even when her anger burned the earth. Even when her temper rose to unfathomable heights and the earth had to suffer for it. Even when she stole the attention from so many around her. Even when she became too bright to handle. He loved her through the good times and the bad.

He felt a sort of pity for the mortals. They can never truly appreciate her beauty. They can never truly see her. And what if beauty, if you can never truly appreciate it in its best form? If they ever saw her the way he did, they would never look away from her, such was her captivating beauty.

And so he continued to love her, as he always had and as he always will.
