After witnessing the heartbreaking death of someone close to me, my heart shattered. Even though she wasn't my biological mother, a piece of my heart feels broken off and destroyed. The feeling of a big dark hole in my heart, never to be fully recovered. In my mind, it's like a massive dark cloud hovering over my life blocking any light from entering. The one person who stood with me is now gone and destroyed from my life.

I spent the rest of the bus ride silent, sitting away from Luke and Annabeth. From the corner of my eye, I could see Luke looking back at me every two minutes to check up on me. Once we reached camp a group of campers approached us and asked "where we were and why we left camp". I didn't respond and just walked right around them towards the lake.

A couple of minutes later Luke came towards me and sat right next to me looking out towards the water.

Luke: "I-I-I'm so sorry y/n. That was not supposed to happen." Luke said, looking up towards me.

Y/n: "Well it did! It did happen!" I yelled trying to hold back tears.

Y/n: "I could have saved her!" I said

Y/n: "But YOU, you got in the way!" I said pointing at him.

Luke: "I tried to save you. You are too important." He said looking down at his lap.

Y/n: "Yeah well she was important to me too!" I said back.

Y/n: "Why just Why do you care about me so much? Why am I so important to you?!" I yelled standing up.

Luke stayed silent and looked away from me turning back to the lake.

Y/n: "I need to be alone right now and I don't need your saving." I said walking away crying, tears streamed down my face.

                                ⏳ Time skip ⌛️

It's been like this for a while. I pushed everyone away and stayed away from them. I hated myself for going after Luke like that. It's true I did blame him a little, but he did not deserve all of the blame. So I stayed in my cabin, isolated from everyone. It's been two months since I've seen the sun or anyone, but since I share a cabin, I leave at night to sleep in the forest while looking at the stars. I also sneak food from the dining pavilion to eat at night.

I haven't been treating myself right anymore. I barely eat a day and some days I starve because I'm too busy thinking everything through that I forget to eat. I haven't seen the sun in so long that my s/c (Skin color) is so pale. I look dead as if no light or soul is in me. I thought about why. Why do I have to be half god? Couldn't I just be a normal fucking child with a normal life? Then I thought about how weak I was not to save the one who raised me, the one who cared for me, the one who loved me even if I wasn't her child. It kills me to think that she's not here anymore. To not feel her presence upon this earth. I feel myself slowly drifting into the darkness.

I was resting on my bed, looking at the blank ceiling until I heard my room door open. I turned to see who was at the door, but it was none other than the camp director Chiron. He slowly walked into my room to face me. When I sat up and looked at him he jumped backwards.

Chiron: "Oh my god you scared me." He said holding his chest.

Chiron: "You look like a demon from Hades." He said.

Y/n: "What do you want?" I said while rolling my eyes.

Chiron: "I want you to come out from this cabin. You cannot just stay in this cabin forever. Your friends miss you, everyone misses you." He said, trying to persuade me.

Chiron: "And yes I know what happened to your mother. And for that, I'm truly sorry, but I don't think she would want you to stay locked up in a cabin for the rest of your life." Chiron said.

Chiron: "Now come on,  freshen up, maybe apply some makeup, you look like you came from the dead, and come get something to eat, you must be starving." He said while he was walking out of my room.

I thought about what Chiron said and he was right. My mother wouldn't want me to decompose in this cabin, she would want me to live my life and make friends. So I jumped out of bed and went to my bathroom. I looked at myself in the mirror and jumped when I saw my face. I looked like I came from the dead. Then I saw that my waist was looking really skinny. I guess I had lost some weight from only eating once a day. Oh well, things happen.

I took a shower and felt so relaxed as the water touched my face. It feels like I had just been born. I felt fresh and clean. After that, I picked out some black sweatpants and an orange camp shirt and tied it into a crop top. I went back to the bathroom to brush my teeth. Then I applied some makeup under my eyes because they were as dark and baggy as night. I then brushed my hair up into a high ponytail. When I was satisfied I slowly started to walk out of my room.

When I reached the cabin door I hesitated until I finally grabbed the door handle and opened the door. I suddenly jumped backward and landed on my behind. I was blinded by the lights. It was so bright out that I forgot what the sun looked and felt like. So I put my hands above my eyes to block out the sun. When the sunlight touched my skin it was like my s/c (Skin color) had reformed into a brighter color and craved more of the sunlight. My skin felt alive. I felt alive again.

I was walking until I made it to the dining pavilion. It was still around breakfast time. I went up to the lunch lanes to get food.

Lunch lady: "Do you even go to this camp? I have never seen you before. Are you new?" The lunch lady asked me.

Y/n: "Yes I go to this camp, no I'm not new, and I have been here this whole time. I just never came up to eat in a while." I said answering all of the lunch ladies' questions.

Lunch lady: "Whatever." She said before putting my f/f (favorite food) on my plate.

I looked around to see Luke and Annabeth laughing at a joke one of their friends said. I went up to their table and sat down in between Luke and Annabeth. Everyone at the table turned silent. Suddenly Annabeth jumped on me and hugged me.

