"is everyone buckled up?" jiae asked from the driver's seat. she had a large pair of sunglasses on, but soyi could feel her gaze through the rearview mirror and nodded.

haechan turned his head and flashed a quick smile at the trio in the backseat. "what's up?" he faced forward as jiae put the car back into drive, and miles let out a long sigh. "not much, man. getting ready for finals."

soyi groaned at the mention of finals, glancing to her right just in time to see sosuke grinning silently. she gently elbowed him in the ribs, just enough to get his attention but not enough to hurt. "congrats mr. 'i graduated early'!" he laughed a little at that as miles and soyi continued whining about exams.

jiae took a hand off the wheel to make a fist and held it out for sosuke to lean forward and bump. "that's my boy!" she cheered before returning both hands to the wheel. sosuke fell back against the seat, looking fairly proud of himself.

soyi was the last to leave the car, and she wasn't sure why her nerves were all over the place.

she hadn't seen chenle in person since the whole cheek kiss. of course, she'd attended concerts when invited with her friends, but they hadn't really spoken to each other. she was still working up the courage to initiate conversation after it became apparent that he wouldn't.

soyi jumped when miles threw an arm around her shoulder. looking up, she saw a bright, cheeky grin on his face, one that made a single dimple stand out. the girl gave in and poked it, causing miles's grin to widen.

"excited to see your man?" he teased, walking so close as they made their way to the dorm that his hip kept knocking into hers. soyi shoved him back with every step they took. "he's not my man."

miles hummed. "so you are excited!"

groaning, soyi ignored the heat rising into her cheeks and frowned at the boy beside her. "so? he probably hates me for ghosting him. i'm expecting sideways glances and eye rolls."

"you mean stolen glances? eye hearts? if he isn't blowing you kisses by the time we leave," he bowed his head dramatically, "then i have failed you, my friend."

it was soyi's turn to roll her eyes, and she finally shoved a laughing miles away before lightly jogging to catch up to jiae and the others. she wrapped her arms around the other girl when she reached them, and jiae flashed a smile.

"ready?" she asked quietly, leaning forward slightly so only soyi could hear. the younger hesitated for a moment before nodding, and haechan and sosuke held the doors as the girls walked in.
