yuxi jumped back in surprise as she stepped into her apartment, where the friend group of five were waiting with presents and strawberry crème cake. she took a minute to process, but her confused expression melted away only to be replaced with a giddily excited grin. she bounced over to her friends with open arms, giggling as they wrapped her in a hug.

"you guys..!" she laughed cheerfully from her squished spot. "i was genuinely surprised!"

sosuke ruffled her hair when the group separated, a small grin on his lips. "yeah, whatever. happy birthday, kid."

after opening gifts, the group of six went out to dinner at yuxi's favorite restaurant. it was a little place owned by an older windowed woman, who used to help yuxi and miles with their korean homework as long as they helped her clean the place.

they ordered a round of shots, which the owner claimed was on the house. the conversation got lighter, funnier, as the alcohol hit them.

yuxi was on her second or third plate of chicken feet when soyi suddenly gasped and rummaged around in her pocket for her phone. "shit! wait, there's one more gift for you, yuxi."

when she had her phone in her hands, soyi scrolled through her previous conversations until finding a group chat with chenle, renjun, and juhee from work. it wasn't one they used often, but it became active again in light of yuxi's birthday.

quickly, soyi placed her phone on the table and flipped it to face yuxi. she pressed play, and the birthday girl nearly choked on her food when the sound of none other than yangyang's voice flooded from the device.

"hi hi, li yuxi! renjun told me you're a fan—"

"oh my god!"
