15: First Glances
You sat nervously with the letter placed in front of you, ready to read it to him and then leave. You were going to be in charge. You had this.
And then he walked out.
Oh Sangwoo was tall and muscular, with hollow eyes. He looked gaunt and shaken. He was a ghost of the scary man who had wracked you with fear in the dark and dank basement.
But that didn't stop the bile that had been swirling in your stomach from rising up your esophogus. As he approached you with shock in his eyes, you pushed your chair back, fight or flight kicking in.
Suddenly, that bile rose up to touch your uvula and you ducked down to vomit all over the floor and you stumbled backwards.
"No..." You shook your head. "No..."
"YN..." He whispered as he leaned forward, concerned and still in shock from learning that you were his mystery visitor.
Your feet began walking away. Then, they began to run.
"YN!" He lunged towards the glass and smacked a hand against it. But besides a lasts glace, you couldn't hear him. You didn't want to. All you wanted to do was escape.
You feet carried you down the hallway quickly as your pace slowed down and you came to the desk that you checked in at.
"I-I'm sorry..." You spoke quietly. "I got sick in the visitor room and I need to go home now."
You bowed and apologized before hastily making your exit.
As you sat in your car, you dialed the number to your therapist.
"Hel--"
"I saw him. Face-to-face." You interrupted her.
"YN. What on Earth possessed you to do that? You certainly weren't ready for that and you told me that you had no desire for a two-way conversation!" She sounded upset. You supposed that you would be too.
"There was no conversation... I threw up and ran away..." You admitted quietly. "It was honestly embarrassing to say the least. Now he knows how scared I am of him. He knows that he holds that power over me."
Tears welled in your eyes. That was the whole point of the letters. To show him that you had power of him. And now in one swift, stupid move you had lost it all.
"YN... It's not about power over one another. It's about healing and doing what is best for your healing process. Clearly, we took a small step back. At your next session, we can discuss the best method for taking your step forward. For now, however, return to your regular routine. Routine is comfort. Take your mind off of the experience if you can. I promise that it will be well worth it." She assured you.
"Okay..." You took a deep breath and wiped your face off. "Return to my routine. Just a small step back."
"Alright. Please call me back if you have any concerning thoughts or you're thinking of doing something rash again. Otherwise, enjoy the rest of your day. Do something you like. Please." Dr. Park assured you.
"Sure. Good-bye Dr. Park." You said to her.
And with a click, she was gone.
