Phil Lester- Plants (c)

Tears fell down your cheeks as your boyfriend held an arm around your shoulders, also silently crying. The two of you looked down at the corpse lowering into the dark hole it would now stay in. You felt pain in your chest as you thought of the loss you were witnessing.

"He was a good friend," Phil stated.

"The best of friends, he always knew how to make us smile," you added.

"He was practically part of the family."

Phil held you close as he dropped the fern that once flourished into the kitchen bin ready for it's disposable.

Although your home was filled with plants it wasn't uncommon for them to die, the two of you weren't the best plant parents. You blew a kiss towards the bin as the lid closed hiding what remained of the fern you had been growing in the living room.

You leaned into Phil's embrace as he pressed a kiss onto the top of your head before placing the red flower pot on top of the bin, so it could be cleaned soon to home a new plant which you would also likely kill at some point due to your inability to have plants thrive in your household.

The two of you looked towards the bin, still feeling the loss of the poor plant that lie in the bin.

"What are you two doing?" Dan's voice called out as he joined you in the kitchen.

"Holding a funeral," you whispered.

"Funeral?" He questioned. "What are you talking about?"

"Someone dear to us died and we are showing our respects of our lost comrade," Phil added.

Dan shook his head in confusion turning to the cupboard to get out the cereal to make his breakfast.

"Honestly, have you two lost your marbles? You're crying over a bin."

Phil shot him a look. "It is the funeral of Jerry. Have a heart."

He cocked an eyebrow at the two of you, looking at the red pot that sat before you.

"Jerry? Was that the name of the fern? Well the fern that was by the fire place, not the several other ones that somehow appear in this flat."

You nodded your head. "He... he passed over night." You said with in a hoarse whisper.

"He didn't pass overnight, he has been brown for the last week and you two keep saying you can revive him, I told you that you couldn't," Dan stated.

Phil held you close in a protective manner. "Have some respect, he has only just died don't make up heinous rumours."

Dan sighed knowing there was no winning when it came to the potted plants that littered the flat.
