The sound of Irene's heels could be heard as she strutted down the hallway of Korean intelligence. She saw the way people eyed her, some in recognition, others at her beauty, and through it all, a deep smirk remained set in her features. She removed her sweater as the man in charge handed her a pair of gloves stepping back to let her inspect. She had successfully managed to convince the grieving to let her fight for their case, an easy battle when she played on their feelings just enough to allow them to fall straight into her hands. Justice is what she would get for them, but for her own greater vision. She looked around at the evidence flicking through the notes, as her eyes flashed up to the board that stood in front of her. "Have you got the call log? From the pilot?" She asked as the man handed it over to her. "It's in Spanish. I'm waiting for it to be translated." "I can do that. I'm fluent." She looked at the manuscript translating it with ease, her eyes widening as she asked for a computer. She inserted a hard drive, the video that one of the family members had given her displaying on the screen. She looked around the room, her eyes picking up on the device she needed to focus on the man who sat on his phone behind the kid. Her eyes widened as she played it out loud, re recording it before translating. She walked back up to the man, as they placed the slips in between. "It was planned." He voiced in shock, Irene suppressed an eye roll, she looked up at the board that had tracked when things had gone wrong, the times matching up perfectly. She smirked, pocketing the evidence. It was enough to create doubt. It was enough to buy her some more time. She looked towards the man, "Can I have a copy of the list containing details about the bodies?" He nodded handing her a sheet. "Is that it? Normally lawyers spend far longer In here to find what they want." Irene smirked. "I have everything i need Mr Tuan." She spoke looking towards his name badge. "Thank you for your assistance it was a pleasure." She passed him a final look, placing her sunglasses back on her face before leaving. She heard a breath of relief as she closed the door and she can't help but smirk as she left. She had everything exactly where she wants it.
Mark ran down the halls, past offices as he looked for Jackson, opening and slamming doors as he sighed frustratedly running around to try and find his leader and when he did the relief was apparent. "Irene was here." He cut in before Jackson could even get a word in. "Why the fuck was she here." He screeched. "She's handling the case for the victims." Jackson's eyes widened. She was a flipping lawyer as well. He rubbed his temples at the thought. What couldn't this woman do? He looked up at Mark, "What did she do? Anything suspicious." "It's seems as if she already had some evidence. There was a video with a small child who seemed to be recording for his uncle but she's uncovered a plot. It was a planned attack." Jackson's eyes widened. "How?" He spoke. Mark narrated the way she searched through the evidence and how she translated the Spanish. "Are you sure she didn't translate it into a made up story." Mark pulled a face. "I wish she had jack. I thought the same and I think she thought that I was thinking along the same lines so she gave me her translations and told me to check it if I didn't believe her. I did. And every word she said matches perfectly. The code language they used was disguised as a causal conversation but we looked at the times in which things went wrong, and again they match up. What surprised me though was she asked for a list of the deceased and the passengers on the plan including the crew. You may not like her Jackson but she's on to something." Jackson stood contemplating. It seemed accurate he concluded when he flicked through the papers. He nodded to Mark. "We are just gonna have to wait for the trial." Mark nodded as Jackson leaned against the desk. "You and Bam go to that. She's seen my face so record the trial, from that we can assess it thoroughly and try to pinpoint her." Mark nodded leaving the room as Jackson looked down at the file on his desk, a picture of Irene dressed in army uniform when she seemed merely a child, his eye brows somewhat tensing as he studied her. "What are you up to Mafia Queen?" He asked, with another hundred and one questions rushing to the forefront of his lips. He closed the file knowing just exactly where he was going to have to go to get some answers. He breathed a sigh out in frustration standing from his position before taking the file in his left hand and leaving out of the door. It was about time he found some leverage over her.
