THIRTEEN
"Numerous sources within the Philadelphia police departments confirm that the tests showed it was, in fact, his body found at the Nayatt Landfill one week ago. Sam Keating was considered a top suspect on the Lila Stangard murder." Annora harshly closed her laptop placing her hands in her hair. "Can I not get a break for once, please?" A knock on the front door sent her downstairs but she saw Annalise and Hannah already at the door with two police officers outside.
"Are you Mrs. Keating?" One officer questioned causing Hannah to walk closer to the door. "Depends which one you mean." The cop stuffed his hands in his pockets glancing at Hannah. "Annalise Keating." Her mother folded her arms looking a little worried. "That's me."
The male cop put his attention back on Hannah asking, "And you are?" She looked warily at the cop before giving up her name. "I grew up in this house." "And I live here now. What's going on?" The cop moved his head as if the reason he and his partner were there is obvious. "You haven't seen the news?"
They shook their heads, eyes flickering between the cops. "Is he dead?" Hannah looked frightened not wanting to know the answer. "I'm his sister. Anything you can say to her you can say to me. Is he dead?" The cop nodded slowly, staring at her watery eyes. "His remains we're found in a landfill several days ago. We wound have notified you sooner, but it took my department a while to get a positive I.D."
Annora's breathing stopped. Many thoughts running through her mind. What if they know I was involved? What if they already arrested the others and I'm just the last stop? "How do you know it's him?" Annalise breathed heavily holding her body tighter.
"They tested the tissue against his DNA, which is already on file for the Stangard case." Hannah broke off to the side weeping and crying. For an odd reason Annora always found her cries funny and high pitched so she had to hold back a laugh as this was not the time.
A car had pulled onto the side of the road causing the cops to turn around. Frank ran out of his car and up to the house gate seeing the four. Annalise walked closer to Hannah which only caused her to push her off. "Don't touch me!" She released a loud animal like groan and scream after she spoke.
Annora bit her lip tightly and pressed a back against the wall. The feeling in her throat unpleasant from containing laughter. Hannah stood up looking to the cop while pointing at Annalise. "Arrest her. She killed him." Her words made Annora finally come from her spot and outside. "Wait! Hannah, she didn't do it." Annora had to make some tears appear before she came out to make it seem as if she was still crying over his death.
Frank walked into the gate staring widely at them all. Hannah grounded teeth jabbing a finger at Annora. "Arrest her too. They both killed him, I know it." The cop waved his hand at her, letting Annora move closer to her mother. "Ma'am, please, if you could just calm down for a second."
Hannah threw her hand in their direction staring ridiculously at him. "They killed him, and- she-they, tried to hide it by making it seem like he was missing and that he killed that girl, but he didn't. She did it. That's her. They're the murderers. They killed him."
Frank watched on in the background feeling very worried. Hannah glared at the cop like he had two head and one of them was a chicken. "Arrest them! I said... arrest her! They're murderers! She killed my brother! Arrest them! Arrest her, I said.! Arrest her, damn it!"

The Keating Six all sat in the class with rest of the students while their "new" teacher taught. He was speaking to a student when Annalise suddenly walked in shocking everyone except her daughter. "No, that's just your nerves." She quickly walked to her desk setting her things down while the substitute watched her. "Dean Sumner said you weren't coming in, considering.."
Annalise place she'd cost on the table grabbing piece of chalk. "Sumner was mistaken. I'll take it from here. I've opted to depart from the syllabus today." She erased what was on the chalkboard speaking loudly as she had always done in class. "Ms. Chapin. Can you tell us what the fifth amendment is?" She wrote the words, "Fifth Amendment" on the board before turning around seeing the girl standing once more.
"The fifth amendment? Um... Right, it, um assures your right to protection from self-incrimination?" She tilted her head in question as she finished her words causing Annalise to tilt hers as well. "Are you asking me?" The girl squinted her eyes in confusion before settling. "No, that-that's my answer."
Annalise nodded at her, brows raising. "And it's a correct one. When clients talk to the police, they think clarifying or being helpful can aid in their case. They're wrong." Her eyes flickered from Michaela to Connor who avoided eye contact. "Whatever you say to the police can and will me misconducts to support the prosecution. So when in doubt, shut your mouth." She once again met Connor's eyes who slowly nodded with an unbreakable stare.
Wes, Annora, and Laurel all shared eye contact from their seats, furrowing brows and confused glances.

Frank went around handing out thick-filled binders causing Connor to question him. "What is this?"Frank dropped a binder in his hands shrugging. "New client." Connor's head shot up and eyes widened. "Is this a joke? She's in the middle of a murder investigation."
Annalise then walked into the room without sharing a glance. "Since when do we give up on our clients, Mr. Walsh? Bonnie." Frank had moved to hand one to Annora after giving one to Wes who sat closely to her.
When he dropped it in her hands he had tried to make eye contact but she only gave him a flicker of her eyes. Wes placed his hand on the top of her back, rubbing his his hand in a circle before opening his binder.
Bonnie came from her desk holding a file which contained many pictures. "The client's name is Paul Lombardo. President and owner of an import/export operation known as Lombardo distribution."
Michaela looked up from her binder, seated on the couch with Wes and Annora but with a freak deal of space between her and Wes. "Lombardo as in Lombardo crime family?" Laurel scrunched her face grabbing a photo. "Is this a mob case?" Frank's lip moved up as he leaned on the fireplace. "He's a businessman."
Asher had then started to do a Vito Corleone impression as he thought it had fit with the situation, "What's the charge? Did our Capo take out a rival family's Capo? Did the Don bury his Goomah in some concrete?" He started to stroke the spine of the binder weirdly. Annalise hid a smirk as she walked up into the main lounge.
"Drug possession with the intent to distribute. Three hundred kilos of heroin, to be exact. I need two of you to look at the cargo container's chain of custody. Who had access to it, whether it was a frame job. Go to port security and look at any available surveillance footage. The drugs were found by customs agents when the container failed a random weigh-in, so the question is, why did the feds select that container over the thousands that come through the port each day? Look at the personnel at the yard and see who had the motive to take our client down."

