Chapter Twenty-Jail Time
"Well, what should we do about this?"
I ask Django as we get pushed into a cell. "You do nothing, if I hear or see an escape plan being made..."
He the guard didn't need to finish. We already knew what he meant.
"I don't know, kid! You're the one who busted us both! You find a way to take this!"
Django demands.
"Why don't you tell me what actually happened with Charlotte, you, me, and even why you'd hide behind a curtain, marked with the clothes and face of Mr. Tall?"
He then shrugs in disappointment, clearly stuck on what to do.
"Okay, but only so when we get out, it will seem hard for you to kill me."
He began by crossing his legs, readying for a long story. While he was getting his grips, I scanned the room for anything useful, when I saw a hole under the bunk bed that we had to sleep on. I crawled quietly over to the bed, and peaked under the dusty and untreated mattress. I coughed from all the dust and hair flowing out from the old mattress, then after clearing my eyes, I continued to search for the hole in the flooring of the cell. The hole was badly liten, heat and dust also flowing from the crevices in the stone floor.
"The hell you lookin' at kid? I thought you wanted to hear the story?"
Django said sternly as he shuffled over to me. "What are you?"
Django abruptly stopped himself as he glared at the hole that I was staring at. "Whoa, what the hell is that?"
Django asks as he turns to me.
"I don't know, really. I wonder who made this?"
He turns back to the crater. "Yeah, but we may want to hide this, before the guard peaks in again."
He gestures to the guard shifting to the bars in front of our cell.
I quickly drop the bed and smash myself up against the wall. I cross my arms around my stomach, and glare at the guard, heart pounding in my head. My head begins to throb. He looks, aims his gun at me, and shifts back to his original form.
Django shifts up to me. "That was close, eh?"
Django whispers to me as I relax. "Yeah, I guess so. So how about that story?"
I smirk as Django shifts beside me. "Charlotte wasn't lying about the link of people. She was perfectly true. And she was the bait. One thing she screwed up is that there was a pathogen, a disease if you will, was killing off people in the Carlynian sector. She was the cause of it, and the cure."
I gawped at him in surprise. He then continued.
"She didn't believe anyone and at that, she killed one of my employees. I went off to get revenge, and cure the pathogen. When you saved her, it spread across my friends, family, and when I came back I was willing to commit suicide and give all my money and savings t the people called the bloodied hand. They promised it, but before I tried it too. I was leaving to donate everyone to them, including you."
The last comment sent a shiver down my spine. One thing bothered me. Archland. "Was Archland with them?"
He sighed and crunched up. "Archland wasn't, she was their enemy, most of all, she was the cause of the pathogen."