Days had passed the trial in full motion. Irene walked into the courtroom eyes trained to her form as she heard the whispers doubting her capabilities. She suppressed the eye roll as she stared them down, her eyes catching that of the man who had helped her with the investigating. She nodded towards his direction clearly taking him by surprise as he offered her an uneasy smile. She smirked. He was cute. Totally Wendy's type and she could see her best friend checking him out from the side. She chuckled, walking up to the grieving and shaking their hands politely, asking all the right questions to help cement their support in their favour. She was going to need their reaction for her benefit and with what she was about to expose she would get it in a heartbeat. She smirks slightly as she sits down arranging her papers in a neat way before placing on the gown that was supposed to be worn during such trials. Mark and Bambam shared a look continuing to record the start of the ordeal with a look on their faces, as the park's stood being glared at. Irene shook her head standing up as the judge entered, all waiting to be seated. "All rise in terms of Park industries vs the justice for the deceased as part of the investigation into who is responsible for the death of in total 78 passengers with 15 cabin crew and the two pilots, all please be seated and begin. Court in session." They took their respective seats, Irene allowing her opposition to go first, her plan pretty simple. Destroy their argument, present her own evidence, extend the trial date, pinpoint the person in the government responsible before exposing other cases to the media. Easy. She looked towards the other lawyer who stood sweating under his collar, his first mistake. She smirked, her hands in a clasped motion as she listened intently. "Ms Bae?" The judge directed towards her as she stood. "Your honour. I think it's clear to say that there has been clear negligence under what we suspect to be the Park's but at this moment in time I do not think it's wise to rule out any possibility and I say that for two reasons. First, we weren't on that craft, there are no survivors, or so we thought. And secondly our evidence is deeply restricted. Firstly before I dive deeper I think it's vital we pay our respect to the deceased and give our condolences to the grieving because they are the ones who are at the forefront of this. Nothing we say or do regardless of who ends up behind bars for such a monstrosity will be enough. It can't bring the dead back to life." She paused knowing she's ultimately gained the sympathy card, she turned to the grieving bowing slightly. "I'll do my best." She vows in front of them, as a attendant brings forth a religious book, Irene placing her hand on top of it. "I swear on this that everything I say in court will be nothing but the truth and only the truth in exposing what transpired on May the seventh at approximately 11:40." She turns to the judge. "Yesterday I went over to assess the evidence your honour and I was notified by the man in charge Mr Mark Tuan that we had a recording of the pilot discussing something of minuet detail in regards to the case with what was believed to be a phone call with his wife. Can we just listen to that?" She asks as they play the recording, she can hear people typing away as they listen. "As you may have noticed that this isn't Korean, it's Spanish. And I'm surprised your honour that Korean intelligence hadn't thought of translating this faster. Here are the translations as followed." Irene recites them out before handing them to a person who passes it up to the judge. "I'd now like to bring your attention to this video, a video that Mr Chang's nephew had recorded moments before at approximately 11:35 when the first impact was set off. What I found quite intriguing your honour was the fact that there seemed to be someone on a burner phone the exact same time the pilot was and so I magnified the video in order to hear what was being said. Please play the video." The video plays. "Again In Spanish your honour, and here are the translations." Irene hands them over again before standing up slightly. "Now that I've painted two respective images your honour I would like to ask you to read this out for me, a merge of the two." He does, eyes widening as Irene takes a step back. "It was planned your honour. Flight B-32 was compromised as soon as it took off." She hears the gasps as she takes a step back, the courtroom in complete silence as she is signalled to continue. "I asked for a list of the deceased. All of the bodies were accounted for except two your honour. That of the pilot, and that of passenger 321 who was sitting behind Mr Chang's nephew who I suspect was on the phone with the pilot." She can hear the outrage as she waits for the courtroom to calm. "That's a serious accusation Ms Bae." "But the evidence is there your honour. Before I wrap up my half I would like to bring your attention to another thing. The second pilots body. The autopsy results are here..." she hands them to him. "What your looking at your honour, is a drug that is similar to euthanasia. It kills you with in seconds of being administrated. And we found traces of that within his blood. So, we have two unaccounted bodies, we have a pilot who was dead before the impact and we have a phone conversation which showcases exactly what I suspect. A planned attack." Irene can hear breaks of outrage again, the grieving giving her the reaction that she needed, the media flashing away at the scene, and Irene suppressed the smirk. "And who do you think is to blame for that Ms Bae." The judge directs. Irene takes some pictures into her hands. "Weeks before the event, your honour, there was a conference regarding nuclear missiles. I'm sure your aware." She plays with the pictures in her hands. "At this event, Park industries where seen go head to head with Kim industries...and funny enough your honour both the pilot and passenger 321 were present at that event, but it doesn't stop just there. Both were caught conversing with the owner of Kim industries." She hands the photos up as they are scanned for photoshop, it instantly scanning negative, peoples eyes bulging at the scene. Mark and Bambam looked at each other with wide eyes as Irene took a few steps back. "As I said at the beginning your honour I don't think it's possible to rule out any possibility. I would request that you give me more time to investigate into it. I have a location on one of the suspected deceased but I need to ensure that it is solid before jumping into anything and I would also request that you give me sole investigation rights for this case, you know what I'm capable of." Irene takes a seat, watching as the judge flicks through the evidence given to him. He looks up at her. "I hereby extend the court date, and fully accept Ms Bae's request to investigate further. Court date will be held off for two months Ms Bae, on the bases you report to the court as much as possible. Good luck and stay safe." Irene nods as court is adjourned, all rising as the judge leaves. An uproar is sparked straight away, Irene collecting her files and belongings as she steps to the side making sure her clients are protected from the media. She sends them home in a car, her eyes locking with those of Mark Tuan and his accomplice. She smirks towards him as the media cover her. She pushed past them with ease.
Checkmate. She thinks, whilst smirking.
