Chapter Eight-The Fastest thing Dead
Panting and sweating from what I've done, I ran at the fastest speed I could, directing away from any guards thinking I did something wrong, which I did, but it would've happened anyway. As I'm running I remember the look on Charlotte's face just before I killed her. Her shocked expression, her dirty black hair, the tears appearing in her eyes.
"Where is that darn edge I'm looking for?" I thought to myself.
I was trying to find the edge of the floating city so I could jump, leaving my grief and despair I caused back at the temple. Nobody to worry, be sorry for, or feel bad for anybody, because I'll be too dead to even worry about anything.
"Come on, I'm not going in circles, so where in the hell is it!" I thought to myself again. It must've gotten bigger while I was out for a while. At the same time they would have to disconnect the sectors from the eternal core, and in order to do that they'd need land to live on until they were finished.
After a long while of running around fast like a chicken without a head I found a homeless family, who may know where the end of trevlyn city is. There was two boys (around the age of 10) a Mother, Father, and a baby, who was being cradled in the Mother's arms. I trusted the boys the most, giving they probably explore loads more than everybody else (giving that I explore loads too, and they're close to my age) .
We stood there for a moment, glaring at each other for a while, until the boy behind the twin in front said annoyingly "So, why the hell are you here?!"
I stared at the boy for what he said, enraged from how rude he was, until his mother told him to snap out of it.
"Did I just hear you swear?!"
The boy backed away with a worried look, as he was moving back, I saw that there were whip marks on his back and arms, probably why the mother has a whip handy.
"Sorry about that. I won't do it again."
"I wanted to just ask a question to the boy."
The mother got up off the ground and tightly held to her whip.
"Which boy, smuggler?"
"What no! I'm not a smuggler! I just want to ask the one in the front about the layout of the city. I can't seem to find the edge."
"Go left, then right, then continue pressing forward until you get to the edge."
I smiled and waved him off nicely.
"Thank You!" Then I left the Mother to tend to the other boy while I tried to find the edge of the Trevlynian sector.
"One things for sure, the boy wasn't lying."
I thought to myself once more as I prepared to jump. "Well... bye, cruel world."
I ran towards the end, vaulted over the bar, and jumped off.
As I fell off, a stream of black and purple smoke came from behind me and grabbed me by the collar on my shirt. I shot back like a rocket shooting towards the moon. I rammed right through the steel wall of a restaurant.
The man, thing, that threw me through the wall, came floating through the hole in the wall, soon overtop of me. He blasted a ball of energy right at my chest, tearing through and destroying my ribs. He grabbed me by the neck and tried to strangle me.
I lashed out but he threw me into the wall behind the bar. My forehead was drenched in blood, and my shirt torn to pieces, showing the damage done by the energy. I tore it off and tied it to my head, stopping the bleeding so I could think clearly. He lunged at me, I lunged at him, we were coming at each other, and there was going to be a big crater from where this restaurant stood.
