Chapter 5

CJ's P.O.V.

I sat on my stool, bored as heck. There was absolutely no one in the store. I was about to fall asleep when my phone rang. I lunged for it, answering and pressing it to my ear.

"Hello?"

"Hi CJ, how are you?" a cheerful voice asked.

It was my boss, Cindy.

"Pretty well, thank you," I answered. "How are you?"

"Oh just wonderful," she trilled, going off on a story about her husband and children.

I leaned back and listen, hmming and yeah-ing when necessary. Cindy was a very talkative and longwinded person.

Finally, she paused for breath. "Actually, I wanted to talk to you about something about the store."

Knew she'd get to the point eventually, I thought. "Yeah?"

"Yes," Cindy said. "It's come to my attention that you're my only employee."

"Yeah?" I asked, wary now.

"Well, I was thinking about hiring another person," Cindy said. "What do you think?"

Frankly, I was horrified. "Cindy, I appreciate you trying to help me out, but I'm fine here by myself."

"Oh, honey, I know," Cindy said, always trying to smooth things over. "But you must get bored by yourself."

I did, but I wasn't about to tell her that. "Well, usually there are customers and there is plenty of music to jam to," I said.

"I know, honey, but you need human company. And customers aren't always in the store and they aren't always pleasant," Cindy coaxed.

I sighed, running a hand through my hair. She was right, as much as I hated to admit it. We needed another employee. "Alright, we'll have interviews."

Cindy squealed like a teenage girl squealed over Justin Bieber. "That's great! Just put up a help wanted sign, we'll have dozens of interviews!"

We went over the details for a couple minutes, making sure we knew what we wanted in a co-worker. Finally, we hung up. Cindy turned out to be right, like always. Within two days we had almost twenty interested people fill out a form.

On the third day, I took down the sign and started the interviews. The first half were all a group of guys just interested in making money for beer or something. I turned them all down. The next couple was some girls who seemed nice enough, but they didn't recognize some of the more popular bands that sold big money here. With eight interviews left, I was started to get worried. Five were duds, all some weirdoes who all loved scream music and didn't listen to anything else. As much as I appreciated their taste in music and that they weren't afraid of liking it, they just didn't know much about any other kinds of music. The last three were promising. Two girls, one guy. The guy stood out most in my mind. His name was Patrick and he was polite and cute, and he asked questions about our store, like what kind of music sold the much here. I called Cindy, we went over his resume, and just like that, Patrick was hired.

I personally thought he'd be great, but honestly, on the first day of work, he showed his true colors. All he did was flirt with the female customers, which pained me to admit that they actually bought more because they wanted to talk to him again.

Then, he moved onto me.

"You look great today," he smiled, his hand very close to mine.

"Thanks," I said, ignoring that he was slowly moving closer. "I think there are some CDs in the back that needs to be put out, why don't you go do that?"

He listened to me, which was wise, because I could have fired him. He worked for me, basically, since I ran this store.

"Is it hot in here, or is it just you?" he would grin, winking at me.

"Nope, I'm sweating in here," I would say cheerfully, walking away.

It wasn't really bad, just really annoying. Now, he flirted with me a lot and used a lot of pick-up lines, but so did Harry. There was a difference. On some people, it's cute and it works. On others, it's just plain annoying. On Harry, it was cute. On Patrick, however, all it did was make me want to punch him in the jaw. I managed to ignore him, shaking him off every time he made a move, but it was getting harder. He found out I was single, and was coming on me even more than usual. One day, after a particular exhausting game of hide-from-Patrick, all I could think was, why can't people be more like Harry?

Harry's P.O.V.

I smiled, an extremely fake one, but a smile nonetheless. It was getting incredibly hard to deal with the fans. I mean, I love them, but you try two and half-months with a person screaming in your ear about how much they love you. It's enough to try even the most patient person's patience.

I smiled though, playing for them. "Did you have a good concert?"

"It was amazing!" one girl gasped.

I smiled again. "Well, we would get pretty tired if we had a never-ending concert."

The girls all seemed to think this was funny and giggled uncontrollably. I felt like sighing and walking away, but I was obligated to talk to them for five minutes. I kept my eyes on the clock as I counted down.

"Are you ever going to do another concert here?" another girl asked, completely covered in one direction merchandise.

"Um," I said, distracted by the clock. Four minutes and thirty seconds. "Maybe. I don't plan ahead that far."

Four minutes.

"I love you!" a girl burst out then covered her mouth, looking ashamed.

I smiled at her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "Aw, I love you too!"

This lead to another minute of squealing and in some cases, crying. Three minutes.

We wasted the other three minutes taking pictures and videos, which was fine by me. It made the squealing less audible. Finally, they were escorted out by some bodyguards. I smiled and waved, actually sincere. Those fans weren't as bad as the others. They tried to contain their fangirling, which I appreciated. I swear, my ears have heard more squealing in the past three years than I have in my entire life.

As I headed towards the tour bus, I thought of CJ. She didn't even blink at me, hell; she didn't even give me the time of day. Crazily, I was missing it. I missed people rejecting me because they actually didn't like me. I missed being able to walk out and go shopping without being mobbed by squealing girls. AS I boarded the bus, ready to go to yet another city, all I could think of was why can't people be more like CJ?

Holy crap I finally updated this one! Yay! Ok, I lied, nothing exciting really happened, unless you count Patrick, which I don't. *Shrugs* I don't but yeah........ I was just like no, it's chapter five, for God's sake. I have at least twenty more chapters to do something exciting. Ummmmmm yeah.......please check out my message on my profile page, it's very important to everything I write. Um yeah, that's pretty much it. Oh, and I updated this in school with a guy on the computer next to me. AWKWARD. I just like to torture myself, don't I? Anyway, I gotta go, I'm in class, bye!

Love ya!
