jiae sat with his chin resting on her arms, which were folded on her desk, as she tried her best to stay away. the pajamas were, regrettably, a bad idea considering how comfortable she was. even mr. byun's lecturing was a lullaby to her ears. she felt her eyelids getting heavier and heavier, only opening them when sosuke poked her in the eye with the eraser end of his pencil.

"hey, sleeping beauty, you're missing these notes."

"too... tired..." her cheek sank into the plush black sleeve of her hoodie, and jiae fell asleep.

it's not like she planned to pass out on herself, and it's also not like mr. byun cared anyway. sosuke seemed to be the only person interested, taking plenty of blackmail photos of the sleeping student before gently nudging her awake.

jiae continued slipping in and out of sleep throughout the rest of class, thankful to have sosuke taking pictures of the powerpoint slides for her. by the time class was over, the girl was rested enough to get iced coffee from a vending machine for sosuke and herself.

he leaned his shoulder against the machine as he opened the coffee and took a sip, jiae doing the same with her own drink. wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, sosuke sighed and stuffed a hand in his pocket as he eyed his friend. "did you have to work late again last night?"

jiae nodded, quickly chugging half of her coffee before responding. "yeah. i like my job, but sometimes those rich ladies act like they belong in penthouse or something." that got a chuckle out of her friend, and jiae's lip quirked. "what about you? i heard delivery guys get paid pretty well."

"only if the buyers are in a generous mood or rich, but cash is cash. can't complain." he took another sip of his coffee, and jiae could tell that he was wishing it was something stronger. when they were stressed, they allowed themselves one night a month to really let loose... aka, go clubbing.

considering how cold it was for early november, the two voted on spending their time inside. hyeyeong and her brothers typically joined, but jiae knew how exhausted they all were and didn't know if they'd be down for a drunk night in.

making a decision, the girl squared her shoulders and began twirling the empty coffee bottle in her hands. "if you're off saturday, we should plan a night in. i'll ask the triplets if they're down; maybe the kids will want to join as well."

sosuke laughed at the fact that jiae referred to soyi, miles, and yuxi as kids, despite being a year or so younger. instead of calling her out, he let his head fall against the vending machine and nodded. "yeah. sounds good. i'll bring a movie or something."

"bring a movie? dude, i haven't used the dvd player in ages."

he shrugged, "too bad. i don't want to buy another movie."

"netflix," jiae tried to reason. "hulu. disney plus."

"nope. dvd it is!" with that, sosuke pushed himself off the vending machine, using the bottom of his coffee bottle to bonk jiae's head. the girl winced, turning back to smack her friend as he walked off to his next class, laughing.

shaking her head, jiae started off in the opposite direction, digging in her backpack side pocket for her bus card.
