The India I live in has two identities:

One, where women are worshipped as goddesses
Another, where women are regularly suppressed

One, where mothers are venerated
Another, where mothers are always cussed at and degraded

One, where the cows are revered
Another, where cows stray on the roads

One, where girls are Lakshmi
Another, where girls are crushed in-vitro

One, where doctors are honoured
Another, where doctors are tortured

One, where you are never alone
Another, where you can be lonely in a crowd

One, where 75+ rule the nation
Another, where there's so much confusion

One, where rumors spread godspeed
Another, where science takes a backseat

One, where women are only meant for cooking
Another, where they are stopped from innovating.

One, where women reach for the stars
Another, where they are treated sub-par.

A/N: This poem is inspired by Vir Das' video.
