12: We Accept A Love We Think We Deserve
Natsu
Holy shit this is awesome! At least I don't have to listen to some random old bastard shouting at me. It's Jellal that's gonna be our coach and that's pretty awesome.
Erza, though, looked like she's gonna punch him into next week. I don't blame her, this surprise was definitely uncalled for.
"Why didn't you tell us?" Lucy asked.
Good question.
His smug smile never left his face, "Where's the fun in seeing your reactions if I let you know."
"Hold on," Lyon suddenly spoke up. "It thought our coach was going to be the national team's coach. Not some retired fairy."
"Hey watch it," Gray growled. "That retired Fairy is smarter than ten of you combined."
"The FFA reached out to me last week," Jellal started. "Offered me a job as a coach for Quatro Cerebrus as their head coach but I declined since I still play... ocasionally when Fairy Tail needs that one extra player. Then they said that I should look into a career as a coach so offered me this position as like a test run."
"Makes sense," I laughed. "Alright! I'm all fired up now!"
"Just so all of you know," Jellal continued. "I won't be bias with Fairy Tail because they're my club. I expect all four of them to do everything I say, understood?"
"Aye sir!" Gray and I replied.
He nodded, "Then let's get going. The bus is already here. Grab your stuff. Come, Wendy yours is in my trunk, right?"
The little girl scrambled after the coach, "Oh r-right Coach."
They came together?!

Through the bus ride, Natsu learned what's it's like to not be puking his guts out when riding a vehicles. And that's all thanks to: Wendy Marvell, the little sweetheart that we found out was Jellal's younger cousin.
They're both orphans but Jellal moved to the bigger city to make a living for himself. He would visit her from time to time through the years as she worked on her fútbol skills and finally signed a one year contract with one of the smaller FCs in Fiore, Cait Shelter. That's why I haven't heard of them before, they're more laid back and a club for those who didn't want to model their lives after soccer.
Anyway, Wendy had suggested giving Natsu ginger which she pulled out of her backpack seconds later. She was paired up with Natsu during the ride. Me and Gray sat in front of them, Erza and her boy toy across the isle from us. All the other teams pairing up with those in their FCs at the front of the bus.
Gray and I had to stuff the root down his throat to get him to swallow. Seconds later, he was a ball of energy for the whole ride until we got to the airport.
Wendy gave Salamander a few extra roots for the ten hour flight just as we sat down. I, of course, was paired off with him this time and since there's three per row, an old lady took her seat in the aisle just in case she needed the bathroom every five minutes or so (her words, not mines.) Natsu sat dead center and I got window. Not completely bad because the giant middle section of the plane was where the rest of Fairy Tail folks plus Wendy had to hang out. Ten hours in four very tight seats, oh I'd take being awkward around Natsu any old day.
"Man, ginger can be so digusting raw," he suddenly mumbled under his breath. The old lady sitting with us kinda reminded me of the old lady we saw at Wal-Mart two night except the fact that this one was a little younger and a bit taller.
She was still sweet, though.
"Oh young man," she blinked at Natsu. "Why are you eating a ginger root raw?"
"He has a serious case of motion sickness that makes him puke his guts out if not given any," I crossed my arms.
Natsu glared at me, "TMI, Lucy."
"Is that so?" the older lady exclaimed. "Well, why didn't you just say so? I have a severe case of motion sickness as well and I just so happened to packed a little extra just in case. In case you run out, please do ask."
We both blinked until he replied with a grin, "Thanks lady, I appreciate it."
And he didn't talk for at least half of the flight. Well to me. He made fine conversation with the old lady while I listened to music and read the magazine I bought just before getting on. Doesn't mean I can focus though.
1) Natsu isn't calling me Luce anymore. It felt weird hearing him use Lucy because I've gotten so use to his sweet fiery voice yelling Luce all the time.
2) He still has no idea Lisanna and I worked things out...
I need to tell him, I have to tell him.
A sudden weight on my shoulder snapped me back to a page in the magazine with Mirajane in a bikini... awkward he he.
I turned a little, trying to figure out who it was. No surprise that it was Natsu who had fallen asleep resting his head on my shoulder. That soft bump must've moved him.
"It looks like poor Natsu is asleep," the old lady giggled.
I pulled my earplugs out, carefully so I didn't wake him, "He's such a kid."
"A kid?" she chuckled. "Oh sweetie. This 'kid' sure does know what love is."
"What do you mean?"
She pretended she was pondering for a few seconds before smiling warmly at me, "Natsu and I have been talking for the past three hours or so about absolutely nothing. He told me everything about his life and I told him everything about mines. Let's just say, all he really talked about was you."
"What? No way," right?
The old lady nodded, "Yes way. Every sentence or so he'd say, 'And then I'd break into Lucy's house for breakfast.' Or 'Lucy can make this killer steak that could feed the whole Fairy Tail FC squad,' that I'd like a sample sometime."
"With all due respect, ma'am, I don't think him commenting how he breaks into my house illegally than complimenting my food counts as him being in love with me."
"Oh you're in denial Lucy," she wiggled a finger in front of me. "He did talk about other people and other things that has happened in his life while he's a player but none of them made those tired eyes of his light up like they did whenever you were involved in his life. And let me tell you, it seems like you see each other every single hour of the day."
"We do go to the same school," I glanced at him. "And we do play for the same club."
"Natsu loves you, Lucy," the old lady was oddly patient with me. I'm positive I'm coming off as some passive girl who is ungrateful but she didn't look like she mind. In fact, it seems like she appreciates our conversation a little too much.
"And I can tell by the way you're in denial that you feel the same exact way," she said. "We accept a love we think we deserve."
I slowly absorbed the quote as the old Fairy Godmother, yes my fairy godmother, deepened her smile, "Think about it, Lucy. You're a journalist, aren't you?"
Before I could say anything else she cut in, "Oh I have to go potty now. I'll be back in about ten minutes."
And she was gone, despite her age, that old lady moved quick.
I looked down at Natsu's harmless sleeping form once again. A love we think we deserve? What exactly does that mean anyway? Does Natsu not accept me loving him or does he think he doesn't deserve me? What exactly goes through his handsome little head anyway? I guess I'll have to figure out as time goes by; as I try to get him to be mines.
Until then, I guess it's a mystery.
"That was quite the love story," Sherry's voice made my cheeks become completely red.
I completely and utterly forgot she along with her teammates were sitting in the seats in front of us. I caught her eyes looking through the crack but I didn't miss that smug smirk on her face, "All that love you have for each other is so warm, I'm practically melting of love."
"I think it's just a useless topic to be talking about," Lyon commented, almost annoyed with the whole situation.
"Oh lighten up boy," Jura was a tall, tall man so I could see the whole back of his bald head and then some of his neck turn a bit as he hit Lyon's shoulder playfully. "And you wonder why all the girls at your school are afraid of you."