Annabeth: "I'm so glad you finally came out of that cabin. I missed you. I swear the sun has never shined brighter since you were gone." Annabeth said, giving me another tighter hug.

Y/n: "I missed you too Annabeth." I said, hugging her back.

Y/n: "Hello Luke." I said a little awkwardly.

Luke: "Hi." He said back before getting up and walking away.

Suddenly I heard a clapping from behind me. I turned around to see Clarisse and her group of friends.

Clarisse: "Well guess who came back from the dead." She said while she and her friends started laughing.

Annabeth: "Just ignore her." Annabeth said, turning me back around.

Annabeth: "She just wants attention." She said going back to eating.

After I finished eating I told Annabeth that I would see her later. Then I quickly got up and started to search for Luke. I still have to talk to him, even though I refused to talk to anyone for two months. I was walking through the woods to see if I might run into him there. After a while of searching, I gave up and sat on a rock near the lake, just looking into it. I let my hand swirl around in the water while I close my eyes to relax. After a moment I started to feel stronger waves push against my hand, so I opened my eyes to see the water swirling around my hand. Then I saw a reflection of Poseidon in the water. He wasn't actually there, but I could feel him all around my wrist as if he were reaching out to me. Then I heard whispering. I leaned closer to the water and heard "I will always protect you, if you help protect my son." I was flabbergasted, since when does Poseidon have a son?

I got up from the lake and turned around to walk away, but I soon saw Luke come up to me.

Y/n: "Luke." I called out to him, surprised he came to me instead of the other way around.

Luke: "I heard you calling and looking for me." He said, looking towards the floor.

I sprinted towards him and wrapped my arms around him so tightly, I caught him by surprise. He eventually hugged me back and snuggled his head in my neck. Tears started streaming out of both of our eyes. Tears soaking our shirts. Luke pulled away and cupped both of my cheeks, wiping away tears.

Y/n: "I just wanted to say I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to lash out at you and blame you for my mother's death." I apologized looking him in the eyes.

Luke: "It's okay. You were right to blame me. I was being selfish and saved only you, while I could have saved all of us." He said.

Y/n: "No. No, it's not right to blame you for what happened to my mother and you were not selfish. Luke, you saved me. Most people would have run. But I have a question, why did you save me? Why do you care about me? I mean we just met." I asked.

Luke: "I..I-" He stammered before getting cut off by a large boom.

Me and Luke quickly snapped our heads towards the barrier where I came from when I first arrived at camp. Me and Luke took off running to see what was happening. After we reached I saw everyone in camp along with Chiron and Mr. D waiting behind the barrier.

Y/n: "What's happening?" I asked Luke.

Luke: "Same thing that happened to you." He replied.

Y/n: "So a kid is out there getting hurt by this monster while we wait until it's safe to get him. That is so stupid!" I yelled.

Luke: "Well that's how it goes. We can't risk all of us trying to save one kid." He said.

Y/n: "I cannot believe you just said that!" I yelled again.

I took off running through the barrier and stopped when it was really dark and pouring rain. I heard someone yell after me but I did not care. I saw this huge beast lift up a female figure and crush her into dust. This is the same thing that happened to my mother I thought. I then heard a boy yell out towards the female that got crushed. He had golden-colored curly hair. He looked awfully familiar to a friend I used to know, but it was too dark outside to tell. His eyes then had a glint of anger flashing through his eyes. Next thing I know he is battling the beast by himself. I saw another boy knocked out cold. Or at least I thought it was a boy. The boy had goat-looking legs. Suddenly the bull-looking thingy stopped in its tracks and started sniffing, when it stopped it snapped its neck towards me and started to charge at me.

Y/n: "HOLY SHIT!!" I yelled as I started running in another direction away from the bull thingy that was chasing me.

I tried to use my fire powers to stop the bull but it was too fast and I kept missing. The bull suddenly pushed me to the ground really hard. I groaned really loud because that hurt like hell.

Unknown boy #: "HEYY!" The boy yelled out at the bull.

The bull stopped chasing me, turned towards the boy, and started charging at him until it pushed him to a tree. The sword got knocked out of his hand and landed right next to me. The bull turned around to charge at the boy again so it could crush him against the tree.

Unknown boy #: "Hey quick, throw me the sword." He told me, reaching out for it.

He also sounds familiar. I quickly grabbed the sword and tossed it to him. When the bull was close to crushing him, the boy jumped up and landed on the bull. He then broke off a large piece of the bull's horn. The bull groaned in pain and tried jumping up and down to throw the boy off of him. Then finally the boy stabbed right down through the bull's back with the sword. The bull faded into thin air and the boy fell to the ground. I was about to run over to him but I felt someone pick me up and drag me away from the scene. I looked up to see Luke looking at me with worried eyes.

Y/n: "Luke my ribs hurt. I think they are broken." I told him, still holding onto my stomach.

He suddenly picked me up and carried my bridal style towards the nurse's office. I didn't even get to see the boy who killed that bull thingy. I started passing out from the pain and all I saw was pitch black.

I'm sorry I haven't uploaded a chapter last week. It's three more weeks until school is over and that means it's testing season. I have been doing all-day testing and studying all last week, so I didn't get a chance to write a chapter for last week.