Annora and Wes sat searching for anyone who had the motive to take down Paul late at night when she glanced at his computer. "Who's Rudy Walters?" Wes turned his head, studying her for a bit until he realized she had asked a question.
"Um, he's the guy who used to live in my apartment. He's who put the scratches in my wall. His grandmother still thinks he lives there, which is weird, right? How does she not know where he lives? It's like he just disappeared."
Annora shrugged her shoulders going around to sit next to him. "Maybe he moved and forgot or didn't want to tell family." Wes shook his head, placing his left arm on the back of the sofa and behind her shoulders. "Rebecca said he had a nervous breakdown and vanished."
Annora didn't know why but the name caused her to scrunched her nose a bit and want to roll her eyes but she refrained. "It just sounds really weird." Annora looked at the tablet in her hand seeing she had found something.
"This is also weird, the port employee who weighed the container is a guy named Pedro Hortua, but there's no Pedro Hortua listed as working as the yard, so do you want to help me find him? I can help you search for Rudy after work if you want." Wes nodded with a small smile turning his eyes back to the computer. "Yeah, just one second."
Annora stood up nodding her head causing Wes' eyes to follow. "Are you trying to grow a beard? You've got a little stubble going on." She jestured her finger at her face, moving at around as she spoke. Wes subconsciously brought his hand to rub his face feeling the stubble. "Um, y-yeah. I'm thinking of growing it out."
She shrugged her shoulders, moving closer to the entry way they sat by. "You should." She kissed his cheek lightly before leaving the room. Wes' eyes slowly widened and he couldn't feel his ears turn warm.

Four of The Keating Six stood outside while the house was being searched. As Bonnie and Asher pulled up to the house and entered the gate, Laurel came out and walked over to the four. Michaela and Connor argued with Laurel on if the house was clean and if Annalise was trying to frame them which Annora furrowed her brows at.
The sudden action caused Wes to tap Connor's foot with his own making his realize and stop. As soon as they did so Annora heard a very annoying voice.
"Hello, again. You're all quiet dedicated to stand watch at your boss's hanging. I will say I'm surprised that you've all stuck around. For the best and the brightest, it seeks like a foolish move. Law is not my field, but I do know that reputation is everything. From here on you'll each be painted with your own scarlet 'A' for 'Annalise'."
Annalise suddenly pulled up to her home and quickly got out of the car. "Get off my property." Hannah moved forward away from the students but but without harshly nudging Annora in her shoulder causing someone, or two, to send sharp glares at her.
"It's my legal right to stand here on this sidewalk. Plus, I want to be here when they drag you out of my house in handcuffs." Annalise walked up, stepping over the concrete line entering her driveway.
"Ann, are you alright out here?" Her head moved to meet her mothers gaze instead of her horrid 'step-aunt'. She didn't get a chance to speak as an arm draped over her shoulder and a masculine voice spoke for her. "She's fine out here with us. I'm not leaving any time soon."
Her mother smiled politely at him giving a nod of appreciation. She turned her attention back on Hannah who stood glaring at her the whole moment. "That's what you always wanted. You could never stand the idea of Sam's mistress living in Mommy and Daddy's precious house." Hannah chuckled leaning her head forward, placing her hands into her pockets. "Mistress? Is that still how you see yourself, Annalise?"
"Better than the sister obsessing her entire life over her brother. How's the saying go?" Asher began to walk up behind them, watching the scene. "'Incest if best, put your brother to the test.'" Hannah's eyes flickered from her to the ground multiple times.
When Annalise entered the house Hannah turned around jabbing a finger at Annora. "You're a bastard daughter! Ever think why your father isn't around? He couldn't stand you or your whore of a mother." Before she got to say another word someone stopped her.
"I think you should shut your mouth before you say something you're going to regret." Michaela glared at Hannah who's eyes widened at her. "Is that a threat? There are officers here." She rolled her eyes crossing her arms, staring holes through the older woman.
"What's worse? Me defending her or you verbally harassing a young woman outside of her house who has done nothing to you?" Hannah huffed and went to walk away but not before grabbing Annora's arm tightly, surely going to leave at most a light bruising.
She leaned into her ear, her hot breath hitting the side of Annora's face. "It's best that he died. Wouldn't want him to grow up and end up like you. Wanna go for a drive?" Hannah's smirked as she saw Annora becoming angry accompanied by teared eyes.
When she walked away to stand elsewhere, Wes came up to Annora gently holding her arm, rolling him her leave to see if it left a mark. "What did she say?" He soothingly rubbed his thumb over the red fingerprints on her arm. "Nothing." She slowly pulled her arm away letting the sleeve roll back down as she left her arm by her side.
They had all stood quietly outside of the house waiting for he search to be over, five of the students growing very nervous. Laurel suddenly got a text in her burner phone causing her to sigh in relief. "They didn't find anything." Asher glanced at her as if she was being weird and unsettling.
"What did you think they'd find? A bloody knife Annalise hid under her mattress? Our boss would be a better killer than that, yo." Annora pursed her lips at him, wanting to hit herself on the head. The detective and her team left the house and loaded the van back up.
