miles's puffer jacket was zipped up to the top, his head tipped forward so that the collar covered his lips. his hands were stuffed deep in the jacket pockets, and he regretted not bringing any hand warmers as he waited patiently for jisung to arrive.

since the park was a good distance from place, miles decided to walk. ten minutes after leaving, he was a shivering, chattering mess and wished jisung didn't make the same decision.

the buds in his ears were playing a mitski song when he felt someone gently tap his shoulder. the feeling was so light that for a second miles thought a drop of melted snow fell from a tree branch, but when he turned, he was happy to see jisung.

looking at the boy cozied up in a large winter jacket, miles didn't feel so cold anymore.

a black mask covered the bottom half of his face, but miles knew jisung was smiling by the way his eyes crinkled. "i didn't want to scare you!" he explained, the sound of his voice signaling that he was smiling and happy. miles hoped it was because they were together, but he wouldn't push his luck.

so, miles grinned back and gave jisung's shoulder a playful shove. "nah, i knew you were coming. my jisung senses were on high alert," he teased. jisung laughed at that, and miles laughed with him.

the snow beneath their feet wasn't completely melted yet, so the boys' footsteps crunched as they walked around the park.

the large sleeves of their jackets brushed as jisung and miles walked alongside one another. "so," miles drawled to break the silence, "boring day?"

jisung nodded and tugged his mask down since the coast was clear. "yeah. we're finally done touring for now, so we'll have a little bit of downtime before preparing for our next comeback." he sighed, smiling when his breath appeared in a fog of white. "we've been so go, go, go that i'm not sure how to do nothing. not all the members feel the same."

as he spoke, without interrupting himself, jisung had pulled a hand warmer from his pocket and held it out for miles to take. the latter didn't speak as he took it and stuffed it into his pocket, glad he could blame his blush on the cold.

taking a moments pause to collect himself, miles squeezed the hand warmer in his pocket as he said, "we could hang out, if you want? my classes were moved online because of the weather, and we just prep for exams, anyway." he dared a glance at the idol, who was looking ahead.

then, jisung turned to face miles, his eyes crinkled at the corners. "you don't mind? 'cause i would honestly love that, kinda. i-if that's okay with you."

miles fought the urge to reach up and pinch jisung's cheek at his cute, jumbled words. instead, he let out a small laugh. "i don't mind at all! with yuxi gone and soyi back to being friends with chenle, i'll have a plenty of spare time."

jisung's shoulders rose and fell before he awkwardly shook his hair out and brushed at his bangs with his fingers. "okay, good. i mean, not good, but, yeah." his hand opened and closed into a fist a couple of times before he shoved it into his pocket. miles couldn't help but smile.

"we'd have to hangout at the dorm, if that's okay with you?" jisung added after exhaling all the anxious jitters from his voice. miles didn't know why the boy was obviously freaking out internally, but he didn't question it. he was used to jisung's quirks by now.

nodding, miles swung a casual arm around jisung's shoulders, hoping it would help calm him a bit. "that's fine with me. your room is a lot cooler than mine," he laughed. jisung looked down, scoffing as he smiled in return.

"i have a better gaming system, that's all..." he explained shyly, but miles only gave him a tiny shake.

"so humble, park jisung." cute, he wanted to add, but chose to keep that to himself.

miles had gotten used to the subtle ache in his chest whenever he spent time with the oblivious idol. jisung was his friend, still his bias, but miles had learned how to separate the two. that's how he knew that the pain he felt around the boy wasn't the love of a fan for his idol.

stepping away, miles returned his hands to his warm pockets and huffed to see his breath. "anyway," he shook some freshly fallen snowflakes from his black hair. "what did you have in mind for today?"

jisung turned his face toward the sky and smiled, letting the snow melt as it landed on his cheeks. miles had to look away. "are snowball fights and making snow angels too childish for you?"

a grin spread across miles's face as his gaze shot to the idol. "you're asking the 4-time snowball champion if snowball fights are childish?" he scoffed for dramatic effect. "i'll go easy on you, since you're famous and all."

jisung's head tipped back as he let out a laugh, his cheeks and ears pink from the cold. "oh, no need. you'll be begging for mercy by the time i'm done with you!" he teased back, playfully shoving miles's padded shoulder before jogging over to a large spot of untouched snow to start on his base.

miles stepped back, blinking, before letting out a surprised laugh and running off to build his own base, unable to ignore the sound of his heart hammering in his ears.
