Chapter 1
C.J.'s P.O.V.
I wandered around the shop, looking at random CDs. There was no one in here and I was bored. The song ended so I ran to the back and picked one, Treasure by Bruno Mars.
As I came out, there were customers. I noticed some people bouncing slightly to the music and I felt a painful ache in my chest when I remembered Harry dancing to this song.
I was lounging behind the counter, eyeing some teenagers who where squabbling over some lame boy band's album when Treasure came on. I started tapping my foot. Hey! It's a catchy song!
I glanced down an aisle and saw Harry. He was doing some insane disco moves and I smiled in spite of myself. I burst out laughing at his craziness. The teenage girls looked at me and I quickly assumed my 'I'm too cool for this' expression. They went back to their CD and I snuck a glance at Harry. He was still dancing like a maniac. The song ended abruptly and he stopped dancing, looking immensely disappointed. I snickered at his face and grinned. Harry winked at me before slinking backward and disappearing behind a corner.
God, I miss him. I thought I hated him but you know, things change. It's like that quote, 'you never know what you have until it's gone.' Yeah, that was a big shocker. What? No I'm not bitter that he left with no warning, not even a note.
Shut up, I told myself. Talking to yourself is a sign of craziness.
So is missing a guy you barely know so much it hurts, a voice in the back of my head whispered.
Shut up, I told myself, more firmly.
I snapped to attention as a woman stopped in front of my cash register.
"Can I help you," I asked warmly.
The woman blinked. "Um... yes, C.J."
She smiled at me and I smiled back. Not many customers knew my name, or even bothered to read my nametag.
"What's a good CD for a fourteen year old girl?" she asked.
"Well," I said, sliding off my stool and coming around the counter. "Is she a One Direction fan?"
"Who?" the woman asked.
"So you see pictures of these boys in her room?" I asked, holding up their second album.
The woman nodded. "They paper her walls."
"Then you'll want this," I pulled out their 3rd album and handed it to her. "This is their newest album."
The woman took the CD gingerly, as if it would burn her. I've seen adults handle "young music" before, like they thought the album was going to poison their minds.
"Let me ring that up for you," I said, leading her back to the register.
I waved the woman out of the store and relaxed on my stool, listening to Just Give Me a Reason. This song was not helping my happiness levels, so I got up and made my way to the back. I found a good album by The Script and popped in it, letting Breakeven take over the store. Personally, I enjoyed the songs from like 2004 than the ones now. I mean, some were good, but I prefer the older ones.
I went back to my stool and just as I sat down, a long line formed in front of my register. I sighed and busied myself with customers, trying to forget about a certain curly-haired boy that should have been in the line.
Harry's P.O.V.
I fiddled with my earpiece as I thought of C.J. I miss her...
Yeah, well, you're the idiot that left her without even saying goodbye, a voice in the back of my head said.
Yeah, well, we weren't exactly best friends, I thought.
You still care about her, the voice said snidely. Then you wouldn't be thinking about her.
Suddenly Niall started playing Treasure and I got a painful ache in my chest when I remembered C.J. playing the exact same song.
Treasure was playing. I called this song my disco song, so I started dancing like an 80's dude. C.J. glanced in my direction and smiled so I started dancing even crazier.
She burst out laughing but quickly stopped when customers look at her. Her face said 'I'm waaaaay to cool for this.' It was funny, but I only smiled before dancing again. The song ended to quickly and I stopped dancing. I saw C.J. looking at me, so I winked and disappeared, wanting another song to come on so I could have C.J.'s attention on me again.
I smiled to myself and flipped my mic in the air, catching it. God, why didn't I tell her who I was, and why I was leaving?
Because you liked that she was oblivious, the voice said.
Shut up, I warned it.
You liked that she didn't treat you like a famous boy, so you decided to be selfish and not tell her anything, it continued.
I swear to God, I thought, I'm going to-
"Harry, let's go!" Liam shouted.
"Coming!" I yelled back.
I stood up and walked out of the dressing room, ready to put on a great concert so I could forget about a certain girl who put CDs back on their shelves.
